News has emerged that suggests Nintendo now has a market value higher than all of Sony combined. Nintendo has recently been performing well for investors as their stock prices are currently on the rise and they have a market capitalisation that now stands at $18.4 billion. The Kyoto based company’s share price has also been boosted by the announcement that China will lift its ban on home consoles. Sony has seen extremely positive sales of the recently released PlayStation 4, but has had some movies perform below expectations such as After Earth and problems at the company’s music and laptop divisions.

Sony does well in film, but in recent years they have seen that market eroded by RED, Blackmagic and a few other smaller companies that have really taken over.
Olympus has always had a pretty good monopoly on Medical and Science optics. Sony is just trying to make headway when they bought Minolta.

60FPS+ 3D = heaven. Higher resolution or HD would probably work wonders as well. Remember the Gamepad is only 480p yet it looks better than most 720p TV’s due to higher Pixel density.
China= HUGE market for Nintendo. PC gaming is already big in China and I believe has 86% of market, so Im sure they will continue playing all they FPS and “hardcore” games on PC. Leaving little room to grow market share in China. Nintendo is exclusive and will sell TONS of 3DS and quite a few WiiU.

Great news for Nintendo, but I hope Sony recovers. They should be okay as soon as PS4 gets some games, around March.
Their TV, computer, and film divisions are their problem. They would likely be functioning at modest profit if they were only a video game company. The only reason they aren’t bankrupt as of right now is because they sold some real estate and because of their insurance business. Their video game division is one of their only profitable ventures.

As an Eletronics company, I used to swear by Sony’s products (so did my brother). Nearly all of my electronics are Sony brand. My tv, CD recorder, stereo receiver, and 400-disc CD changer/jukebox are all Sony. And at one time, my VCR’s and DVD players etc. was Sony too.
It’s weird because, as a video game company, I never felt the same about Sony. I guess because Nintendo already had first place in my heart. Nothing could ever change that. But I still respect Sony and the Playstation brand more than I’ll ever respect or care about Microsoft and the Xbox brand. I can’t believe the Xbox has so many fans. I own the original Xbox, and it was complete garbage. The only thing that was cool about it was the CD Ripper. Which ironically, nobody ever talked about.
