The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has passed $500M globally

Cartoon Base is reporting that the sublimely animated Super Mario Galaxy Movie has now made over $500 million in theatres worldwide. Variety reports that earnings in the United States should reach $308 million by Sunday, which is quite some achievement. Cartoon Base also reports that the budget for the film was $110 million, so it has made a fair bit of cash for both Nintendo and Illumination.

    1. It’s a very good film. It doesn’t overstay its welcome, people complained about the pacing being breakneck but, actually, that was the best part since things happen without getting tiring. Plus I like the supposed direction the next movie is going to take.

    1. Of course. Mario always had the bigger appeal both in Japan and overseas.

I liked all three Sonic movies but, kinda frankly, it started to get too formulaic now. Plus they don’t seem to get the hint the human characters are not at all appreciated and don’t even much of a reason to be around anymore. It’s good we won’t get any more Rachel in Sonic 4 but it’s getting increasingly harder to justify Tom and Maddie being around. Although they’ll probably make it so they’ll give Sonic romantic advice in order to woo Amy or something, since it’s apparently the new direction they’re taking with them nowadays (Frontiers coming to mind).

  1. The new movie is absolutely horrible and… I really loved it.

But even I must admit I’d like to see new directors and writers next time.
