Game’s marketing director Anna Macario has recently lavished praise upon Sony’s PlayStation 3 launch citing that the retail chain expects Sony will succeed where Microsoft and Nintendo failed, primarily due to its inordinately high stock levels for launch.
Working from the front-line at the midnight launch of the aforementioned console I can truly state that this isn’t the case. With a mere thirty consumers purchasing the £425 console between the two hour shift, demand for the console it seemed was at a unprecedented low. No matter how many consoles Sony threw at us, consumers simply weren’t interested.
hey sickr, its called advertising to upsale. they r not selling much and they want the consumer to think it is so they can buy it too. here in aus was worse, with the main launch store having merely 50 ppl and they only started queing at 11.45 everywhere else was like 10 ppl average. Sony is only going to get worser industry press on it. sucks for them
Wii360!!!!!!!!!!! FTW! =-)
PS3 sucks. I can’t believe 165,000 people bought that overpriced piece of tat. They overcharge, launch in the UK late and consumers reward them. The Sony brand is a powerful one.
PS3 is not worth £450. If Sony could afford to give away over 150 HDTV’s, they could’ve dropped the retail price for Europe. Sony don’t deserve any kind of initial success with their console. They done too much wrong.
I think that statementmis rubbish because on the launch date of the ps3 i was on work experience and at 8 AM i went into game to buy pokemon colleseum and there was only 3 people inside the shop. It is April now and ps3’s are still heavily iiside shops but i still don’t have a wii because they are sold out after 5 months.
