Ghost Recon Online Is Now On Hold For Wii U

Ghost Recon Online’s producer Theo Sanders has confirmed that Ghost Recon Online for Wii U is currently on hold as the development team focus their attention on the PC version of the game. Sanders made it clear that their priority is the PC version, and once that’s complete, then they may focus on the Wii U version.

“As of right now, the entire Ghost Recon team is focused on the PC version only. The Wii U version is on hold.”

“If in the future we have an opportunity to address it again, we’ll make future announcements. But as of right now we’re focused completely on the PC version.”

“It’s not a reaction to anything specific happening to Wii U. It was a really fun, cool platform to develop for. But you realise once you launch an online service that it’s an all-consuming effort, so we really wanted to have all hands on deck. It was the same dev team working on both SKUs, and [we] really wanted to focus on doing the PC version right.

“I’m not really in a position to talk about the Wii U, but our particular choice for Ghost Recon Online was purely based on the fact that we had one dev team working on both SKUs and it was an all-consuming effort with the PC launch. It’s tough launching an online game.”

      1. Hardly matters if it still sells a billion copies. I’m pretty sure MW3 sales fell slightly, but BO2 will likely beat BO

  1. I knew this was going to happen to a few games. No big deal though. They should take their time and get it right instead of rushing it and releasing a half finished or crappy port. Leave luck to heaven.

  2. I guess I’m fine with this. Rather than stretch their resources thin and put out a lesser product, they’ll focus on the best free PC game they can make and then bring that to Wii U. Too, Ubisoft is already bringing some fun-looking exclusives.
