I respect your feelings toward indies; you like what you like & dislike what you dislike. But lumping them all into 1 category I think is misguided. Many are hard working (have to be) & passionate. Many of their games are polished & appear to be fully-realized. They also cover various genres which many bigger companies have abandoned.
Indies are helping uphold the core philosophy of the industry, 1 that was an integral part of Atari, SEGA, Sony, & many 3rd parties, & is still an integral part of Nintendo.
WayForward has done a fantastic job w/ their games. Plus, they support Nintendo when it’s in vogue to hate Nintendo, & support Wii U when most publishers & shareholders are blinded & trapped by the “AAA”, FPS/Open World, photorealistic syndrome that’s killing the industry. Indies refuse to let the heart of gaming die, or they simply understand a sustainable business model.

She actually has a great potential moveset that, if imemented well, would stand out amongst most of the other characters. She can dance, and transform into different animals with unique abilities and characteristics. She can use her hair as a close-combat whip. She can also dance in order to do special things like teleportation. The animal transformation has the most potential I believe. especiay since she transforms into such a variety. She could very well work out like a more controllable version of Pokemon trainer.

Snakes been in a previous smash and was around on the NES. He was even supposed to be on the N64 until Nintendo scrapped the disc drive and this PlayStation was born. Plus multiple MGS games have been on Nintendo platforms including the more recent snake eater 3D. They might want to do some major work on those last three colors/outfits- they look way to similar to each other.
Still, it seems like WayForward will be pretty adamant about working with Nintendo to get Shantae into the game if the fans want her.
It’s mainly the middle color. Which if you’ve played the games is pretty easy to tell apart.
The last one is a whole new outfit altogether made for the purpose of the Pirate-themed sequel.
Okay, I haven’t played the games, but think about it: in a game like Smash, if the characters look very similar, get all close together and then all of them get knocked around by something, players might get confused about which one was them and where they went flying.
Smash has a player number over the characters. P1, P2, P3, P4, etc. etc.
If that’s an issue for you, you shouldn’t be playing Smash.
I’ve been to tournaments where big hits or explosions happened and the players briefly lost tabs on their character because they were bouncing around so much- it’s not an impossibility for that to happen.

That Vampire Killer! A whip user! Sometimes I have to cringe at the fact that some other characters may make their way into Smash. Associating with Nintendo is a key factor that shouldn’t be overlooked, and the importance of other guidelines like if they’re solid characters in their own right or are they simply copies or minor past characters.

As Sakurai said, he can’t make Ridley into a fighter because it wouldn’t be Ridley any longer as he’d have to be shrunk down, or it’s wings reduced in size, or be unable to fly around freely. *notices you mentioned Ganondorf* Then again, Ganondorf is a complete contradiction of that “wouldn’t be himself any longer” excuse since he’s just a slower, more powerful Captain Falcon. Oh & then there is the fact Charizard can fly around just as freely in his respective franchise yet he’s playable in Smash in not one but TWO games in the franchise.
Oh & another thing: how is Ridley badass in Smash when he can be tamed & made into anyone’s bitch on the Pyrosphere stage? Even Samus, his sworn enemy, can tame him. Yeah! Sakurai has really kept what he has done with Ridley in Smash 4 true to the character.
That’s a good point about Ridley being tamed, but when you do so he definitely gets you some easy KO’s. Also if anyone could do it, it would be Samus. Besides, it’s not like Ridley is ever all that hard to beat and eventually you can beat him in that stage. As for Ganondorf, he is originally humanoid and likewise in size. He is not in Ganon form which would put him around Ridley’s size. Yeah; He’s a slower, more powerful version of Captain Falcon, but he’s so good at it. However, they could have given him more of his own move-set. He is basically a clone as you say. As for Charizard, he doesn’t really do all that much flying in the franchise and they did give him seismic toss, which I’m pretty happy about. I used to think that the Charizard was too small but then again the size discrepancies with this Pokemon allow it. Regular Charizards aren’t that big.
Remember what Sakurai said about not allowing Ridley in as a playable character? Well replace Ridley’s name with Quadraxis’s & there is your reason why Sakurai won’t bother. :/ Sucks, I know… We’re in the same boat as far as being a playable character is concerned. Then again, Sakurai has made a history of lying his ass off. Like when he said Villager & Mii won’t be in Smash because he/she is not a good choice for a fighting game. But look now: we not only got Villager & Mii as playable characters but Wii Fit Trainer as well! lol So either Sakurai is an idiot or he’s simply trolling people that want Ridley playable. And last time I checked, Sakurai wasn’t an idiot.

This is actually slightly unfair, Developers shouldnt treat their characters like properganda just to get in smash. Every character should have a balanced chance of getting in (not shrek and pewdiepie – they should have 0 chance.)
I believe it has something to do with a meeting with nintendo? I heard somewhere on reddit that nintendo affiliates are being told to advertise their characters for the ballots to show whether they’re ok with their characters being used if they do happen to get voted in. Through green lighting it, meetings will take place or something….not entirely sure, just scanned past a couple posts about it yesterday.
Jesus christ. I knew the Smash fanbase was the essence of acid itself….but these ballots have really extenuated it even further…..it seems to be it’s either first party, removed characters or ridley….anything else should be murdered, burned and thrown in a hole to be eaten by dogs apparently. I love the idea of being able to fight with Shantae, or Bayonetta, or Shovel Knight, or Banjo……I just don’t understand the incessant acidic hate towards opinions that aren’t their own…

Just because her developers want her in doesn’t mean squat. Look how desperate Konami is to have Snake back in Smash, and he’d be a veteran if they brought him back. My guess is that the Smash Ballot is only going to bring in first-party characters, or else it’ll bring in MASSIVE icons like Bomberman or Rayman before Nintendo would begin to being in indie characters.
Actually, as someone has stated, Shantae has been on Nintendo consoles since the GB/GBC days, So she has some history with Nintendo, besides being just a Third Party character.
I think it would be great for here to be in the game this company really do support Nintendo a lot so am going to vote as much as I can to get this character in the game and it would be the first indie character playable in smash that’s big

I love Shantae, and I might have voted for her if I’d known how much Wayforward wanted her in. However, I already voted for someone else who I thought would be more likely to be added. With Wayforward’s support of Nintendo, she would be a much more suitable inclusion than Snake. I wish people would stop asking for him.
The director of Metal Gear Solid really wanted Nintendo to include Snake in Smash, and Nintendo asked if he would bring over MGS V to Wii U and he refused. He said that he had no ideas for the gamepad, however Nintendo does not demand unique gamepad functionality from third parties. All he’d have to use the gamepad for is off tv play and there you go. I would respect him more if he’d give at least a more honest excuse, like it’s too hard to port over games to the Wii U because of its different architecture of the competition, or say that he doesn’t think it would sell enough copies on the Wii U to make it worth the time and effort. Wayforward actually supports Nintendo very strongly, so Shantae deserves to be in Smash more than Snake.
One person used Snake Eater 3D as an example of Metal Gear Solid on a current Nintendo platform to justify their demand for Nintendo to put Snake in. However, that logic is awful since it’s just a remake. Maybe it’s a good remake, but it’s still a remake vs actually new releases like what Wayforward is bringing to the table. I’m not saying that I hate remakes or anything like that, however only having a MGS remake on Nintendo’s platforms and no new entries does not equal Snake deserving to be in Smash.

I heard some third party studios who want their characters in smash but don’t dare/take the risk to support Nintendo on Wii U. If studios like Konami or Rare want their characters in this game they should release a game on this platform i.e. Castlevania or a banjo and kazooie first. I know people will hate me for what I going to say but Ubisoft has more legitimacy than Konami or Rare or Capcom. The other studios who I think deserve a character are Sega, Bandai/Namco

I dont get why some of you are hating on shantae being on smash heres an idea why i think she should be in smash shes iconic for her dancing and music. There isn’t any nintendo or game character in smash besides kirby. I would love to wish to see shantae in smash because i bet it would be rad if I see a character like her dancing while she has made the opponent get knocked out of the stage. Also in the games she has unique abilities and its not just her hair whip. Anyway people who argue about shantae not being in the game obviously your a kid that doesnt know what makes to make a good game. Even angry video game nerd knows what a good game is like and one of his games has good music in them. If nintendo doesnt want to add shantae thats fine but if they do they know what it takes for a character to be iconic not just because of the attack moves but also the groove that shantae gives people and also her music.
