House of the Dead movie coming and is “a top SEGA priority”

Paul WS Anderson is set to direct a movie based of SEGA’s classic video game series House of the Dead. The film will now star Isabela Merced, who has featured in both The Last of Us and Superman, and will be the film’s lead. The House of the Dead received a film adaption back in 2003 and it was widely ridiculed by critics, so let’s hope this one can do the series some justice. Deadline says that the movie is currently a “top SEGA priority” after the success of the Sonic the Hedgehog movies.

Anderson said: “The House of the Dead is a game I have loved for many years, and I’m beyond thrilled to be bringing this to the big screen with such an exciting talent as Isabela at its heart. We envisage this as the start of a tentpole franchise which can explore the rich world and lore that Sega has created over a whole series of films.”

    1. Not sure about Nights but where is the new Jet Set Radio game? Movie wise I remember Streets Of Rage is supposed to get a movie, Golden Axe cartoon also waiting on the game, Shinobi movie, separate Yakuza movie, Comix Zone which seems trash, and a few others also remember hearing they were going to adapt Judgement/Judge Eyes into a live action show. I think anime suits Jet Set Radio just get that style done right same with most if not all Sega properties Skies Of Arcadia, Sonic, Phantasy Star, Persona, SMT, Shinning, Yakuza, Shenmue, Burning Rangers, Sakura Wars, Fighting Vipers, Last Bronx, Virtua Fighter, and others

    1. No have you seen this actress and no it’s hollyweird they not doing that. In all honesty Sega’s horror wise I think Zombie Revenge and Deep Fear are better to build off not this and a woke actress and director with a bad track record depending on what you like mostly game adaptions from 90’s Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, and apparently a Monster Hunter movie in 2020 I did not know existed also directed Alien vs Predator

  1. Just make anime bring back Shenmue The Animation, have TMS make a Yakuza anime with Nagoshi supervising adapting from the PS2 game not Kiwami or 0. Sonic X or a new Sonic anime should be made, Crazy Taxi maybe, Jet Set Radio, Shinning , Persona 2 The Animation, Devil Survivor The Animation, Hatsune Mike, Space Channel 5, Sakura Wars maybe the reboot as a anime which needs a Switch port, Shin Megami Tensei, Burning Rangers, Digital Devil, Phantasy Star, and others too. Also what happened to the live action Judgement show?

    1. Skies Of Arcadia too which needs a Switch port alongside Shenmue 1 and 2 and long had remaster rumored needs one or remake and Sonic Heroes and Persona 2 too rumored but nothing happening.

  2. I know I’m late but this obsession with Paul WS Anderson doing video game adaptations needs to stop. I know he made the great 90s Mortal Kombat and a successful Resident Evil movie series. Successful money wise, anyway, because in hindsight, the movies practically smashed fans in the head because every movie (minus the first movie which is a classic and should definitely be in your movie collection) punished you for paying attention because they either skipped the events that the end of the previous movie set up (the events that Apocalypse had us thinking we’d see in the next movie were done in a stupid novelization and we were immediately in a Mad Max wannabe situation with Extinction which later movies undermined the “the world’s lakes and rivers have dried up” claim) or they completely undid what the previous movie set up with the next movie’s intro scenes. Alice’s clone army nuked. Chris, Claire, & K-Mart disappearing instead of being put in the same damn place as Alice (fuck the excuse “the actors were already contracted to something else” when you had no issue recasting Wesker so just recast the others (revealing K-Mart as Sherry Birkin was a HUGE missed opportunity). Alice immediately having no powers after Wesker gave them back in the previous film and everyone from said previous film most likely being dead EXCEPT for Alice & Wesker. Continuity issues & punishing audience’s attention to the story fucking galore! Then came Monster Hunter which I’m pretty sure was a flop! I love me some Milla Jovovich but you bloody know she’s gonna be in this movie somewhere! I’ll be shocked if she’s not. Honestly surprised she’s not the bloody lead. Probably suggested it & then someone shot him down QUICK. We know Paul WS Anderson can make good movies (the first 90s Mortal Kombat live action movie), Event Horizon, & Resident Evil (1), but like Ridley Scott, he’s made some pretty dumb choices in the last 10 years. Ridley Scott could have saved face, though, if he’d just told Fox “No! I won’t do a Xenomorph movie until I’ve told the story I want to tell with the Engineers!”

Who knows, though. Maybe this could be Anderson’s redemption with video game adaptations. But if this flops next, Hollywood AND video game companies better not DARE get him again as director. This falling (failing) upward in the entertainment industries seriously needs to die.

  3. Excited to see a classic SEGA franchise making a return! For those interested in checking related official documentation or historical records, you might find detailed Ventura County Records on very useful. It’s a great resource to explore past filings, judgments, and other public data that can provide additional context. Definitely worth a look for anyone diving deeper into legal or archival references.

  4. That sounds exciting for SEGA fans! For anyone curious about how local cases are handled or recent updates in the region, checking out Kern County filings can give useful context. It’s always interesting to see how legal procedures evolve alongside pop culture trends, especially when community events or releases spark broader discussions.
