The pixels do show, but you get used to it. It bothered me at first but only because I have an iPhone and am used to the retina display on it. But trust me, I’d rather play Nintendo games on a somewhat pixelated 3DS XL than crappy app games on ANY smartphone.

Yea, it is definitely better on the eyes. My girl kept the old 3DS when I got the XL and when I look at her screen, I definitely am much happier that I bought the XL. The 3D looks better too. Colours works GREAT with the bigger touch screen, more room for drawing. In this case, bigger is better.
