Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen coming to Nintendo Switch eShop on 27th February

As the Pokémon brand celebrates 30 years, The Pokémon Company group will mark Pokémon Day 2026 with a special Pokémon Presents video presentation on Friday, February 27, at 6am PT / 2pm UK time on the official Pokémon YouTube and Twitch channels. The Pokémon Company group also revealed that Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version will launch on Nintendo Switch following the conclusion of Pokémon Presents for $19.99/£16.99 each.

Originally released for the Game Boy Advance in 2004 as remakes of the 1996 Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green games, Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version will be available as download-exclusive titles and playable on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 systems.

  1. Wish We’d get both Roms physical on a single $40 cartridge. Wish we’d get the other Roms with each generation on a cartridge even though they’d charge more than $40 for other Roms and technically could fit all the Roms on a Single Cartridge.

  2. Biggest Company in the can’t give us physical copies and force you to pay monthly payments to store data for your pokemon on a app that could literally just save the data on console itself.

  3. This really isn’t good enough, what we really need is Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald too. We already had the original red blue yellow, gold silver crystal on the Virtual console, so it would be only right to have R/S/E next 🙂

  4. 20$ for a non-enhanced version of Fire Red / Leaf Green when they could’ve very well released it on NSO+ fits right in with TPC in recent times

  5. Hahaha, Nintendo is sucking money out of poor Pokémon fans, and it will sell millions. Everyone should open their eyes, sell their Nintendo Switch, and buy an Xbox, where Microsoft knows how to love its people. OPEN YOUR EYES, DAMN IT!

  6. If it was Nintendo switch online with a yearly subscription, I would have ignored it. I currently have shied, shining pearl and Arceus as digital downloads. Looking forward to playing fire red.

  7. These are being sold in the same way as on 3ds, both consoles sold each language on their own, both consoles rose the prices drastically, so this wasn’t very suprising to me or “a new low” for nintendo, this was just a repeat of what happened on 3ds.

  8. Xbox? Does that still exist?

Otherwise, people are never happy… you offer them something: they complain, you offer them nothing: they also complain…
    It’s just pathetic.

  9. Today is an excellent day. After XBCX Switch 2 Edition? Omg…

My hope is they announce the rest of the games are coming throughout the year
