Virtual Boy Nintendo Classics now available to download

The Virtual Boy catalogue as part of the Nintendo Classics range of games for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers is now available to download on the Nintendo eShop. To play the selection of games you will need to own the Nintendo Virtual Boy replica or the cardboard alternative. The games include Mario Tennis and Virtual Boy Wario Land.

  1. Has anyone tried playing it without the peripheral? I imagine it’s just two “screens” side by side. I’d really love to try Wario Land but I’m just not paying for a headset, cardboard or not.

Ok, I just downloaded and tried it. It is two very small screens but the software doesn’t actually check if you have the 3D headset or not. It might still be playable but man… in handheld it’s so small… I just can’t believe Nintendo dropped the ball so hard on this one. Just make a 2D version option!

  2. Mario Tennis isn’t available yet. Please correct that.

Also, you can just play the games cross-eyed, and get the same 3D effect. No peripheral needed.

      1. Go open up the app, look at the games, see what’s available to play right now and then come back here and apologize for saying I was lying.
