Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has reiterated his stance on a Wii U price drop. In a recent interview with CVG he said the console could elevate sales if sold at the “right price”. The publisher’s CEO has driven this point across by adding that their mystery family friendly game will only come to Nintendo’s latest home console if it expands its install base.
However, Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata has previously mentioned that another Wii U price drop – following its £30 cut last August – is currently not an option, though a core focus on quality titles and one game’s driving force can elevate sales in the long-run. Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot said the publisher would continue to support the Wii U with the few games coming this year.
“We are coming with Watch Dogs and Just Dance this year. We also have another game on the shelves that we expect to come at some point when there will be more machines.
“With Mario Kart, Wii U made one step and we expect with Smash Bros. it will also do more. If Nintendo put the right price on the machine then they will probably have a chance to do further.
“Nintendo has to perform this year, otherwise they will have less games. Justifying investing in the machine needs a larger installbase.”

But I personally loved Assassin’s Creed III and IV (aside from those real-time sequences, which was boring as ASS). Just as I became a Ubisoft fan, they refused to bring future A.C. titles to Wii U, and turned me against them.
Same thing happened to me. I played Red Steel 2 from Ubisoft but that was just one game, so not enough for me to become a fan of them. Then I played Assassin’s Creed III. The game was great, aside from that damn annoying 2nd holster glitch (which still isn’t fixed!) which I let slide. Then I played Assassin’s Creed IV. This game was a step up from the previous one. The Assassination Mission glitch with the target escaping on a boat was a pain in the ass but I let that slide since I was fine with waiting for a patch. But then certain unlockables would not show up in replay missions which REALLY pissed me off because I like to see my customizations to the character’s appearance & the weapons I assigned him. The delay of the finished Rayman Legends was a letdown, but it didn’t bother me too much. Then came the delay of Watch_Dogs for Wii U. Rayman Legends delayed for Wii U even though it was finished+2nd Holster Glitch of Assassin’s Creed 3 which still isn’t fixed+Assassin’s Creed 4 with the glitched Assassination Contract Mission & certain unlockables not showing up in replay missions+the delay of Watch_Dogs for Wii U because apparently the Sony & Microsoft fanbase was apparently more important than the Nintendo fanbase+no new Assassin’s Creed games=Fuck you, too, Ubisoft! >.<

The PS4 sold 7M up to Mid-April 2014, let’s say they sold 9M units up to now (June 2014). The xbox 1 sold 6M units (I mean real sell, not the units sent to distributors) which is less than Nintendo.
Why Nintendo should drop their price? The lack of interest for the wii U are the lack of games which is due to 3rd party not releasing game on this system. Mario kart is a good example of why people will buy the Wii U. The system needs to have a good library of games which will make people to justify buying a wii U and not a price drop (at least at the moment).

If I remember very well Ubisoft is the company which finished Rayman legend which should have been an exclusive to Wii U but decide to hold off for 9 months and develop the PS3/XBOX360 version of it. The same company which delay watch Dog for the Wii U for 4 months but release the PS3/Xbox360/PS4 and xbox1 version. Assassin’s Creed 3 has a few annoying, persistent glitches on the Wii U. Zombie U had some glitches of their own for a few people that had to trade them in for a different copy. Rayman Legends was delayed for Wii U even though it was finished & ready for release. Assassin’s Creed 4 is missing DLC that some people will gladly buy & some outfits & weapons won’t appear in replay missions like the Gold Flintlock Pistols. So yes. Of course they didn’t make money because of bullshit like that. People that buy Nintendo consoles EXPECT high quality games because of Nintendo’s seal of approval. You give shitty treatment, you get shitty sales.

Nintendo fans are fine, it’s the fanboys that get insane like that. I’m a Nintendo fan, though I personally don’t like most Ubisoft games I play. I actually have preferred EA in the past. But seriously, I doubt any of these people even look at sales numbers. Beyond the exclusives, the best selling games on the Wii U were Assassins Creed with only a couple hundred thousand each, and the next games down were lucky to even break 100k, most didn’t. Ubisoft is actually pretty lucky, there games did sell somewhat on the system, but overall Nintendo fanboys, and even regular Nintendo single-console fans don’t give much attention to multi-plats. Most don’t have the finesse, the smoothness, and the simplicity that Nintendo makes standard in their games. Take a simple concept and expand on it, that’s Nintendo, These games that don’t follow that concept tend to not appeal to the majority of Nintendo gamers. Or even if they do, they aren’t Nintendo made, so many will overlook it. The worst argument these guys make is “I bought it so they’re loosing a customer in me with this”, but that’s complete bs, cause these guys spend ridiculous amounts of money on making these games. It would take millions in sales to breach that game and even Super Mario 3D World has only sold between 1 and 2 million. If that game isn’t breaking at least 5 million, there’s no way these guys can hope for their games to break 1 or more million like they’d need to make their profit. The Wii U does need a bigger install base, because it has first-party games and even they aren’t selling that well. Maybe the Xbox One has less units sold, but the people buying those systems don’t have much choice and they have a higher attach rate to games like what Ubisoft makes over Nintendo gamers. That’s why Nintendo needs a larger install base. And let’s not forget the growth rate is taken into consideration when deciding where to put games. The Wii U is selling at a snail’s pace and the Xbox One is actually selling at a decent rate, so where it may have been just shy of 5 million at the last briefing, it’s probably closing in on 6 million now, whereas the Wii U was at just over 6 million in December and is probably only just above 6.5-6.7 now, courtesy of Mario Kart being released. More new people buying into the console every week means that many more people are gonna be looking to the newest games that just came out or even came out a few months ago, which means the games they release have a better chance of being picked up. Maybe the Wii U would sell better with a price drop, it would be in the “secondary-console” territory of pricing then, but Nintendo probably can’t afford to take a $50 loss like that. The system started at a loss at $350, it’s probably a safe bet that dropping another $50 would put it back into debt again for a while. What they need is enough consistent quality games and to get rid of these 3 month droughts of no titles with only single titles between. I didn’t buy into DK, so Mario Kart was my first Wii U game in 6 months. Nobody wants to wait like that to get a single title they want, and I’m only a moderate fan of Mario Kart, I’m mostly a Zelda guy, so it’s not like this game was some huge revolution for me. Get the point? People want more options and won’t buy in without them, and these guys won’t put games on for people who, majority, don’t care for more options. Not to mention, the Wii U’s numbers aren’t as good as you think. A lot of people have returned their Wii Us, which is unfortunate. But you can get a refurbished one from Nintendo for only $200 and it comes with Nintendo Land :D

The WiiU has always been overpriced, it should have been $299 when it came out and last August they should have dropped the price to $250. It’s got a fucking updated GameCube CPU for God’s sake. I could understand if they put an updated PS3 CPU from IBM, but the damn GameCube CPU, shit I would have put both in, and 128Gig storage. You can buy an Xbox360 with 250Gig for $260 at Walmart and you can buy a PS3 with 500Gig for $270 at Walmart right now and the WiiU costs $299 with 32Gig? That makes no sense.

To be honest Ubisoft haven’t done themselves any favors with Watch Dogs , I don’t expect it to do as well as they’d like it to on Wii U for a few reasons. I expect they might be aware of this and I still wouldn’t be surprised if they cancelled the release.
1) IMO I think more people would prefer to play a game like Watch Dogs on Xbox / PS / or PC 2) Delaying it on Wii U likely means that most of the people out there who own multiple consoles will have already bought and played it on another machine. 3) Even if you only own a Wii U, by the time this game comes out for Wii U, its old news as there will be other newer games to get excited about.

Let’s just ignore the fact that they can have a limited release of their games for Wii U. If there is demand for more, release more. But no! They’d rather release over 7 million copies then expect them all to sell. And when they don’t, blame the consumers.

Well, Ubisoft, EA, Capcom…they aren’t focused so much on making games anymore, making portals to new worlds & experiences. No, seems they’re more focused on making portals to online stores & vehicles for DLC. Apparently, the games themselves aren’t enough to generate the kinda profits they’re seeking. Maybe it’s simply greed, or they’re overexerting themselves by devving costly games, but they’ve turned their place in the industry into a racket. Either way, the more profits they make, the less risks they’re willing to take, whether on a console or a new game.
Ubisoft never has anything i wanna play anyhow… so i don’t care.
