Target Says Wii U Was One Of The Top Sellers On Thanksgiving

US retailer Target has announced that it broke its online sales record on Thanksgiving. The company says this year’s sale has easily outpaced last year’s performance. The three top-selling products this year were the iPad, the Apple Watch and finally the Wii U. Let’s hope this trend continues for other retailers.

The record-breaking sales online were driven by three items: the Apple iPad, the Apple Watch, and the Wii U gaming console, the company said.

    1. Nintendo could’ve won the NPD of November last year had they made a Mario Kart 8/Super Smash Bros bundle for last year’s Black Friday at a discounted price. Nonetheless great job Nintendo. I really hope this is sign of things to come for the most important month of the year for business corporations which is of course December

Not spinning but logical thinking. Any person thinking logically knows that percentages don’t mean anything without real numbers to back it up. For all we know, this 400% increase is just an increase of 2 sales to 8 sales. For an online website where billions of people have access to it, 8 sales from 2 sales of last year is a laughing stock. Is that the number of consoles sold? No clue because Amazon & Nintendo didn’t give us real numbers or actual data to back it up, so why get excited over a measly little percentage?

Too much logic in one post! You will be accused of spinning now!

  2. Considering it was up there with the likes of the most popular Apple products means that Nintendo must have finally found the perfect price and bundle to sell the Wii U with, during the holidays at least. I obviously hope that the Wii U continues to thrive during the holidays and onward.

    1. Well according to target, they sold an iPad every second during Thanksgiving, so that alone shows you how much the Wii U could’ve potentially sold. Also, Wii U was the most sold item online, so there’s that.

True but real numbers, even an estimate, would have been nice.

Yeah… if the idiots at NoA even give XCX a huge marketing campaign. From the looks of Latin America’s marketing campaign, or lack there of, my expectations are incredibly low.

I want to say let’s hope it continues this trend… But like every other bump in sales, it’ll probably be short lived & only add around one million more Wii U consoles. :/ Yay! We’ll be one step closer to 13-15 million consoles sold! *sarcasm*

Excuse me for wanting my favorite company to do better than what it is doing & sell over 25 million consoles, not a measly 13-15 million.

    ||You think Nintendo is your ally? Nintendo can only spread suffering……

    || They are the enemy of all gaming……

You’re both wrong. Nintendo & Sony aren’t the enemy of all gaming: EA is.

  6. Apparently that bundle is selling out in stores as well as online. I’ve seen multiple people say that it’s sold out at there store. Including OBE1 how could I not give him a shoutout!

  8. See Nintendo, if you put together great Bundles with 2 great games, you will see sales come in. If I’m not mistaken, there was no Smash Bros Wii U Bundle for it’s launch in North America, right?

  9. Yeah I hard the news! This is great for Nintendo and hopefully this will last for the rest of the season! Still don’t get why they didn’t do this last year especially with Smash 4 launching around this time of the year last year.

  10. I was fooled last year. I bought into the hype that the Wii U was selling like hot cakes and sold nearly 1 million units in two weeks. I’m not gonna be fooled again. With the NX on the horizon, I seriously doubt the Wii U sales will be much better than last years. Maybe a slight increase….

      1. It’s not my loss, I have a Wii U. Bought it on day one. I hope the Wii U succeeds, just not gonna hold my breath. The Wii U will be lucky,……. LUCKY to reach 15 million lifetime sales.

        1. Yep. Day one buyer here also. I think Day One buyers are the most realistic. We saw how things really went down.

          1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

Yep. We were around when Nintendo let the console sink it’s first year when they could have done something to keep 3rd parties from ditching the Wii U since they have so much money in the bank that they could have afforded to pay some 3rd parties to make some exclusive Wii U titles. It sucks you have to pay to get support but least you’d be providing your customer base something to look forward to besides droughts.

  11. When I was out Black Friday shopping I saw plenty of Ps4 bundles left, but no Wii U or Xbox bundles, so sounds about right. There wasn’t even much of a crowd this year. I suppose it was because you could get the same things online.

    1. I find it funny that Black Friday isn’t freaking World War Z this year. Every time a friend goes shopping, I hear it was pretty calm. Maybe they finally sent the Black Friday shoppers to the sun? 0_o

      1. No, most of the larger retailers put all their Black Friday deals online, so most people just shopped online. IMO the sales weren’t even that good this year.

That & I’m sure the Paris attack & the threats from ISIS have some people too scared to leave their homes. :/

          1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Oops. My bad. I meant ISIL.

              1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

It’s an alternate name but seems to be the most widely used name. It stands for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. It should be IFAIL, the Islamic Failing Assholes of Iraq & the Levant, though.

  12. At this point, Nintendo is practically giving the system away, but hey, if it can grow the install base, then…

So, we’ll wait for some hard numbers, but the WiiU really needs a shot in the arm. Can’t wait to see some actual data!

    1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Meanwhile, get hyped with articles of percentages & top sellers with no real numbers or actual data! Be proud, ecstatic, & happy that the Wii U is such a huge success with around 12 million consoles sold worldwide when it should be a hell of a lot better! But hey. I’m just spinning shit and whining. It’s not like I actually care about Wii U & want Nintendo to do better!

      1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Damn. Forgot the sarcasm tag. Oh well. You know me well enough to know that’s sarcasm, anyway. >.<

      1. Even if Nintendo weren’t making a profit, they would still go ahead with their plans, since they have over $10 billion cash in reserves. Yeah, it helps that they sell more Wii U consoles, but in not selling Wii U consoles by means would lead to them going out of business, or have a hugely detrimental effect. Now, if for whatever reason the 3DS stopped selling, and if for some even more incredulous reason people stopped buying Amiibo….THEN they’d have an issue. But even then, they’d still fall back on their cash reserves to do something else to get back into a more stable space.
