Nintendo has revealed the next 3D Mario game during today’s E3 Nintendo Direct broadcast with a trailer, which you can watch above. Super Mario 3D World is its name and the company has announced that it will feature a multiplayer mode for up to four players featuring Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Peach. The game will be released in December.

Flint, they already did that in in SMB2, same with Toad, if you can play as Toad and Peach again, then it might be like SMB2, Wart might even make a comeback, as well as the dream-land of Sub-con (or something like that.)

This was the only game that impressed me honestly. Well I guess Smash Bros. in cel-shade for 3DS was interesting and Mega Man but really it was an awful direct. Nintendo really screwed up.

yes…… agree. really im kinda done with nintendo. it kinda sucks because they were so good and now its just gimicks and the games are not very cool anymore, everything to no 3rd party and horrible localizations. even that x game, the only real big thing and it looks like its not even anything but going around in fucking robots, does it even have a story, is it even anything like xenoblade was besides of the world being big?????? it sounded to me like all it was is going around in a huge world flying in robots and shit.

I wanted a game like the real 3d Mario. 64 sunshine and galaxy. this game is like an expansion of 3d land. that game is amazing but on a small portable console! I wanted an open world adventure not a 3d version of nsmb. I don’t think ill give Nintendo my money for this game. they should have made this instead of nsmbu and still given us a true 3d Mario game.

I think maybe a leadership change is needed. I love iwatta but after wii u I think he should step down from some of his duty’s. and let someone new and fresh take over. Nintendo need new everything. new image, new games and new ips. Nintendo have never been so repetitive before. each Mario game until the nsmb games were all unique. now even Mario kart is looking tired.

A hubless, linear “3D Mario” is not a 3D Mario at all. You’d almost think it makes sense to expect that the company who is responsible for those legendary fantastic games would understand this – but apparently – they don’t.

I really don’t like the art style. It seems so redundant. Super Mario 1, 2, 3, World, Yoshi’s Island, etc. They never repeated themselves. I’m getting sick of the same look at feel for every Mario game.

Looks that way.. they show the characters throwing items like in Mario 2, and they also gave the characters all their original abilities, including jumping height and running speed (although Toad now jumps as high as Mario, probably because there is no “charge jumping” and didn’t want to make low platforms only for Toad etc)
I am not understand why people are “disapointed” its a great game from what it looks like. I like the fact that the charaters have different abilities like in SB2, different set up than the last two installments for WII and WII U. Its called Super Mario 3D, its based of the the 3DS system game. This was not news people, what were you expecting? I think people create false expectations just to bitch.
I will say the fact that Mario Kart is not going to be released until 2014 is a dissapointment. I would assume that Nintendo would have pushed this game to come out sooner. If anything Mario Kart is the game everyone is excited about. It’s been over 5 years since the last and that was one of the Biggest Games of all time for Nintendo.
It looks fun, but was nowhere near the kind of Mario game I expected. This was supposed to be a grand Mario adventure :\
I’m pretty sure Nintendo did tell people this was another 3D Mario game as the “main” series, like Galaxy, Mario 64, etc.. And people thought they were going to have another one like them, at least to Galaxy. So that’s why many got disappointed I think. This is great as a sequel for Mario 3D Land but it’s not so great that this was the first “3D” Wii U game for Mario for the main series or worse “direction”.
I might get this game but I will never view this as the real 3D Mario main series like Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy.. xD It’s pretty much Mario 3D land that was very restricted and “level” like sort of like NSMB..

After the grandiose epicness that were the two Galaxy games, this seems BIG step backwards; it’s just NSMB with 3D Land’s style of semi-3D levels; no innovation here.
Unless you’re telling me that the cat suit and Peach not being kidnapped is the big innovation here.

Man, the Nintendo haters are out in force!! I think 3D World looks like a blast, it’s called FUN people, anybody remember FUN? Nintendo remembers fun, heck they ARE fun! Many people are just so jaded these days they can’t see how amazing these new games are. I’d say WiiU will have the best games come the holiday season, there’s no comparison between fun Nintendo games and the ever tiring manshoot genre that will dominate the PS4 and Xbox One.
Good job Nintendo, now just make sure there’s no delays. Also, get Hotline Miami 2 on there!!

This is what I would label an “An thing Game”, meaning theres no real direction, just a lot of stuff just thrown together. Have to say Mario Galaxy looked better.
This Mario game looks pretty great, but also pretty generic. It looks a lot like the 3DS one. Ah well, no matter. I’ll still be picking this one up for the Wii U!
Looks like fun and I’ll get it because I loved ‘3D Land’ but it’s definitely not what I was expecting or hoping for from them especially after the amazing ‘Galaxy’ series which are absolute my favorite Mario games. I have a strong feeling though that they’re just releasing this to hold us off until the REAL 3D mario game comes out.

Seriously, how exactly is this that different from Super Mario Galaxy? Because there are individual levels with flagpoles instead of slightly larger levels with multiple stars?
It’s EXACTLY the same formula, it is Mario platforming, the graphics and gameplay are made pretty much in the same style as Galaxy, just as 3D Land’s were, but in HD, the only thing really missing would be the gravity mechanic and space backgrounds (Which is really the only thing that gave a unique feel to Galaxy’s art style, which still consistent mostly of very basic blocks and materials), everything else is virtually Super Mario Galaxy, you have your 3D movement, your occasional 2D platforming, your old and new enemies, power ups, bosses, landscapes, etc, seriously, just because it isn’t throwing in a space gimmick and having you to go to the same level four-six times it doesn’t mean that the game is not gonna be rich on content, and the story is obviously gonna be different, haven’t you been bitching that Peach is just too ineffectual? Well, the bitch is throwing fire now, so she’s not the damsel in distress any more, she’s an actual character, we’ll be getting a neat story, you’ll see.
I also didn’t know what to feel when I saw this, but then I understood all of this, I looked at Galaxy, stripping it of all the hype and understood it for what it is, and this seriously isn’t that far from it, it just does away with the space theme, everything else is left untouched, and in change we’re given new mechanics like the cat suit and the 3D multiplayer.
Don’t be so reticent to change people, everything evolves, Mario is still doing his thing, he just changed the THEME again, like Sunshine (Isle) and Galaxy (Space) once did, it is fine, you’re gonna love it, and in six years, when the next Mario comes, I’ll be hearing you say “This is shit, I wanted 3D Land 3”, after all, that’s what all of you did to Sunshine.
no, this is bullshit, nintendo ran out of ideas, and brought 3D land to the big console, and changed the title to 3D world. Oh, and they wanted to give mario a girly side.
I really like that they took this approach. Its really about making the game fun, and this game looks very much so. I the middle of all this complaints, I applaud Nintendo that know how to make things fun, instead of just making flashy garbage, like everyone else.
