The revered Tetsuya Nomura has uploaded some new Kingdom Hearts-inspired artwork to celebrate the fact that the beloved series is currently celebrating its 24th anniversary. Nomura published new artwork depicting Xehanort and said in an accompanying message that the team at Square Enix is “working hard towards the 25th anniversary”, which takes place next year. He thanked fans for their long-standing support.

Where is Kingdom Hearts 4? Game got announced with gameplay in 2022 no update since.

No FF7 is next year for certain that’s 100% confirmed to be happening but KH4 been ghost since 2022 after it’s reveal and worse Missing Link getting cancelled and UnionX/DarkRoad being delisted. It’s not good. This is Square’s zoomer franchise the issue is this takes way too long near 10 year wait because if it comes out 2028 that’s way too long. Even worse the wait for a KH5 would be worse and they still have to repair the damage 3 did, 4 is just somehow worse now in momentum unlike 3. There’s alot to make up for and Nomura is talking retirment. This is just a huge shitshow.
The game was cancelled. They are just dragging people along. Final Fantasy 7 part 3 is next year and the last AAA game Square Enix will release for the generation. They might go under after that game.
They did say it was announced just so people know that it exists, and it’s too early in development. Plus it seems that, between Nomura being burnt out and wanting to retire and Missing Link being cancelled, they’re going at a slow pace and KH4 is going to add the story elements from Missing Link, so don’t expect it until late 2027 at earliest. But, most likely, 2028.
They never said that. Also KH4 started early development same time as Remind around 2019 now approaching 7 years. Burnt out? Nomura is the one in charge it’a his passion project after Disney he has a ton of say and it seems he’s still somewhat involved with FF7 given he’s in charge of naming the games. They also never said Missing Link would be part of 4 and that woulf be a mess given it’s set way back in the timeline while 4 is further even worse with Union X and Dark Road being delisted. Missing Link was cancelled 2024 if 4 is set for 2028 that would make no sense adding Missing Link elements to it given the game would be too far in development unless they scrap 4 and start again which means 2030 or later. Nomura also made it worse with 3 and says he wants to do Verum Rex that is on him trying to force that into existence and creating a mess, I don’t think he’s burnt out if he’s forcing that out. Personal opinion he should have tied it all together with 3 ending the series there with a actual good story.
Square Enix and Nomura never said that “it was shown just because to let people know it exists”. Also KH3 would be 9 years old by 2028 that is way too long. There is more going on. Nomura has no excuses he made the story this way and KH is the only game he’s directing this gen nothing else so he has no excuses, the burnt out excuse is just stupid. He is retiring but he needs to wrap up KH if he ends with 4 great but 5 seems like it will happen and Nomura just wants VS13 to exist so Verum Rex is happening. That game being pushed makes me feel he is not burnt out since he forced it into existence Verum Rex. In all honesty I do not think KH4 is coming in 2027 or 2028 my guess it gets cancelled and Square goes under or 2030 release. The wait between games was not supposed to be this long the excuse for 3 was HD models then Nomura said the next game would not take as long which was a lie given DDD was 2013 and 3 was 2019 a 6 year gap but now 3 was 2019 and we are in 2026 so 7 years and counting. Thinking more Nomura said 3 would be the darkest game and it was not, another lie.
2027 is reserved for FF7 and Square will not release multiple AAA games until 2028. But with no momentum for 4 it seems unlikely normally they’d have like 2 years or more of hype now it’s nothing so 2028 seems unlikely now. Also knowing Nomura he’ll scrap the game to start again in UE 6 in 2028.
They’re always working hard like with Missing Link until it was cancelled. This is not a good sign cancellation seems certain for the game
I’m inclined to believe a rumor I heard that the game was scrapped and restarted development in 2022 after the reveal. Apparently Disney did not like it and even worse now with Dana Walden in charge and her buddy overseeing gaming the game could be scrapped yet again. So this series is cooked and the last game was trash in so many ways the music for one. Disney also is blocking Nomura from using Oswald which is weird given they do nothing with him. My bet KH3 was a nightmare to make and they forced modern Disney in the game anything Iger era. Huge reason we don’t get Atlantis, Treasure Planet, or Black Cauldron. Also TWEWY in KH3 not there despite 3D setting them up.
Square Enix doesn’t care. Kingdom Hearts is a dead brand now and will not release this generation best thing you can do is boycott Square.

MK1 years in advance everyone had leaks a new MK was being made not Injustice now those same people are quiet. KH people knew stuff was happening and what Square was doing but now unless it’s FF they know nothing.
Injustice or MK will reveal itself this year or next for sure but KH is weirder we don’t know when or if it’s all just blindness. I blame the “trailer shown too early people” they set us up for this bad generation. Companies instead if teasers years in advance like KH3 did they now wait months or 1 year ahead to announce a game that’s too short a window to build hype. Huge reason this gen sucks outside wokeness and price hikes as well as too much pandering to millennials over Gen Z who are just jaded and moving on.
An actual update on KH4 would be better like a trailer. Game been MIA since 2022. FF7 P3 started development aftet KH4 therefore KH4 should have come out first. Where is it?!
They can’t fix the damage done unless they announce multiple games are coming back to back to back with this long a wait. It would need to be KH4, Verum Rex, Missing Link console game, Union X and Dark Road remake, and KH5 releasing year after year. Also less modern Disney in the games finally explain why Kairi and Sora don’t remember Aqua and Terra but Riku does.
This is a old scenario different angle of him. Rumor is young Xenanort will train Sora making him a true master given who Xenanort is related to and was the chosen one plus trained by the Master Of Masters. Some think he could be part of a new trio with Sora. But still no art or mention of Yozora.

Square Enix doesn’t care about Kingdom Hearts fans or the franchise and fans finally are realizing it and deciding to move on. It’s great to hear just avoid Square titles and let them go under. This is what they get make sure Final Fantasy 7 Re part 3 flops. They will learn that way.
Been way too long 7 years now that’s longer than the wait for 3. I’m glad I see people saying they’re done with Square ovee being treated so poorly as a fanbase. Square deserves their downfall.
