Some ideas from Donkey Kong Bananza could be in Nintendo’s next big project

When Donkey Kong Bananza was first revealed it was clear that it was from the team behind the excellent Super Mario Odyssey, though they both ended up becoming very different games. Games Radar managed to catch up with producer Kenta Motokura who said that there’s probably some concepts and ideas that the team thought up or implemented that they will use on the next big title.

“Probably, we’ll see the same sort of phenomenon as we did when going from Super Mario Odyssey to Donkey Kong Bananza, where there were some ideas and development that acted as hints for the future development of Donkey Kong Bananza. I do expect that will be the case where some ideas from Donkey Kong Bananza provide future hints for our next project, as well.”

  1. The Racing Layer? They are finally making another Kong Racing game! Good thing too… the Switch 2 doesn’t have enough racing games yet

    1. Diddy Kong Racing is still better than most Mario Karts, maybe MK is better for multiplayer but DKR single player is much better than MK for sure, like without doubt IMO. Far more in depth with the campaign/story mode. The game was also made in just 2-3 years AFAIK. I don’t understand why every other kart racer developers neglect that side of it.

      1. Agree, Diddy kong racing has honestly the best singleplayer offering of ANY kart racer. The game has such a heart and soul to it.

    1. I want to get away from the trend of Nintendo characters also being Kirby. It was fun but let’s reel it back a bit. Mario and DK can transform into completely different characters, also Link to some extent with the 4 guardians. Fun, but I’d like to scale that back, get back to the character’s roots and innovate the games in other ways.
