Serebii has added an update to the information released earlier today about Pokkén Tournament. In addition to the details about the Ferrum League and new sets of supporting Pokémon, there has also been information added about the lack of DLC plans in the works.
The site has advised that there are currently no plans to add additional Pokémon or stages through downloadable content. Hopefully this will change at some point in the future.
Pokkén Tournament is due for release on March 18th.
There might not be plans for DLC, but I can bet my bottom dollar that there’ll be a fat wad of content locked behind amiibo in the future in the exact same way.
That seems like a good way to be able to say ‘it’s not DLC’ while it is kinda DLC. That said, so long as it’s worth the price I wouldn’t mind. I only have one Amiibo and haven’t had much use for her (Peach), and it would be nice to have some Pokemon ones and a real reason to own them.

It will be compatible with ALL amiibo and will just unlock in game items, probably similar to the Hyrule Warriors amiibo functionality

I would think that would be a major loss of possible money flow, more so considering Nintendo isn’t completely up to date with the whole DLC era. Not that I care really, just seems like a mistake to NOT plan in advantage for something like this…
I’m guessing they won’t be focusing on dlc because the wii u is near it’s end, but if pokken is successful they’ll probably just focus on making a sequel with twice as many characters for the NX, just my speculation anyways
Its a good one. I didn’t think about that the Wii U’s life cycle may be coming to an end sooner than Nintendo wanted.
Is there some sort of story mode? Fighting games always get old for me really fast because there isn’t alot to do, esp with noone to play with. Smash isn’t nearly as good if you don’t have someone to play with. Smash has alot of modes but i don’t really feel that motivated to play them.
I’m sure that there will be if the game is successful, which it likely will be. There wasn’t any planned for Smash (supposedly) and then we got a bunch. I don’t buy their “we’re not planning it” line anymore, it’s probably already being talked about.

They said the same thing about Smash Bros, and look what happened. We got a few DLC characters for it anyway. I can see Nintendo making some more playable Pokemon for Pokken after its Wii U release.
Before i sold i brought Smash Bros for the Wii U cause i love the series. But after a few months i got bored of it, something was missing to keep me playing it. DLC Was missing on Smash Bros. For Wii U. then i brought the game again when the DLC was first anounced.

It’s a shame I hate pokemon and therefore not interested in that game. It seems I am the only one relief and happy about the new. I am fed up about hearing plan for dlc,when I buy a game I want the full experience. Not 1/2 game and the rest later.
