Nintendo Of America President Says Facebook Games Are Repetitive, And There’s No Chance Of Mario On Facebook

In a recent interview with All Things Digitial Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has criticised Facebook games stating that social gaming platforms like Zynga continue to deliver the same experience all the time and that doing the same thing over and over again is basically no longer fine. He also mentioned that there’s absolutely no chance that we will be seeing key Nintendo franchises pop up on the social network.

“The companies that will win in the social gaming space need to show an ability to provide the new and different experiences, and a way to monetize it. In the end, these are businesses that need to make money … We make games for Nintendo devices, and that is a competitive advantage for us. You can only play Mario on a Nintendo device, so from that standpoint, I wouldn’t expect to see our franchises on other platforms, and I would argue Facebook is a platform”

  1. I agree. FarmVille and CityVille are basically the same thing. I do believe that OMGPOP is the best social gaming experience around, though.

  2. I would love to agree on this, but I don’t feel it’s right for Nintendo to fall to the same level as other people to criticize others like that. Live examples of this are Rovio and that Jack Tretton clown.

Come back to us, Reggie. Don’t get pulled over to the dark side!

  3. The only enjoyable game on Facebook in my opinion is bejeweled blitz. Every over game is the same exact thing. Great words from Nintendo here.

      1. I thought the point of facebook and most social networks was for social outcast to find friends, or get laid, of course they sell it as “to keep in touch with friends and family”

      2. Apparently studies said Students at schools who use facebook have lower grades.

And also Facebook has so much scam

Also most people who use facebook dont have a life

      1. I think he means that Nintendo games shouldn’t appear on iOS and Android either. I don’t think anyone would have a problem with mibile games appearing in the E-shop.

  4. I dont even know that many ppl who still like facebook, let alone fb games. I mean they are all exactly the same game with different titles. Ppl need to get over the idea of wanting nintendo on anything other than a nintendo device. Thats what I call gamer blastfomy. Or however you spell it.

  5. I’m being very critical, People will still play them regardless of what reggie thinks.. and Mario is the same deal over and over :P for the past 25 years…

    1. You’re right IF you’re talking about 1/8 of the storyline in the games which is Mario saves peach beats baddies and defeats bowser. Other than that you’re wrong

  7. This is certainly why I don’t play them on Facebook. Might have them on my iPhone for a fleeting moment, but not Facebook.

I’m not looking forward to seeing how trolls will twist the “Facebook games are repetetive” headline into nonsense like “every Nintendo game is the same” that they keep trying to perpetuate. Hopefully we won’t get a lot of trolls from the PS Vita blog here.

    1. Nintendo SUCKS DICK! Sony is KING! PSVita is a masterpiece of true gaming!!

      Start accounting.

Joke!! xD PS Vita? WTF! That name…
