Leakers Attackdabacklog and Nash Weedle, who is generally considered to be unreliable but may have gotten a couple of things right, claim that we should expect a mainline Nintendo Direct on third week of February. That is not all as the Nintendo Direct will apparently give us the first look at the next 3D Mario title for the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s been nearly ten years since we were graced with Super Mario Odyssey, so it could well be Mario time to shine once again.

If you count the reveal of Super Mario Odyssey in the original Switch trailer in fall of 2016 … it’s been nearly 10 years.
It doesn’t count. We were talking about the actual release date for the game. Not the reveal trailer back in October 2016.
It doesn’t make sense at all!! Just a quick reminder: The 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda is February 21, 2026!
This would make sense if it was like the september direct last year where they had the 40th anniversary for mario, but for this direct, it would be for the 40th anniversary of zelda.
Nintendo definitely need to get some big game announcements lined up to build up some hype, 3D Mario would be good as well as something Zelda related ( probably a remake at this point) and maybe some surprises

For starters Attack the backlog did not say they had heard of a nintendo direct in February or that mario would be featured. That would Nash Weedle who said that…maybe research the story you’re going to talk about before calling anyone unreliable….
