Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier is reporting this evening that EA is closing down the acclaimed BioWare who were responsible for the hit Mass Effect and Dragon Age series. That’s not all as EA will be slashing 400 jobs, which will be a massive blow to the individuals that are affected. The company has also decided to cancel the upcoming Mass Effect 4 project. BioWare was founded back in 1995 and was acquired by EA in 2007. Hopefully those affected by this will land on their feet elsewhere.

So let me get this straight. It’s good that 400 people are getting fired not including the number with BioWare just because you don’t like a game or the direction they were going? That makes sense someone makes something you don’t like and instead of acting like someone with an IQ higher than 1 and not playing it let’s celebrate people losing their jobs and having their lives turned upside down/destroyed.
I can’t believe a 30 year old studio is just, gone. I feel so bad for the developers, just being layed off while being constantly attacked by EA with deadlines and other garbage. Blame the executives, not the developers.

I wish companies would stop making AAA looking games into Indie style games. I don’t want a AAA game with Indie looks and gameplay. I want cutting edge graphics with smooth gameplay mechanics and no micro-transactions as well as at least 50% voice acting. If you cant do that dont waste your time with a developing a scaled down continuation of your AAA games especially at full AAA prices.
