The legendary Shigeru Miyamoto has hinted that gamers might be introduced to a brand new Nintendo franchise next year complete with a fresh cast of characters.
Speaking with the Mercury News Mr Miyamoto claimed that Nintendo are looking to introduce some new characters next year “in the same way [Nintendo] came up with Pikmin when [they] introduced the GameCube.”
While I applaud Miyamoto and Nintendo for creating original franchises for their own consoles, I have to wonder how hard it really is to create an IP franchise like pikmin.
Isnt that really just a character design thing separate from any gaming interests?
It has to be both universally accepted and appealing which is something that I’d imagine would involve a hell of a lot of planning.
