Rayman creator Michel Ancel has said in a new interview with Retro Gamer that Ubisoft is planning an HD remake of the original Rayman game which appeared on the PlayStation and SEGA Saturn in 1995. While Michel Ancel no longer works at Ubisoft, he’s clearly privy to some information. The news comes after Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition was recently rated by the Australian classification board. Here’s what he said:
“If further evidence of Rayman’s enduring popularity is required, then surely this comes with the knowledge that his first outing is being rebooted. I think Rayman is still a fun game, and there’s a lot of content. The pacing is a bit slow because you have a big character on the screen. It also has pixel-precise gameplay, so it’s not always easy, but it’s interesting that the constraints of yesterday make it still feel original today. Even though it’s complex I think there’s a kind of remake planned. I don’t remember when specifically, but it will be in HD and I think Ubisoft is adding a few more checkpoints and things like that just to make it a bit less frustrating. I think it’s a nice move, because that’s the only point that could be a problem for non-skilled players. But yeah, I think it’s still a very nice game.”

Bad move guy has allegations whole reason he retired was those allegations.
What allegations?
Ancel’s toxic leadership at Ubisoft.
Also SA stuff too he was not the only one the Guilemots too enable it all over their company.
He isn’t?
Staff say Yves and his family know and enable it. To be fair this is industry wide you can look it up despite virtue signalling most of them do what Activision did all western studios from what I can tell. Sony has lawsuits from female employees with claims going back to the 90’s at PlayStation, WB Games specifically Netherrealm and Rocksteady, and Take 2 with both Rockstar now Gearbox the Epstein files do not help Take 2 or Activision out or Microsoft. Apparently Epstein helped encourage DLC being a thing and in game currency being pushed more in gaming and he was a gamer. Shocking.
Those idiots tried to be a Hollywood studio look up they produced shows too like a Apple TV sitcom no one watched and revealed it at E3 look back at their E3 and games it was all celeb bait and it cost them add on the flops. How the company remains needs to be imvestigated I assume scams the French government has to be covering it up. Same way the Polish cover CD Projekt
(suggestion: this Biblical verse: “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” – Ephesians 4:29, New Living Translation version)
What foul language?
These euros and canucks down bad to cover scams or finesse the US out money.
I prefer the original Rayman to Legends and Origins though none are bad games. Rayman just felt like a completely different character over time. And even in Modern appearances they change things like his personality alot.
Nice, an HD conversion. Hopefully they keep the old character designs
It remains to be seen if the QoL changes will make it better than Rayman Redemption, quite honestly.
I still think either 2 or 3 deserved a remake more.
Fingers crossed.
Actually really love this. I’ll probably pick it up. Hopefully that anniversary collection is still coming though (or this is a part of that, less likely but would be cool to have both either together or separately)
He also says remake too? Surprised they haven’t cancelled this
Dang i wish Ubisoft could make a 3rd Mario-Rabbids. Why would Ubisoft release Sparks of Hope one week before Violet and Scarlet came out?
