Nintendo has issued a take down notice to the producers behind the Legend of Zelda: Hero of Time fan movie. The film, which was generally given mixed reviews by fans, is still currently available to watch online.
We came to an agreement with Nintendo earlier this month to stop distributing the film. In the spirit of the holiday season they were good enough to let us keep the movie up for you to watch and enjoy through the end of 2009, but not past 2009. We understand Nintendo’s right to protect its characters and trademarks and understand how in order to keep their property unspoiled by fan’s interpretation of the franchise, Nintendo needs to protect itself — even from fan-works with good intentions.

Aww too bad…
Btw, why do you always say ‘Nintendo HAVE’ and not ‘Nintendo HAS’? No offence, but Nintendo is one company, right?
My mistake, now rectified : )
Nintendo are a “they”. Every company is a body of people, so it make it a “they.”
Sounds like Nintendo’s on quite the defensive tip nowadays. I blame the CD-i Zelda games for that.
Oh, they were truly legendary ; )
Good thing the movie is on my iPod :D
But it was a good movie in SOME ways, it’s good hollywood didn’t touched it.
What!? When did this come from. Is this the trailer IGN made? wtf im so confused :( im on my phone so i cant do much.
No it’s a completely independent film and it was released late last year. You can view the movie when your home via the link provided : )
Sounds like the HOT producers were trying to give a little bit of bite to their little quote there. I understand that Nintendo has the RIGHT to defend their intellectual property – I’m all for that. But to take down some unofficial, fan-made material that’s not even gaining a profit despite the massive amount of work that was taken to create it? That’s just ridiculous.
amen to that
why man nintendo is makein me mad they stoped project wiki and nao this
I find it interesting that the rules of parody have not been brought up.
