Nintendo Wii: Conduit Developer Wants The Nintendo Wii 2 And Details Features

High Voltage, the developer behind first person shooter The Conduit, details what the company would like to see from Nintendo’s successor to the Wii.

The developer has also stated that it’s imperative that the console is able to display high resolution visuals namely because standard resolution look “haggard” in comparison to the competition.

“From a development standpoint and from a games perspective, really there’s not much that it would need.  The primary things that would really help out the system is more memory, of course – you always want more memory on whatever system you’re working on – and HD output.

“Having a fixed output resolution of 480p, even in widescreen, it’s hard, because you make these assets and you know they look really great. Even if you show the same type of graphics but put it on a higher resolution output, it just immediately looks better on most modern televisions in the home.

“If they could just have a higher output resolution and more memory, really the system could do a lot. You also want a faster processor. Multi-core would be great. But even if they just did only those two things we’d be very excited about it as a developer. They’d be hard pressed not to do those two things.”

  2. Probably not until 1 – 2 years after the Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo seem to be getting funds from the handheld, like they probably did with the DS and the Wii.

  3. It’ll be interesting to see if Nintendo does do this. As much as I absolutely love the gameplay of their games (and I hope they continue so), they do need to do something about the technical and graphical side or they may lose a large audience in the next generation.

  4. While I’m not going to disagree with the fella, I have to say that as long as the gameplay is up to scratch, I couldn’t give two hoots if it had 8-bit graphics.

    1. This pretty much. There are some side features that would make Wii more appealing to me over vastly improving graphics (which would be nice) that doesn’t fall solely on the games, but would go hand in hand with them.

Such as ditching FC’s…which have to be a given by the time the successor comes out. Has to be. The Wii console code should be enough, but technically by this time consoles should just have player lobbies for games and a general lobby.

  5. I think at this point HD is more or less a given for the Wii’s successor. I believe that what High Voltage want is the 360’s graphics with the Wii’s control scheme, for example imagine something like Bioshock with Motion+ controls; something like that.

It’s a nice idea, though I don’t want developers merely relying on graphics to make games worth selling; even Twilight Princess had amazing graphics for a Standard Definition game and that was a Gamecube game.

  6. I’m just tired of 3rd party companies complaining that the Wii isn’t HD. it’s still an amazing machine and they can make a game look amazing without it being HD. Look at Donkey Kong Country Returns. That game is friggin gorgeous and thats not HD and it looks pretty sweet!

  7. i just want them to improve on the graphics so people can shut the fuck up about how they dont like the wii graphics. i see that damn word on the internet more then i see my own fuckin hands.
