  1. Batman Arkham Knight? In the top 10???…

That was easily the most disappointing game of this year to me (right next to SW Battlefront). Rise of the Tomb Raider seems pretty farfetched at number 2. But, this is just their opinion, so I guess it doesn’t actually matter. I have NO clue what Prune is.

      1. None has, which either means it’s a very underground, non-commercial game or the list is completely biased. The fact that it’s an iOS game makes me skeptical as well.

    1. I’d definitely recommend Undertale. It’s simply amazing. It has a great story, fantastic (and very loveable) characters, some quite unique gameplay mechanics and absolutely terrific soundtracks. A masterpiece, really. Definitely one of my favourite games of 2015. I’d even go as far as to put it on my list of favourite games of all time, tbh.
Well, just my personal opinion about it, hah.

      1. I do have $10. Ill give Undertale a try if you’re giving it that glowing endorsement. Its just you though, I keep hearing nothing but praise for this game.

          1. I gave it 20 minutes today, and well, Its different. Im not far enough in to judge it just yet, but im liking the whole talking your way out of battles lol. My first encounter was also pretty cool, I wasnt expecting it, I really thought that damn flower was going to help me XD So far I like it.

            1. Nice! Great that you’ve bought it. :)
As kipandperrie and Marce already said, the game starts off a little slow, but once you leave the ruins, things start to get real good from then on.

And I definitely agree, I love the battle system.
And oh boy, the flower, hah. :p

      2. Agreed on pretty much everything. It’s a milestone regarding the implementation of mechanics related to given features (saving/loading) into the narrative.

The fact that the morality system actually affects the story a great deal is just the iceing on the cake.

        1. Absolutely.
Without wanting to spoil anything for anyone, the “true” ending was incredibly well made also. And by “ending”, I mean pretty much everything starting from the first encounter with Asgore. The game actually had me tearing up a couple of times from that point on, hah.

I can’t get myself to do the bad ending though, haha. So I can’t say anything about that one. The characters, even the ones you meet on random encounters, just grew on me too much for me to get myself to do it yet, as silly as it sounds. But I’ll do it eventually, probably (or rather, hopefully) in the next days. :p

          1. Wait until you see the Genocide ending. The True Pacifist run was the one that I liked the least.

I’ve seen a lot of people exaggerating about the Genocide run. It’s honestly not as bad as some people say. It’s worth it for the final boss fight alone. If you can get past Undyne, that is.

            1. Interesting! Definitely sounds intriguing. If the Genocide ending is even better than the Pacifist one, I’m all the more curious about it, simply because I liked the good ending so much already.

        2. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

o.o *interest in this game gets piqued when hearing about a morality system that actually effects the game’s story & ending* @.@ *finds out it is PC only & mimics Eric Cartman’s voice* Lame!

        1. As someone who went for the Pacifist run (as in, good ending) first, I’d recommend you to for the “bad” ending first. You might end up liking the characters too much when aiming for the good ending first, and feel bad about taking the bad route afterwards, like it’s the case for me right now, hah.
But that’s just me, of course. You’d probably get a more meaningful recommendation if you asked someone who has already achieved all endings. :)

  2. I always wonder why publishers like this release “Top 10 Games of the Year” lists before all games for the year have even released yet. What about Xenoblade X? Rainbow Six Seige? Just Cause 3? Uhh… Kung Fu Panda (definitely GOTY amirite)? Okay, there may not be a lot of games this late in the year, but still there’s a decent amount that could end up being amazing or even GOTY.

    1. Not enough time to play and discuss these list before December. I’ve had my AOTY list more or less ready since a week ago (mainly because I don’t see any releases that could make it into my list on the horizon), and those are just albums. I can give them a spin in a couple of hours at most. Imagine how much time you have to spend with a game lile Xenoblade before you can ponder if it’s top of the year material. There’s just not enough time.

        1. Either Boris’ triad of albums (Asia/Warpath/Urban Dance) or Deafheaven’s New Bermuda (the initial hype is starting to slowly fade away with that one, though). The closest entry to those two would be Death Grips’ The Powers that B. I still have to order my thoughts, maybe make some position changes and expect for surprise drops, but I think it’s prettt much set in stone at this point.

  3. Rise of the Tomb Raider is amazing, but… MGSV: TPP is badass. Put over 50 hours into it and I’m still in the episode 22. Once I beat this game, I’m expecting to spend another dozens of hours to complete all the side quests and such.

On a side note, Fallout 4 is also an awesome game, and should be in any list of 2015 favorites.

    1. I was hugely disappointed with Fallout 4. A complete step back from New Vegas in terms of role-playing options and greyed narrarive. Bethesda learned nothing from Obsidian.

      1. New Vegas is one of the best narratives in the gaming history ever. I really like the idea of going for the stolen parcel, so on, so forth.

I played Fallout 4 for, hum, 5 or 6 hours so far. I feel compelled to go back to it every time I turn on my XBone. But since I’m so immersed in the MGSV history right now, Fallout 4 will be backlogged. But let’s see how things turn out.

        1. Even if the writing itself had taken the backseat this time, I wouldn’t be so bothered with the game if more builds were… well, viable.

I’ll probably come back to it when there’s enough mods to fix Bethesda’s mess. Again.
Glad I didn’t pay for it this time.

          1. Yeah, the PC version will get mods in the near future. Unless I’m wrong, the XBone version will get those as well.

There is a redemption code for Fallout 3 in the XBone version of Fallout 4. Although I never liked Fallout 3 (never cared to beat it), it’s a nice deal.

        2. Story wise MGSV is weakest in the series it doesn’t really explain much and kinda feels really not need. The gameplay is fun but it feels less MGS then anything i’ve played from all of them

          1. I see what you mean. But I’ll try to address your point in a simple, different manner: I actually feel that Kojima wanted to change the mechanics of the series starting at Ground Zeroes.

Now the players have much more freedom on how they complete the missions. The maps are now bigger and more complex. You can either stealth, or go loud. Your can either use a buddy, or go solo. Or, still, you choose to mix all of that and see what is the outcome during a mission.

Maybe those elements were more or less present in the past MGS games, but now they are quite evident. This may be the reason you feel that MGSV is not that much of a MGS game.

        1. They’re isometric RPGs, very awkward to control by modern standards. If you haven’t played any, know what you’re getting into beforehand. Other than that, they’re great games (especially Fallout 2)

    2. I played Fallout 4, and I became overly bored pretty quick. The whole game just feels kind of generic to me.

So it certainly isn’t a favorite of mine. Just saying this because you think it should be on any list of 2015 favorites. There are quite a lot of people who don’t like Fallout 4. It all comes down to opinion with lists like this.

      1. Right, I see. As I said above, I have only 5 or 6 hours put into Fallout 4. I’m still excited about it, but let’s see what happens when I play it thoroughly.

    3. Fuck… Now I’m swamped with games again. And I really need yo be training for a half marathon. x.x Ok, so, Rise of Tomb Raider, I’m planning on plsying that, and is Metal Gear V on both the twins?

I absolutely loved playing Metal Gear Solid on my NES. It was so fucking hard and just awesome.

      1. Man, I quit running by the beginning of this year due to personal reasons. I was going over my transition from 10 miles to the half marathon, which turned out to be pretty hard for me.

Now, almost a year later, I plumped up 20 pounds and I’m roughly able to run 5K… LOL!

Yes, Metal Gear is out for X360/One, PS3/4.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is currently exclusive for X360/One. It will eventually hit the Sony consoles sometime next year.

It is worth to say that, alongside Mario Maker, the two aforementioned games are my 3 personal 2015 GOTYs.

        1. It’s never too late to drop most if not all of those 20 lbs! I have a $400 elliptical I use half the time I’m gaming. ;D

Do it for you 10year in the future self!

And thanks, I will definitly check those games out! I’ve been wanting to play a modern Tomb Raider.

          1. Yeah, I need to get rid of these 20 pounds here…

Now I’m wondering if you’re able to do elliptical and play Wii Sports at the same time! LOL!

The 2013 Tomb Raider is another excellent game and is available for all platforms.

            1. Ok for real, the reason I use an ellyptical, is I walk OFF a treadmill whrn gaming. Your body naturally wants to walk where your character goes or car is driving. (such as in Mario Kart.

Ellyptical keeps your feet planted and your pride in tact since you’re not wiping out all the time. (almost lost a 3DS at the gym while on a treadmill. D; Lol. Ellyptical only while gaming, unless your balance and hand-eye-foot coordination us unnaturally advanced. XD

  4. I’ve played like 7 games on this list and I’m probably going to try Prune later this week. All in all, I agree that most of these are some of the best games of the year, albeit my own preference would be in a different order.

I’m surprised Fallout 4 isn’t on here though. It and MGSV and Witcher 3 are like the big three multiplatform GOTYs.

I personally also would’ve added Bloodborne (PS4) and Rocket League (PS4, Steam), though it wouldn’t be fair of me until I played all the games on this list…

  5. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

These top 10 lists from Time HAVE to be 100% based on sales!

      1. Goty that as well. Only problem I had with it was that it was more or less the exact same game as MHTri. It was kind of old, even in HD. But GOOD that Wii U actually got a MH-tittle at all!

  6. I’m gonna be honest, there wasn’t enough games in 2015 so far for me to make a top ten best games. Maybe Destiny’s taken king expansion if that counts? Fallout 4 wasn’t that special, Super mario maker was fun but not really a something I’d consider top 10, splatoon was amazing, um no to starwars battle front, and idk XD

  7. Undertale is getting so big that even Papyrus’s Internet popularity is coming true. Glad that I’m able to get me a Steam account since I’ve wanted to see how good the game really was in addition to dwelling into the world of PC gaming.

  8. GOTY lists should be made in the very beginning of the year after, imo. But, anyway, I looked up Prune in the Play Store. A total of 10,000 people have downloaded it, which is not a lot. The only thing I got out of the description of the game was that it has something to do with trees. No wonder I’ve never heard of it…

  9. I just downloaded Prune and Undertale. I have yet to start Undertale but Prune is… Interesting. The gameplay is fairly simple, you plant a seed, the tree grows, you trim (or prune) branches off, and guide the tree to a light source so it can bloom.

The tree can only grow so much so pruning is necessary if you want your tree to reach the light source and bloom.

It’s not a bad game, but I wouldn’t put it in this year’s top 10 (or even 50.) Odd choice really.

      1. No problem. The game was $4 so I didn’t take a big hit, its a good game and I’ll probably play a bit more of it. Haha, not a great game but its a bit addictive.

  10. HollowGrapeJ (A.K.A. Shampoo- Destroyer Of Girl Type Ranma & Akane Tendo And Soon To Be Married Wife Of Boy Type Ranma Saotome Of The Anything Goes Martial Arts School)

    My thoughts:
Heard good things about Undertale, haven’t played it though. Haven’t beaten Batman AK but it’s ok. Can’t really say anything about Splatoon as I haven’t played that. I agree with Witcher 3 and MGSV was pretty good. No Shadow of Mordor? Haven’t played that either but it’s got really good reviews. No clue what Prune is. I love Tomb Raider but don’t know about it being #2. Lol Super Mario Maker. Personally, I like most of these games but some of em aren’t my cup of tea. Heh.
