Nintendo 3DS: Nintendo Announces New Nintendo 3DS Game

Nintendo of America has announced via press release that it’s publishing a brand new game on the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

The game is titled Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword. This new title sees players travel to ancient Japan and guide a young warrior as he battles waves of enemy soldiers to save a princess. He must identify the enemy’s attack move, dodge it by a hair and counter-attack with his own mystical Sakura Sword to win the battle. The game launches in January.

  1. interesting concept. wonder if it’ll use the 3D effect when you counterattack by zooming in or something. Kinda like how viewtiful joe has zoom in but add a 3d effect to it.

  2. Things that are cliche are things that stand the test of time and are proven to work. Why fix what isn’t broken? Sounds like a good game to me, we’ll see how it turns out.

  3. … is it just me or does this sound like a sungoku era version of LoZ?

    >main character samurai
    >save the princess
    >weild “sakura sword” [referrence: master sword]

    See? Mind=blown.

  4. Wish that this would be released for the wii to make use of the wiiremote+ :( Zelda and Wii Resort are the only WR+ games I’m playin right now

  5. Oh man, so many negative comments. If it was a full retail title, then I would understand the “cliche” comments and stuff, but this is a downloadable game like Freaky Forms.

The game looks good to me.

    • Thanks for informing us elgato, the games quality (not that I have any problem with it) makes sense now that I know it’s a downloadable game. On that note it seems that this looks to be like a real great game with some fun mechanics considering it is a downloadable title.

Will most likely end up buying it as I do love my samurai XD and the games quality or a downloadable seems top notch. If there’s a way for you to upgrade your character or customize him in any way, shape or form then this is a definite buy from me.

  6. i just bought the game skyward sword limited edition and is garbage
the wii remote looks like crap the orchestra soundtrack sucks full of mistakes and the game is just ok, the controls are not responsive at times but the game is just more of the same….
