The Super Mario Galaxy Movie was always going to be a smash hit building upon the antics laid out in the first movie, which was a financial success for Nintendo and animation studio Illumination. Deadline reports that the new movie opened to $34million, which is the best opening day so far this year. The original Super Mario Bros Movie brought in $31.7M on its opening day, so it’s already broken that record.
Super Mario Galaxy Movie has released with a $34M opening day

It feels so strange to see how emotionally invested people are to loving or hating this movie.
And no matter if they love it or hate it, the one thing both always say is, “The movie is going to make tons of money.”
Obviously, because people see the brand and name and it is no wonder anymore. I just wish those people would had put more effort into the story and less “surprise guest character”. The quality of todays movies are utmost disgusting. Either political messages or downright nonsense like in the first Mario movie. Sonic had some structure in the story, but that went downhill in part 3 and even Keano couldn’t save it. I miss the old day, when movies had a good structure and story like Ghostbusters or A new Hope for example.
But tgose are just my two coins.
So you don’t like political messages but mention A New Hope as an example of what is good? You need to rewatch that movie…
Nice try… but no banana for you ;)
Just watch anime instead or old stuff there is no point in watching or worse paying for Hollywood stuff it’s normally just plain bad or bad by being woke. Most the theaters are just packed with stinky old men they lack self awareness that they’re old and out of touch clearly mirrors scare them same way soap and water do. Honestly it’s more entertaining watching clips online than these bad projects.
Because, nowadays, everything is competition.
Entertainment became a lot worse when people stopped seeing it as such and started viewing it as something serious (which goes against the very idea of entertainment).
If the “entertainment” would be better and has less political messages, it wouldn’t be such a problem. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut alas…
This was mostly bad just meh as before
I fail to see any political messages the Mario movies had, in all honesty.
People are too scared of the “political message” in order to properly enjoy any piece of fiction these days.
Yeah because loser man babies will pay to watch toxic male slop
let’s-a-go!
Nintendo is killing me.
I thought Daisy was killing you
Then stop supporting them
It has already beating its predecessor.
No it hasn’t unless you mean opening
Money I mean.
How so? That made $1 billion and had a opening over $124 million I think and apparently Minecraft beat that. Personally I think $34 million is low for this but wait till the end of it’s run.
Yep, just like part 1 too much Yahoo and less story. So disappointing…
Have you seen it already ?
I did and I regret it.
Less Story? You clearly didn’t see the movie, they made the story more expansive and creative. Get your drunk dad vibes outta here!
Make me.

Yeah I do not trust any of these goofballs calling the movie “disappointing” and claiming it has no story.
So many clowns will read negative reviews by other clowns and will just repeat their lies.
And I don’t trust any clowns, who can’t create a better name for their sock account ;)
Pot calling the kettle black much? Honestly bet you have to be pushing 40 or past 40. You people really just don’t see it or don’t want to see you’re old and cringe. Most younger people are not into or hyped for this trash it’s only really you sensitive losers that get mad whenever you’re called out and things don’t go your way. It’s sad an entire generation in their 40’s that are complete narcissistic losers only knowing how to complain and consume then complain more.

Saw it last night in 3-D with my wife and 19 and 15 year old kids. We had a good time and I have no complaints.
How old are you? 60?
You gotta remember, Mario is celebrating 40 years
People really thinking a Mario movie, of all things, was going to have a complex story always get me. At least we can easily identify the ones who never liked Mario to begin with.
The movie is very entertaining. It’s not supposed to be serious, yet it has its compelling parts. It’s the kind of movie for you to mindlessly enjoy, be it alone, with friends or family and get a kick out of the effects and references. And, in that front, it absolutely delivers.
||I never imagined the day when you (of all civilians on this website) wasn’t going to criticize high command…||
Not complex but yeah it’s expected when this movie is made by the creators of Teen Titans GO. But Mario RPG, Galaxy, and Odyssey have compelling stories or stories that could be better expanded into something over what these films are.
They really didn’t, however.
What was compelling about Odyssey? Bowser wreaking havoc because he wanted to have “the greatest wedding ever”? How’s that a compelling story? As for Galaxy, it’s literally the classic “rescue Peach” but on a, literally, galactic level. I’d even say that the movie actually had a more compelling story than the game since Rosalina felt way more like a footnote in the game than in the movie proper.
The movie promoted toxic masculinity and is complete trash but the middle aged stink man baby losers love it.
I would wish you would pick a actual name when sending out your incredibly weak ragebaits. The fact that you don’t shows how unconfident you are with your ragebaits. April fools was yesterday, you were too late.
Typical man baby getting mad
Nah, the guy I am responding has been here for a long time and has ALWAYS changed his name by spamming his keyboard. It’s fun to mock his pathetic ragebaits since he is too scared to pick a name.
If you use the term rage bait and assume you’re talking to someone using other names you probably need to get help and go get a job
If you’re this crazy and get this upset on the internet you should probably get off the internet and get a life ok loser
I know it’s the same person changing their name responding to my comment. I just like the mario galaxy movie and I like defending it.
Yeah I am done with this comment section. People are telling each other to k*ll themselves is messed up. I am glad those comments were deleted though.

I left the first comment here… I come back and there’s 50 comments and I’m still absolutely baffled why people have such a personal stake in a movie.
I just realized that. And I was stupid and got involved. I should have avoided this comment section LMAO
Something I’ve realized that’s been really hard for me to remember is that… well, I can’t think of a single time I’ve ever left a comment in an online debate and it actually changed someone’s mind. Really, when you argue with someone online, it’s only for the love of the game. And if you realize you don’t love that game, why bother playing it? Still… old habits die hard

Hey, I can appreciate what you’re trying to do but it might be worth keeping 1 Cor 11:1 in mind. You offer good advice from scripture but you have to be careful when people might just consider it spamming and then it’ll have a net negative effect. Just something to think about. I’m not sure what the right answer would be, honestly. I guess I would have to ask myself if I’m citing scripture to help people or just to make myself feel holier or something.
How ’bout you shut up and stop spamming this? 5 times on one article?
Watched it along with my younger brother last night. We had fun. It wasn’t the best or most thought-provoking thing out there, but I enjoyed it.
This movie has a cheap budget $110 million not the near $200 million Disney movies costs
I always assumed Peach and Daisy were sisters so no relation now? Not sure what she does now?
I think they relied way too heavily on references and Easter eggs. Also calling it the “Galaxy” movie seems wrong when Rosalina literally doesn’t matter until the last 10 minutes and much of the source material is ignored in the movie (Mario never uses the spin move, only three galaxies are featured, etc.) It kind of feels like the Galaxy games, especially the first, have more plot than the movie- you’d think they’d want more plot in the movie because at least the games have interactivity which is what you want in a game.
I don’t know. I didn’t dislike it, but I didn’t think it was all that good either.
It’s not a movie based off of Super Mario Galaxy. It’s the sequel to the Super Mario Bros movie.
That’s true. I liked the movie, but it wasn’t really galaxy based. It did feel like a ton of mario stuff taped together with references, but it was still a fun movie to watch.
