Xbox reportedly discussing internally whether to return to exclusives

Xbox Game Studios have released a number of games on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, but internal chatter suggests they may be rethinking things when it comes to bringing games to other platforms. Windows Central’s Jez Corden said in a new podcast that “there are very, very big discussions internally” by management regarding Xbox games. The information comes when Diablo IV has just been rated for Nintendo Switch 2 by Indonesian Game Rating System, so it seems like this won’t be happening any time soon.

  1. The new Xbox CEO had precisely hinted that Xbox games would become exclusive to the console again; Sony is doing the same with the abandonment of porting its games to PC, by the way.

  2. Not surprised. But more importantly, are they going to continue their attempt to transform the entire industry into GaaS? Hopefully not.

  3. To be honest? It might be too late at this point. Sure, having no exclusives was the main reason why Xbox failed but their recent policies, including spending too much by buying studios and cancelling so many games left a sour taste. I honestly don’t see any future beyond the next Xbox at all.

  4. I think it’d be for the best they make however much they can back by porting their biggest titles/the ones that make the most sense to PS5 & Switch 2 to cut their losses, then start from scratch with brand new exclusives geared towards Series X and whatever follows next (likely pushed back due to tariffs & production costs)

  5. I really like Halo but I’ll never buy another Xbox, you shouldn’t even buy a PlayStation. They shown they care Only About The Money. Force them to stay on PC. You’d be better off holding off for a gaming PC than future $1000.00 and higher consoles. Nintendo is still the only Company out of the big three constantly delivering games at a acceptable pace.

  6. We don’t even need new consoles from Sony or Microsoft. Hunan Developers already aren’t given the time or resources to keep up and optimize games for what is already available. GTA5 released on the PS3, GTA6 is taking that long and supposedly billions of dollars to make. Other companies won’t give that time or effort for games and game development takes so long now that we only get a few new first party games per generation. I dont want to buy a future Xbox or PlayStation for one Halo game or five PlayStation games by the time that console generation is over.

    1. Thst One Chick From Streetfighter

Don’t forget Sony and XBOX doing exclusivity deals with 3rd parties to take games away from everyone else from companies like Square and Capcom that would have meen multiplatform but then bought out. I like whenever Nintendo gets a exclusive 3rd party title its because Nintendo is paying them to make a completely new and original game and not going, the next street fighter will only be here

      1. Most Nintendo’s 3rd party deals are practical in nature. Bayonetta only became a staple on Nintendo consoles because Nintendo was the only one who showed interest in funding it. IIRC the same goes to Devil’s Third at the time. Hades and Hades 2 are mostly because Nintendo has a better relationship with indies than Sony and Microsoft. The Duskbloods was Miyazaki coming to Nintendo and offering it to them, with Nintendo only advising him to put it on the Switch 2 due to better online features.

Compare that to Marvel’s Avengers, where the Spider-Man DLC was PS4 exclusive or, actually, whenever the Sony version of a game has an exclusive DLC or something (Hogwarts Legacy).

  7. At least the only Xbox exclusive I care about, Indiana jones is coming to the switch 2. So I honestly don’t care if they are going exclusive because I don’t care about many Xbox exclusives.
