Stylish Nintendo 3DS Stand Is Bundled Free With All Copies Of Kid Icarus Uprising In North America

Nintendo of America has confirmed that the snazzy Nintendo 3DS stand that I reported on yesterday will come bundled with all copies of Kid Icarus: Uprising in North America. Kid Icarus: Uprising is due for release in North America and Europe in March.

“Nintendo is including a free stand with all copies of the Kid Icarus: Uprising game for the Nintendo 3DS system.”

“The stand holds the Nintendo 3DS at an angle above any flat surface and provides players with a comfortable option for playing. The game’s control scheme was designed to fit the game’s unique blend of flight, shooting and melee combat, and offers tremendous precision. Our product testing demonstrated that players found the stand to be comfortable and enjoyable.”

  1. It kinda reminds me of that speed board thing from he NES days… I peice of plastic you stick the NES controller… I can’t remember if this was before after turbo controllers o.o

  2. Am I the only one who doesn’t understand what this thing could be good for and what the point of it is ?
Imagining to play like that seems rather uncomfortable to me.

        • I guess both of the mentioned things don’t make much sense.
I can’t even really tell if you both are being sarcastic or not…
I mean, there are other games where you have to hold the 3DS with only one hand. And the 3DS would be one of the last handhelds to be considered as “heavy”…
And why should it be uncomfortable to hold the system and the controls at the same time ? Aren’t we doing that with every handheld ? Especially with the DS’s touch pens ?
It just seems like a useless gimmick to me. …Well, Is it even a gimmick ?
Anyway, if it comes free with every Kid Icarus copy, sure, why not ? But if people would have to pay extra money for it… I don’t know.
Good choice of Nintendo to include it for free.

There’s the answer. It’s comfortable, apparently.

  3. A piece of plastic that I will either have to recycle or throw in my junk closet. Seriously, when am I ever going to use this, it doesn’t look comfortable at all. If I need something to rest my hands on, I lay in my bed and rest the 3DS on my pillow. And who is going to be toting this around with them unless they have a carrying bag for their 3DS or a spacious bag/purse?

    • Wow, it’s free and you still fucking complain. How stupid. You don’t HAVE to use it if you don’t want to, you don’t HAVE to carry it everywhere since it’s not NECESSARY to play the game, just recycle it and stop complaining.

  4. Seems like one of the most unnecessary accessory ever made. Why not just use your knee or whatever?

Guess this makes it more of a standheld rather than handheld.

  5. I bet u it’s gonna make the game cost mor than the originally 40 dollars it might be like 50 or something but yeah it might be good for recoding 3d videos ha

  8. Don’t really see the… use… for this device, but whatever. Maybe it will hold the 3DS in the perfect position to see the system’s 3D capabilities, that would actually be useful.

  9. Hey! I’m a lefty so maybe this would be good for Swapnote. Then my hand won’t keep hitting the D-pad while I’m drawing & erasing what I just drew! My co-worker & I have been sending each other appropriately questionable yet amusing pics & notes thru Swapnote. Well, I work in a video-game store & sent her one thru StreetPass. Turns out I also StreetPassed with a customer or 2 that day. So they ended up with a note that said “I can see the future” & a 3D pic of a spoonful of Alpha-Bits that spelled “POOP”. Probably should’ve sent that one thru SpotPass…………. (Thank god they didn’t get our Kirby drawings) XD

    • As far as I know, when you send a note via streetpass, it only goes to who you send it to, not everyone you streetpass with.

      • I know SpotPass lets you select the friend you’re going to send it to. But with the StreetPass option it just says “send to your friends” thru StreetPass. So, I’ll ask my room-mate later, if he got that one because we StreetPass every single day & we’re 3DS “friends” & I didn’t specifically send it to him. Either way, the way I understand it now is; the customers would have had to be registered as a friend with my 3DS as well as having Swapnote on THEIR 3DS. So, no innocent bystanders were harmed. In that case; let the inappropriate juvenile antics continue! :D

  10. It doesn’t take that much fuck logic… It’s for the AR cards feature… if you have to complain wait until you know what the hell you’re talking about

  11. hurray a piece of platic i will use once to see if i like it… if not (probably the latter) then i will throw it next to my bed and play it without it… didn’t sickr say somewhere that kid icarus supports the circlepad pro anyway… if so then i will most likely use the circle pad pro.

  12. not only will this help those who want to use it while playing the game but it will also act as a tripod for filming things or playing AR games. Also when people tried the game at various game shows were the 3DSs not resting on a stand similar to this one?

  16. Honestly, I find it kinda useful for if you want to be an LPer like I do. Just get a camera, place it in front of the 3DS display, and make sure it’s still!
