Rumour: Meta Knight Amiibo Showing As Deleted At Best Buy, Potentially Discontinued?

A Nintendo fan has contacted Reddit moderators to inform them that Meta Knight amiibo is showing up as deleted at Best Buy. The Redditor thinks that the character has been discontinued for good and won’t be returning. Nothing has apparently come back to active after being listed as deleted. This is only a rumour for now, so there’s no need to panic.

Saturday (4/4), Meta Knight was marked as Active. However, as of today (4/7) he is now listed as Deleted. In our sources entire 6-7 years at Best Buy, they have never seen anything come back to Active once it was set to this status. This leads our source to believe that Meta Knight is, truly and sincerely, discontinued. Our source also checked for QP+ stores to see if it was just a local thing, but it appears that all stores are showing this

Thanks, MasterPikachu6

  1. I have one but if this is true then all I have to say to Nintendo is F*** you! I have a friend that is a huge Kirby fan and wanted all the characters. So far he just has Kirby because he didn’t realize that toys could be preorder only items.

  2. Metaknight cant move well, everytime i jump, his wings kinda do the effect, not the jump itself. I think its a problem with all Kirby characters, they are all wrong.

I’ve played as all three of them in game. I am not experiencing any problems as you describe.

  3. I have a handful of rare Amiibos I’ve held on to instead of opening like Shulk, Lucario, and Metaknight just in case I couldn’t find Robin or Palutena. If this is true I’m glad I’ll have a bartering item to get the ones I want… I really wanted to keep Metaknight, but now it seems he’s trading fodder. :/

    1. I’ll give you another Meta Knight for Lucina! I want Lucina with all my being. I want Robin as well. I also have Marth. I have Ike. Lucina and Robin will complete my Fire Emblem set!

But I disn’t get a pre-order. I would actually be willing to pay Ebay prices for Lucina.

  4. Little Mac got re-stocked and was off the site. They’re now saying Meta Knight will be re stocked this summer at Best Buy.

  5. This is why the MEDIA keeps making Nintendo situation worse. If you look at the link, the rumor has already being deemed false, by Bestbuy themselves.

Its bad enough when you have Gamestop employees telling people, yeah Nintendo only let us send it to the big stores to and they didn’t get any cause they a smaller store cause Nintendo told them couldn’t instead of filling the preorders. That one nearly broke my bullshit meter.

Here is the real deal, Nintendo will restock most if not all the Amiibos that don’t specifically say limited. Anyways one who says otherwise is being stupid, or trying to get you to buy something for some high price. Manufacturing and then shipping overseas takes time, and at some point most of the Amiibos supply will end up overtaking the demand. Nintendo doesn’t make anything except bad will with customers by not keeping up with supply.

You may think I am defending Nintendo, I am not…I just hate bull.

    1. I don’t think they will restock all the Amiibos. Meta Knight is a niche character, so why would they flood the market with him? Best Buy said on their part the rumor was incorrect, however I bet he really is discontinued. Most Amiibos will be discontined shortly after release. Only the really popular ones will get continued production, which will be less than half.

You have to understand. Once all of these Amiibos are released, there will be at least over seventy of them. Fifty from Smash Bros. alone. You really think Nintendo will have enough shelf space at retailers to stock 70 Amiibos? No, they wont.

The hard fact is, most Amiibos will be discontinued shortly after release, especially the niche ones. To me, this is a good thing. It keeps the collectors market healthy.

      1. Man…I wish there was someway Nintendo could…you know…sell amiibo without having to “fight” for shelfspace like ya know…selling them online- oh wait

      2. Nope, trust me when I say, if they sell out there are more coming. If anyone says otherwise would be incorrect and these news articles, say Nintendo is discontinue that or this, it a big part of the problem.

They are following a similar model that Hasbro does with Transformers or GI Joe. There won’t be 60 they have planned on the shelf at one time, but they will get restocked until they even with demand cause Nintendo doesn’t care about the collector market. Its just common sense that Nintendo is doing this for money and you can’t make money if the product isn’t there to sell while the demand is there.

So far they have confirmed that Little MAC, Captain Falcon, Marth confirmed from Nintendo’s media wires. Villager and Wii Fit Trainer is also getting another run. Toys R Us is even getting a trickle Lucarios. And MetaKnight will be back this summer.

As long as there is money to be made from that figure, they are coming back.

      3. “Only the really popular ones will get continued production, which will be less than half.”

ALL the amiibo are really popular- they sell out within minutes, especially the latest 2 waves!

  6. Most of the semi rare Amiibos (fox, samus, diddy kong, Ike, etc. ect.) were easy to find at retail. Hell, I even remember seeing a rack full of Marths, Wii Fit Trainers, and Villagers at one point. It’s just once they are gone, they’re gone. They never got restocked and once people found that out it just made them want them even more..lol

You tell someone, “hey theres a hundred Mario Amiibos here, you want one?” “No thats ok”

“Hey theres only two Mario Amiibos here and there not making anymore, you want one” “hell yea”
