Toyo Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda has taken a closer look at the costing of the cheaper Japan-only model of the Nintendo Switch 2 and has come to the conclusion that the model could be generating a loss of roughly $160 per unit. The model is a popular choice among Japanese consumers as it retails at a lower price point than the general Nintendo Switch 2 model. Due to the current manufacturing costs exceeding the selling price, Nintendo is seeing a widening “negative margin” which Yasuda says has “profitability deteriorating further with every console sold.” He wraps it up by saying that he supports a revision in pricing by Nintendo or the release of custom design models to boost the Nintendo Switch 2’s profitability.

Sure, Nintendo is so dumb to make this kind of mistake. Such big fake news!
What would make it a mistake?
Ignore him, it’s a spammer that only posts ragebait comments and changes is name in the worst way possible.
Abdul, it might in fact be true.
Sacrifice short term profit over long term goals. Protect the home ground, hold the share price…. still overcharge on Software. Factor these in… it would make sense.
I forgot that these were a thing. What was the reasoning behind this decision again?
Fuck Nintendo. So they make AMERICANS pay MORE. AND THEN make the console CHEAPER in their country.
Glad to see their profit shrinking.
Hey ragebaiter, tariffs are the problem here in the states, and nintendo makes their consoles over in japan so they are cheaper in that country. Don’t blame nintendo, blame tariffs.
Sony did the same thing with the PS3. Used DLC to cover the losses.
New management could be being stupid but this seems to un-Nintendo like that if it is correct then it must be an unintended consequence.
