  1. Why are my gaming tastes always so much more in-tune with what Japanese gamers want, rather than European or Americans?

    … Oh yeah, ’cause Japan is awesome, that’s why.

      1. About being in tune with Japan I mean. I want Mario Kart 7, Mario 3D Land, and Skyward sword. All pre-ordered! (No particular order)

              1. Hey, have you guys noticed that in the trailer for Super Mario 3D Land, Bowser had a Tanooki tail? I find that really strange… Maybe they are getting really obsessed over the whole: ”Tanooki Mario is back!” thing… Just guessing…

    1. It’s because unlike here they don’t jusge JRPGs too harshly JRPGs to them is like first person shooters to a majority of Xbox owners: almost perfect to them

    1. NO, I am not interested in modern war type of game but I don’t like JRPG either.
      If all the games only limited to modern war shooting & JRPG, I don’t think I will be a player anymore.
      Is better with lots of genre can be selected by different gamer(s).

      1. They do sell the 360 and every shop that sells games has about 1 book case or whatever worth of space for its games (making up about 10% of the shop maybe, probably less) and there are some people in Japan that enjoy western FPS’s etc which are the ones who have a 360, but they are a huge minority.

  2. I played a demo of FF XIII-2. i honestly couldn’t tell you what happened, I think I fell asleep halfway through. Crikey that game was boring.

  3. ha, wow the japanese really do hate xbox. its all nintendo and sony back there. an american list would be halo, batman, cod, battlefield, zelda, mario, uncharted, skyrim, mass effect, japan has a lot more,original titles. im sick of all these fps games, unless they have a unique quality to them (or if theyre resistance)

    1. Hate’s such a strong word.
      It’s not like they have some hatred for the xbox and therefore don’t buy it out of spite or anything, it’s just that it doesn’t appeal to them to buy over/alongside a PS3 or wii.
      Plus, all those games you said, apart from halo are on the PS3 as far as I know.

  4. Vita= 1 (4%)
    Wii= 2 (8%)
    PSP= 4 (16%)
    3DS= 7 (28%)
    PS3 = 11 (44%)

    Xbox= 0 (0%)
    Nintendo= 9 (36%)
    Playstation= 16 (64%)

    Interesting…..

  5. Glad to see Mario Kart, Mario 3D Land and Skyward Sword ranking up there. Surprised too, considering how Zelda was always more popular in the West than Japan.

    I have a feeling this upcoming Christmas could be a good one for the 3DS.

      1. Actually, it’s because it’s not selling over there. The 360 just barely broke the 1.5 million units sold in Japan not long ago for life time sales. Around the same time, the 3DS had hit the 1.5 million mark and I think it’s sold 2 million now in Japan. Retailers are removing the 360 from shelves and will place them on their online portions to make more room. Look it up on google and you will find articles that say that Japanese retailers have given up on the 360.

      2. The Xbox has no exclusive software that’s appealing to Japanese game tastes. Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon…and that’s about it. You need more than that to sell a console.

    1. hahaha except for maybe those simulation dating games on there, I like all the games on this list, the most wanted game here in the states is CoDMW3….I’m sure it will be great, but it’s not on my top 10 most anticipated

      1. JRPG & SIM Dating are their favorite..
        But Nintendo don’t make JRPG much.. And totally nothing with SIM Dating.
        RPG not my type, especially with the J in front make me go away.

        1. Dating simulation games are far from their favourites. If they were, the list would be FULL of them. There are tons and tons released on the PC all the time, but it’s just the small niche that picks them up, probably about 5% of anyone that plays games. (And actually a lot of those games can have AMAZING stories, which is generally why they’re played, over having a “simulation for dating”. Anyone that’s into anime may know that many of the most emotional stories are originally from such games.)

  6. I’m surprised Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter aren’t the top 3 though I must admit, this list is pretty solid. I’d switch out a few games with others and throw in a few western games but I like this list.

  8. Maybe handheld gaming is more popular than home console now.. Just like iPhone.
    For a working person, is easier to play with handheld than sit in front of TV, that’s what I heard from one of my friend.

  9. A lot of those games are things I want, including Ff XIII-2, I think the japanese are more excited for that game than Versus XIII because that much of the game has been revealed yet, especially since the last reveal trailer was in January this year (which was also the first true reveal.) I feel I am much more into Japanese games, but I would also put some other Western games in there too. I am also glad Uncharted 3 is in that list because that game is gonna be awesome (loved Naught Dog since they made my first console game I played, Jak and Daxter)

  10. I would also add that I have heard the Japanese tend to get motion sickness from FPS more so than people is western countries which is one factor on why the games do not sell that well in Japan.
