“Well, because, I’m going to be up on stage presenting, something that your fans ought to love, but I’m not gonna snowboard, I’m not gonna show my mother’s day card. I’m just going to talk about the games.” And smile! A LOT.

Nintendo DSi: Nintendo Reveals Huge Marketing Plan For Nintendo DSi

dsi

With the evolutionary Nintendo DSi soon within our grasps, Nintendo shares its plan on one of its biggest marketing campaigns to date.

DSi will be our biggest handheld hardware launch to date and will easily be our biggest campaign this year. We have already planned out activity throughout the whole year as we plan to drive awareness and communication right through to Christmas.

During the initial launch phase we will be mainly focused on TV aimed at a mass market audience, but we will support this with a large online campaign designed to drive pre-order and awareness in the gaming community. On top of all this activity we will be offering extensive in-store promotion and also running national experiential events to ensure that consumers can get their hands on the hardware before they buy.

Nintendo DS: Nintendo DSi Breaking Backwards Compatibility?

bluedsi21

With the imminent release of the Nintendo DSi many gamers assumed that the vast majority of new games would work on both the DSi and the DS, well this might not be the case.

Developers have been informed that they can produce games on the DSi cards – which as the name suggests only works with the Nintendo DSi, or alternatively, they can produce games on DSi Enhanced cards which will work perfectly fine on both machines. Hopefully the majority of game developers will choose to work on the latter allowing everyone access to the forthcoming top tier titles available on the hand-held.

Nintendo DS: Zelda: Spirit Tracks Announced For Nintendo DS At GDC 09

zelda_spirittracks

Whilst many presumed a new Zelda title would be flaunted at GDC ’09 not many expected it for the Nintendo DS.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks which was announced by Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata, initially appears very similar to the critically acclaimed Phantom Hourglass.

Although a short video presentation was shown at the event, details regarding the game appear rather scarce. The trailer presentation shows series protagonist Link riding a Western style rail road train equipped with a cannon, whilst the footage switches to the mandatory dungeon esquire adventuring we’re all used to.

The game is presented in a cell shaded graphical effect mirroring Links previous DS adventure, The Phantom Hourglass. As with the aforementioned title the game will utilize both the bottom and top screen for gameplay and dungeon maps respectively. The game is officially due for release sometime later this year and looks set to be another integral adventure story for the Nintendo DS/DSi.

Nintendo DSi: Japan Getting Three New Nintendo DSi Coloursi

dsicolours

Nintendo are set to unleash a plethora of vibrant colours to its DSi range in Japan.

Bright Pink, Lime Green and Metallic Blue are the bright new colour schemes unveiled by Nintendo to coexist alongside the traditional white and black units.  Unfortunately there’s been no mentioned on behalf of Nintendo as to whether we will see these additional colour schemes added here in the West, but given Nintendo’s past track record it’s probably a dead cert.

Nintendo DSi: People Curious As To What The ‘i’ Stands for In DSi

dsicamerasgraphic1

It appears the majority of consumers are baffled as to what the ‘i’ actually represents when referring to the forthcoming DSi.

According to representatives at Nintendo the ‘i’ in DSi actually refers to the fact that the new iteration of the DS contains a camera, essentially turning the i’ into a ‘eye’. Additionally, the ‘i’ is symbolic of the subject ‘I’ and the personal aspect attributed to that.
