In a move that has confused many, Nintendo has removed the long-awaited Bayonetta 2 from its 2013-2014 Wii U exclusives trailer. Bayonetta 2 had featured on the previous trailer, but it’s noticeably absent on the current one. Whether we should be worried that the game has slipped remains to be seen, but it’s certainly odd that it’s not been featured.

It could happen, but I doubt that’s why it was removed. It’s very likely going to remain an exclusive for a few years or forever. BUT since it is a SEGA IP, it could still become a multiplatform title in the future (think Mass Effect, Bioshock, Ninja Gaiden, etc.).
A more likely reason behind the removal of the clip is that the title has been delayed or removed for content.

A) they should have brought Galaxy 2 and Zelda SS straight to the WiiU
B) either make the Wii U as strong as the XO or make that Padscreen a “3D” screen… (just giving giving it a touch screen ain’t anything special today, in the tablet and smart phone era…) and should have realises, that MS and Sony would catch up with the casual fun trend
C) Nintendo should have payed for ZombiU 2, Rayman exclusivity and keep Bayonneta2…. (even if Wonderfull 101 didn’t sell as they wanted.. but then again, just what did they really expect from that game??)
D) not bring out games like Pikmin 3, Zelda WW HD, DKCTF (comming soon) nstead fokus on a new Zelda or Mario Kart faster.., besides a modern Metroid (more like ME).., but then again, Miyamoto doen’t play core games, so he has no idea…
E) … bring out an 100% compatible Wii U2 by the summer 2015 (with a bit over PS4 power), and offer all Wii U users 1 free Wii U2 game for free (via download), to make up to them for buying the Wii U…, or this will become worse than the Game Cube era….. (but exclusives like Mario and Zelda, wont seel near as much, since they’ll look pale in comparsion too the other consoles.. unlike with the NGC, which still looked good for it’s time)
F) actually, just say you good buy to the Wii U… (at least the 3DS is selling…., if Nintendo thinks it can just depend blindly on Miyamoto all the time, without realising, there other great games and gameplay out there, Nintendo will lose all…, Nintendo has to “catch” up with the trends and not fight such a single battle anymore.. (but sure, keep up some of they’re “oldschool” franchise..)

I *do* think it will remain an exclusive, but there’s always the chance that SEGA could port it to other systems in coming years after the initial release. They still have control of the IP. Think of how Microsoft originally published Mass Effect, but it was released on PS3 eventually. The same goes for Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge. It was originally published by Nintendo in North America, but then was released on other platforms by the owner of the IP, Tecmo Koei.
As long as the ownership of the IP falls in a third-party’s possession, there’s always a chance of it being a multiplatform title. A chance, but not necessarily a probability.

There’s a difference between this and games like Ninja Gaiden: Nintendo is paying for ALL of the development costs, and that’s likely part of a contractual agreement.

It’s a joint publishing partnership between SEGA and Nintendo. SEGA still holds the rights to the IP. It can happen, dude. I have been working in the gaming industry for over four years now studying up quite a bit on these matters.
As I said, will it happen? Probably not any time soon. CAN happen? Yes. It technically (and legally) can.
Microsoft funded Mass Effect as well, fanboys swore up and down it would stay a Microsoft exclusive because of that. But look where it ended up: PlayStation. Why? Bioware held the rights to the IP which transferred over to EA once they were acquired by them.
This is just one of a few examples. Games can be funded and published by one company as a system exclusive and eventually go to another system.
If Nintendo owned the IP, then I would agree, this game will never go to another system. But they don’t. End of story.

Sega owns the IP but has no claim to the publishing of the game or any work on Bayonetta 2. That is entirely Nintendo’s, and as was said in the event that Bayonetta 2 ends up getting ported to another system it will be entirely up to Nintendo, not Sega…
if Sega wants it to port, they are going to have to rebuild the game ground up or pay Nintendo a heap of cash for their work, but legal things aren’t best area. But yes its kinda possible but its up to sega if they want to put up with this kinda stuff

It has changed. I started out as a communications tech with an (outsourced) business consolidator. Went into PR. Right now I’m back working as a tech for a different company here, but in-house (IT, networks, setting up and moderating VOIP meetings between companies, etc.). Doing a part time at a retail store too (although that’s not part of the industry thing, I thought I would throw it in there).
Throughout that time I have worked freelance journalism, writing, doing photography, and video editing. Right now, I kind of dropped out of the “official” freelancing and started my own indie thing since I didn’t like how that side of the industry was going. I still stay in touch with tons of employees from various gaming companies and we do “business,” but I haven’t been too active recently because of my regular job(s).
And if you want to count this *shrug*, it doesn’t really count, but I was a manager at game store for a little bit. I guess if you add that, then it’s 5 years (before everything else). I mean, we did get some info before the public here and there, did have meetings with companies like Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Activision, EA, etc. but nothing too major.

Doubt it means anything, seems more like a regional thing to be honest, but in the end, Nintendo are funding it….that’s the plain fact. Unless Sega struck a deal with Nintendo, and they’re going to publish it instead, which isn’t out of possibility, i’d say it doesn’t mean anything.

I made that comment based on the thoughts of wanting it multi plat and I don’t mean restricted in that way I mean if it’s on ps4 it will be a bigger and overall better game due to the power difference in systems not to mention it was originally on ps3/360 so it would make sense. Bayonetta in general has fanbase like pikmin its not a huge fan base. I still want people to enjoy the damn and i do wish it was multi. We haven’t seen that much of the game we have no idea now big the game is. Its up to developers how they push the game its not always the hardware. Look at xenoblade its a huge freakin game with over 100 hours of gameplay. Power doesn’t mean a game will be better, it depends on the devs skill and ideas that make the game well. It was develop on ps3 and 360 but its going to wii u which has a little more beef then the two, at times it done better then the two. Wonderful 101 had many factors on why it didn’t sell like gta lack advertising, reviews(which people should ignore) and lack of over all word about it. Many of my friends like bayonetta and are getting a wii u just to play it. It sucks some fans may be left out but the game will always be around to pick up later down the road. I’ve had many times where i wanted to play a game series i’ve liked but it got switch down the line. I might get a xbone just for kI because i’ve played just about all of them in the series. In the end bayonetta is on wii u because of nintendo, no doubt it may have been bigger on ps4 depending on the devs and i would like everyone to have a chance to play the game.
