Nintendo 3DS Receiving Miiverse Update On Monday?

Nintendo Force writer Emily Rogers has teased on Twitter that there’s a surprise coming to Nintendo 3DS owners tomorrow. Rogers says that after the planned maintenance something exciting should happen, which presumably means that Miiverse will finally be live on the Nintendo 3DS. Miiverse for the Nintendo 3DS has been met with some controversy as it won’t support message exchange between friends, or even friend requests.

Monday night, after the maintenance, will be exciting for 3DS owners. I’m not allowed to say why, but I’m sure you can figure it out.

Thanks, 3dsucker

    1. Only that they’re not really Friend Codes, they’re more Unique Console ID Codes (despite still being called Friend Codes, I know). There isn’t one per game like there were back in the DS/Wii days.

      1. Yea but the whole friend code thing is a hassle and just outdated. Also if it’s geekverse and Nintendo id we wont be able to message people on OUR friends list so what’s the point ?? what’s the fact that they wont allow messaging is idiotic

        1. It’s a hassle, yes, and it is outdated, yes, but it was what Nintendo nominated to do because they like to be different.

I want concrete evidence on this prevention of messaging through the 3DS Miiverse. They only blocked it on Letter Box because dicks decided to send images of child exploitation through it (which I’m heavily against).

          1. its so stupid cuz i emailed nin about whether or not the Miiverse will replace FCs but they didnt know. -_-‘ i knew then not to get excited cuz i’ll just get disappointed. (again)

        2. It does seem pretty stupid to release an update with miiverse and and not being able to message your friends. I mean it’s the reason Nintendo made miiverse, but seriously nintendo.

  1. We shall see what happens tomorrow then. Hopefully it is the (somewhat perhaps) account unification update we’ve been wanting for a very very long time. Still a few questions left to answer in respect of that.

  2. Yaaaaaay shared wallets! Now I can buy Pikmin 3 and fire emblem awakening dlc. Hopefully the club Nintendo awards are kickass, and a lot of vc games are added this month…

          1. Community comments, yes. Messaging friends or friend requests from 3DS, no.

And I was praying to god like hell that this could finally kill and bury that BS friend codes system forever..but no because 1. Some perverted dicks wanna abuse and posts sick stupid shit on Swapnote to have Nintendo to be forced on Hardcore Child Safety mode and 2. Nintendo takes this way too seriously and child proofing everything they could except why not do it on Wii U too since it’ll happen there as well. Which BTW, that Swapnote incident is also their fault for building a messaging app without security, incident reporting or moderation.

Stuff like this will happen regardless but funny thing is that I thought Nintendo were always moderating on Miiverse like when inappropriate stuff is posted on Wii U (or so they consider “inappropriate), its almost immediately removed. So why not do the same for 3DS if they’re THAT dedicated to gamer’s safety and respect. 3DS Miiverse should’ve been much like Wii U’s as it answers to most of Swapnote’s predicament. After hyping everyone from that Direct reveal, they just shot that hype completely just a day after saying “Nope. You still can’t message friends nor send friend requests ala you’re still stuck with Friend Codes. Too bad” I swear if more of this BS keeps up, I’m gonna quit Nintendo gaming for the last time and move elsewhere.

        1. I’ve never messaged anybody on the WiiU, never felt the need too. I’m just happy we get Miiverse on 3DS at all :)

          1. And I’m also happy to be stuck with BS Friend Code system. :) Yeah. 3DS (Web Browser version but slower) Miiverse will be great! *sarcasm*

    1. Exactly lets see the fanboys praise and damage control no messaging and friend codes because that’s all they do, damage control Nintendo’s stupid decisions LOL

      1. “Exactly lets see the fanboys praise and damage control no messaging and friend codes”.

LOL, lets see how many trolls with come and bash because that all they do.

Oh sorry, I had too…you left yourself wide open for that attack, but I don’t see any damage controlling here…mainly because nobody gives a shit and that was a fail trolling?

      2. I’m a fan of them but I can clearly see their recent stupid ass decisions they make left and right child proofing everything again due to their fault with Swapnote and how they’re handling Wii U..which is to say not at all and that’s why PS4/Xbox is kicking its ass without doing much.

I’m not damage controlling their BS and if this continues, believe me, I will jump ship for the final time and go for PS4.

    1. I believe you can read the posts and post to the community but you cannot add friends or communicate privately with a person.

        1. A example is when the wiiu gets the gameboy advance games we can post on miiberse than they should also put them on the 3ds.

  3. it’s a start. one step closer to those unified accounts. there’s a shared wallet now so hopefully later we can share virtual console games between devices

  4. i wouldn’t believe everything you find on forums, that image of that email by a Nintendo representative could have been photo shopped or maybe the customer service representatives aren’t always in the loop by what Nintendo are doing

  5. Niintendo, there will always be trolls, and it’s not your fault bad things happened in the 3DS social stuff, there are parents controls, so these parents need to be responsible and put them on, but the rest of adult players who want to message and add friends are the ones affected by these, the ones that have the money to buy your stuff!

    1. Actually that Swapnote incident was their fault too. They didn’t put any kind of reporting, moderation or security to monitor any possible abuses. That’s where I was hoping the 3DS Miiverse would come in and resolve since all that moderation is on Wii U to prevent any nonsense posts like that from happening. But nope. Nintendo once again goes into full Child Proof Safety Parental mode and gimping everything good about 3DS now what’s the point of having friends there if you can’t communicate directly and whatever happened to Parental Controls which is there? Why does exists if Nintendo is gonna unnecessarily do it themselves? Might us well do it on Wii U’s version and kill any hope for that console as well and no more hardcore audience and faith for Nintendo. I might as well just sell my consoles and get a PS4 because this is pure BS for me and I’ve been a fan of Nintendo since the early 90s/NES days.

  6. But what is the point of Miiverse on 3ds if you can’t use it the same way WiiU uses it. Can’t even write messages there! So then is it just checking what people from wiiu write there about games.

    1. I’m pretty sure that Nintendo already said that the 3DS Miiverse will have 3DS game communities. You will probably be able to comment/post on the communities, however you can’t post personal messages to friend through it like u can on the WiiU, so 3DS Miiverse still seems neat to me.

      1. ohh okay! so only not personal messages. that is great then! is like official forums for people to discuss all kinds of games. i wonder if we can post screenshots there too right from the game. well will have to wait and see

  7. I read many comments and it seemed that many people were confused about the Miiverse on 3DS. Actually, we can post our comments on Miiverse (let us think about the forum or board), but the downside is we cannot exchange comments directly to our friends (just for an example: swapnote). Therefore, I think that Miiverse is still relevant and useful for 3DS.

  10. Still not excited or happy since Nintendo asked for the Swapnote incident to happen and didn’t use their brains to bring in full Miiverse to 3DS which would’ve resolved most of Swapnote’s problems.

Pointlessly child proofing everything when Parental controls are present and Miiverse actually has security closely monitoring inappropriate posts like on Wii U. If this keeps up, Wii U sales won’t pick up or if Wii U Miiverse gets gimped itself, I officially call it quits on Nintendo and wish them a happy life on making shit being called kiddy or whatever. I’m gonna miss their games when and if I leave.

  11. I can understand Swapnote (Nintendo Letterbox in other areas) lost it’s capability of the Spotpass function doe to some dickish idiots sending negativity of porn to other people by getting fc’s from other 3DS users, and I can cope with why 3DS Miiverse has to rid the message exchange and friend request! Because they don’t want the same issue to happen twice! Thankfully, the WiiU version has capabilities to where you can only submit photos from certain software, like New Super Mario Bros. U, Super Mario 3D World, or upload your shots from Animal Crossing New Leaf via Animal Crossing Plaza!
