Nintendo Wii: Wii Fit Sales Surpass Halo 3 In United States

Wii Fit sales have surpassed those of long-running king Halo 3 on the Xbox 360.

Shifting an unprecedented 6 million units in the United States alone, the game has overtaken Halo 3′s reign of 5.9 million units sold. Equally impressive is the fact that Halo 3 has been available for purchase since September 2007, whilst Wii Fit was only released onto the gaming market, May 2008.

Nintendo: Nintendo Hardware Sales Continue to Impress In America

Once again it appears as though Nintendo is dominating the US hardware charts with the Wii continuously holding the highly sought-after top spot.

Nintendo platforms in total sold an incredible 1.4 million units throughout the month of February, with the Nintendo Wii shifting 753,000 units, and the Nintendo DS shifting a more-than-respectable 588,000 units.

Nintendo Wii: UK Retailers Stunned At Wii Price Increase

With news arriving last week confirming Nintendo’s ambitious plans to raise the trade price of the Wii, many smaller gaming emporiums have been left shocked and disappointed.

Whilst it’s apparent large supermarkets and chain-stores will continue to stock the Wii for £179.99, smaller retail outlets are likely to hike-up the price of the unit. The current trade price is set to increase by £17, which Nintendo attributes to the ‘continuing depreciation of the pound’.

GameQuarry.com have devised a in-depth study which looks at the most consistent game developers from around the world. The results compromised of 1,742 development studios and due-fully took into account the developers Metacritic scores across the board.

Nintendo Wii: Wii Sales Slipping In Japan

Due to the recently released Resident Evil 5 in Japan, Wii sales have taken a slight dip.

With Japanese punters clamouring to secure themselves Xbox 360′s and PlayStation 3′s to play the eagerly awaited Resident Evil 5, the Nintendo Wii is quietly going unnoticed.

Whilst key franchises such as Wii Fit are still playing a prominent part in the Japanese Wii line-up, it’s looking more and more likely that Nintendo will have to release another key title in its arsenal to keep Japanese consumers interests up.

Nintendo Wii: Nintendo Wii MotionPlus Not Delayed?

Wii MotionPlus was apparently facing delays according to IGN, but Nintendo state that this isn’t the case.

In a recent podcast IGN went on record to say that Wii MotionPlus was facing ‘internal development problems’ and therefore would be be delayed. However, Nintendo have gone on record to state that this isn’t true, as there was never an official release date given for the peripheral — so technically it can’t be delayed.

Nintendo DS: Nintendo Decides To Cease DS White And Silver Production

Nintendo have decided to cease production of its white and silver Ds units, instead they’re deciding to stick with more popular colours.

Whilst the Black, Pink, Red, Green and Turquoise colours have been an immediate hit with consumers, it appears the more traditional white and silver models are dwindling in popularity. Due to this very nature, Nintendo have taken steps to cease production of these two units in the United Kingdom.

Nintendo Wii: Peter Moore Claims Wii MotionPlus Is Spectacular

Peter Moore, head of EA Sports, believes Nintendo’s forthcoming Wii MotionPlus is nothing short of amazing.

Speaking to sporting publication, Firstcuts, Moore proudly boasts that the difference between the standard Wiimote and the added MotionPlus controls in EA’s upcoming Grand Slam Tennis game is “spectacular”.

“What the Wii MotionPlus allows you to do is do a true authentic sports motion. When you swing the racquet [in Grand Slam Tennis] and you bring it back for an overhead lob or smash, then that is reflected. The amount of sensitivity that now brings allows true sports motion.”

Nintendo Wii: Three Resident Evil Titles Will Come To Wii

As well as the previously announced Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, Capcom have seen fit to announce another two Resident Evil titles for the Nintendo Wii.

Whilst Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is a completely new chapter in the Resident Evil franchise, the other two games are direct Gamecube ports of Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Zero, both of which feature full Wii control support and a budget price tag.
