Capcom: We will not be implementing materials generated by AI into our games

Capcom has told investors that its policy is not to implement materials created by generative AI directly into game content. The information was shared by the Japanese developer in response to an investor’s question. However, the firm says via machine translation that it will use AI to help improve efficiency and productivity in game development, but won’t be using it to create art or text etc.

    1. They contradicted themselves admitting they plan to use it. Also by that logic do you hate computers and CGI? Gaming uses AI outside GenAI always has. It’s a tool the same way animation software or any program is, if you have an issue with that go back to drawing in the mud with your fingers no stick. Bro are you like 40 or something. Some of the best things have been AI like Blorg, Glorb, Juju, all music companies are using it now too even signing AI artists. BabyChief uses AI to write his songs, Playboi Carti used AI on his last album, so yeah it’s great. Fortnite uses AI, Disney and all hollywood companies will use it, the GOTY 2025 used AI, Marvel Rivals, MH Wilds, BF6, all annual sports games, and many other things use it too.

      1. You are absolutely disgusting and have no idea truly how destructive this genAI slop is going to be. The fact you used the music industry, where the vast majority of us musicians are against having our hard work stolen, shows me you’re clearly uneducated on this incredibly important matter. It is not a tool to be used in the way that’s detrimental and that’s what Capcom was making clear. You on the other hand would much rather support the human erasure project.

        1. (suggestion: this Biblical verse: “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” – Ephesians 4:29, New Living Translation version)

    2. Yes there is for production. Tedious sweatshop jobs are what AI fixes things like having to put something together there is no creafivity there you just carry out someone elses vision it is draining, VFX, outsourced animation, audio mixing, etc. Also it reduces costs opening doors for things not possible before over costs that big companies won’t fund and are too expensive to be made indie also helps smaller creators make visions thought impossible without selling to a mega corporation needing a masdive team to carry out. Even the fashion industry uses AI for designs and production. Something like replicating 90’s, Don Bluth, or golden age Disney animation is now possible thanks to AI eliminating risks. Another huge thing is now consumers can push for retail price reductions thanks to AI. It seems the people who are not creative are the ones that hate AI. So yes it’s a tool for creation and very useful. Same way now you don’t need to tediously draw something thanks to computers, can record bad audio and clean it up, bad footage and restore it, and so on and so forth.

    3. Of course you’re from California and I assume a dumb millennial. The gaming industry is not for creativity its intended to showcase technology and make money that way outside that also product placement. They use terms like creativity now to manipulate low IQ people like yourself and low IQ investors to shut them up. It’s a business always was and is since the beginning. Industry has evolved a bit but it’s still all about money now gaming IP expands to merchandising and film too but all for money, reaching new highs, and expanding not for some art student to waste funds. Same with Hollywood it’s all money and even they are getting in on the AI wave to reduce costs and make money through partnerships with IP. They’re even using AI to select what projects to greenlight.

    4. Hippie its a business not a commune. You and the other pedos can go there with the other “creative” people.

  1. Exactly. Makes perfect sense to help speed up the coding side of things, but no one is interested in AI slop games.

  2. They already did. Street Fighter 6 used AI voices for other regions outside US and Japan and Monster Hunter Wilds used GenAI for some parts.

  3. We won’t use AI but we will use AI🤣
If you’re a shareholder you really should sell this is incompetence at it’s finest from the leadership. You can’t trust these people.

  4. Meanwhile Capcom stock will tank and the shareholders dip. Saudi buyout incoming. Meanwhile Capcom has a ton of flops weighing them down and overspending on marketing SF6, Capcom Cup, MH Wilds, Marvel collection, Exoprimal, Dragons Dogma 2, Path Of The Goddess, and let’s see what they say about RE9 since Wilds was a flop but outsold RE9 on less platforms.
