    1. I do see it as a casual gaming platform. Smartphones have a much larger install base than handhelds and consoles. Heck, I even play a few games on my Android to pass the time in the doctor’s office or something. But I don’t see a core gaming ecosystem being supported on mobile platforms anytime soon.

      1. Exactly. I play games on my Droid phone, Zune HD, and iPod touch from time to time. They do have the largest install base and apps and games, especially on the Apple app store can sell millions. Just look at Angry Birds. That blew up. Still, it’s not appealing to that of the core/hardcore gaming demographic.

For example, I just did a list of some of the must have games for the rest of the year: http://gamerxchange.net/2012/09/22/must-have-games-fall-2012/

There are Wii U, DS, PS3, Xbox 360, PS Vita, 3DS, and PC games on there. No mobile games. That’s for a reason: The core gaming community doesn’t care about them over the high quality games they get on consoles and other dedicated gaming systems.

      1. I’d say that there is both a great amount of shovelware and quality titles in mobile shops. Some great racing titles. Plenty of RPGSs. And a few DS ports (The World Ends With Your, Final Fantasy 3, Shantae, all in your iOS store today)

    2. “Sales does not equal quality,” they said.

You’re a sad, sad man. I can only imagine how miserable your existence would be without Nintendo to Bitch at.

      And thanks for supporting Nintendo.

            1. You don’t even know who he is.So how do you know that he hasn’t been laid?We know you so it is safe to conclude that you haven’t.

    1. Nintendo doesn’t do TGS , there is no Nintendo stands at TGS , just a couple of third party booth’s .

I don’t know the reasoning behind this , but they don’t do it anymore .

        1. They do their own events all across Japan . Dont think they like mixing with other crowds too much .
The pokemon centres in kyoto and tokyo will go fuking beserc soon full to the brim with wiiu demo boothes day after day . And they have like a tour demo all over Japan , obviously showcasing DS/Wii 3ds / Wiiu .

Nintendo don’t do gamescom in Germany either .

              1. Wrong, once again. Gamescom is bigger than E3. In fact, it’s the world’s largest video game-based convention. It has broken records year after year when it came to the number of visitors. And it has the biggest exhibition area also, as well as the biggest number of journalists and exhibitors, if I’m not mistaken.
Again, I ask you to get your facts right.

                1. E3 has more global significance than any other gaming expo . It’s about how many people watch it around the world . Not how many germans and sony fanboys you can cram into an expo .

E3 is the pinnacle of game expo’s . Not gamescom . That’s why Nintendo has 0 interest in gamescom anymore .

                  1. Wow… I was expecting your answer to be moronic… But I think nobody could have ever been able to think of the possibility of it being moronic to THAT extend… Seriously.
                    Just because Nintendo doesn’t attend it it means it’s a Sony-fest ? Really ?
And uh, just because it’s in Germany it doesn’t mean only Germans attend it… It’s like saying only Americans attend E3 because it’s in the USA… Right, no sense at all.
And you were the one who said E3 is “10 times bigger” than other expos. So don’t try to make it look like you didn’t talk complete bs when people try to correct you. Because you did talk complete bs indeed.

                    1. ’10 times bigger’ was sarcasm , ‘Germans and sony fanboy’s ‘ was also sarcasm . Sorry you cannot differentiate humerous giberish from fact’s .

Nintendo the current world leader in Video game Entertainment , stated themselves they have no reason to do other expo’s . E3 is the most important with the most coverage and hype . And yeh gamescom had lots of third party wiiu booths there . just no Nintendo ones .

Gamescom today is a sony sauusage fest .

                    2. Of course, everything turns into “jokes” and “sarcasm” when noticing how ridiculous you sounded before… Don’t try to trick yourself, yes ? (: And when you call that sarcasm, you obviously do know what sarcasm even is.
Then, after saying “Germans and Sony fanboys” was sarcasm, 4 lines later you call Gamescom a Sony sausage fest… What ?
You are such a fucking hypocrite, it’s hardly possible to believe. And the extend of your ridiculous fanboyism can’t be even put in words, so I won’t even try to.

                    3. “’10 times bigger’ was sarcasm , ‘Germans and sony fanboy’s ‘ was also sarcasm . Sorry you cannot differentiate humerous giberish from fact’s . ”

or maybe you should learn how to correctly use sarcasm

                2. Gamescom is NOTHING compared to E3 now neither is TGS . NOTHING !!!!

because Nintendo has ditched them , whuch means the only expo where all three companies are going hammer and tongues in E3 .
E3 if not in the past , is now by far the most important gaming expo . Oh and it was in the past aswell .

                  E

                  1. Well, it obviously is something compared to E3. Well, in fact, it’s even more.
And you know, Nintendo isn’t the whole gaming industry. Just because Nintendo made the not-so-smart decision to not attend Gamescom this year, when they had the very perfect chance to introduce the WiiU to Europe, doesn’t mean the Gamescom is dead. Because it is not, not at all. The company Nintendo is the only one having disadvantages for not attending Gamescom.

                    1. I can’t remember asking how much Nintendo’s products make up the gaming industry. Another pointless comment of yours.
And even if I did, it would do nothing but simply support my comment. Why ? Because it’s not 100%, therefore Nintendo is NOT the whole gaming industry.

                    2. he’s a special case
he’s actually both a nintendo fanboy AND a USA fanboy on top of that
with the former i might be able to get along but not with the latter…

              2. gamescom a shitty show? Oo
it may not attract as much press as the e3 (e3 does still have a lot of glamour) but it certainly is the biggest games expo in existence both in regards of number of visitors/exhibitors and showroom size and would have enabled nintendo to do exactly what they wanted.. get people in contact with the wii-u so they can try it for themselves.. luckily their 3rd party partners jumped in and saved the day for them.. no wii-u at gamescom would have been quite a blow

i’m certain nintendo of japan will have enough own events to cover up for not being at TGS but there will be nothing of the sort in europe

          1. Wrong. You can’t say Nintendo “doesn’t do” Gamescom. If you say that, that would mean they fundamentally don’t do it. But they did attend Gamescom in 2010. And 2011. Just because they didn’t attend it this year it doesn’t mean they don’t attend it at all. Get your facts right, please.

            1. If Nintendo didn’t attend, the fact there was little to no representation makes sense.

That’s what he’s trying to say here.

            2. They don’t attend gamescom any more . now please fuck you and stop telling me to get my fact’s right .

E3 is the most important expo for gaming , Nintendo have stated this as the reason why they maintain there huge presence there .

They don’t care about the other shitty expo’s .

              1. You can not even imagine how much I laughed at this comment. You really can not.
                Someone’s getting a little angry, huh ? (:
It’s just unbelievably funny how you can’t face facts.

                1. You must be speaking to your self there bro .
Because everything I said was true . I have an interview from Satoru shibata NOE president in UK ONM saying what I said .

basically what he says is . Nintendo feels e3 is the only expo worth their time . everything else is a waste of time and resources .
Nintendo direct has replaced their previous expo attendance . now shut up .

                  1. I don’t know why, but I highly doubt that Satoru Shibata would make statements as senseless as the ones you did make. In fact, I doubt that anyone would do that.
And I don’t see how I could be talking about myself ? You are the one who isn’t able to face facts. And when I’m talking about “you”, I can hardly mean myself. Because if I would, I would be saying “me” or “I”. But since I did not, there is no possibility of me talking about myself. I’m not a fan of talking in third person of oneself, you know ?
And if Satoru Shibata really did say that every other expo besides E3 is just a waste of time, he doesn’t seem to care much about many, many fans of Nintendo, which live in Europe. And that as the president of Nintendo of Europe… So much for “caring about fans”, huh ?

                    1. It was satoru shibata’s and Iwata’s decision to pull the plug on gamescom . Seriously I am not gunna start typeing out quotes here dude .

but He quite clearly states this – Nintendo Direct has replaced everything but E3 . E3 is very very important . This is why Nintendo power is stopping . Its not because Nintendo cannot afford it , lol . Its be its because of the internet .

                    2. I didn’t even ask you for quotes… And I’m not a dude.
And I never said Nintendo can not afford it to go to Gamescom. Nor did I say that E3 is not important. I merely said that E3 is not the biggest gaming convention because you said otherwise, so I do not know where you’re pulling all that stuff out from.

                    3. E3 is the biggest gaming convention in terms of global viewing , exposure , marketing , what ever you want to call it .

Sorry for calling you dude if you are a girl , but stop replying to me in such a smarmy assed way when you think everything you say is somehow right and that my comments are somehow funny even though mine ares the ones which are correct . lol .

      1. Yup, agree, I’m actually surprise that Nintendo is even attending TGS.

Wait, are they attending? Or are wiiU games only showing up?

  1. Well, considering that Nintendo didn’t even bother showing up to TGS.

But if you look over at E3, you see a completely different environment.

This is really more an indication of TGS becoming less important than it is the dominance of mobile.

    1. No , for the millionth time . NINTENDO HAS NO INTEREST IN TGS !!!!! they do Nintendo direct and all that stuff and their own tours . they alone probably attract more interest the whole of TGS in Japan .

  2. 57 for PS3?! Damn! 24 for Vita? I feel like they’re finally getting with it. Shame to see Nintendo didn’t show much though. But 507 smartphone/tablet games…. That’s not impressive at all. Most of these games are full of ads, contain little gameplay, and are mostly shovelware. If they had the quality of a PS3 title, full HD graphics with a long campaign, then I may consider them to truly be worthy of being called games instead of just… time killers.

    1. yup, Sony is really trying to get back up, I’m glad, I’m bussy at the moment with the atelier series but I’m still glad

Nintendo doesn’t really have a presence at TGS, they’ve mostly always have their own show before or after TGS so iys not a big surprise.

  3. Nintendo doesnt do TGS which means they have no booth or promotion there what so ever . They do other things in Japan . And All those shovel ware crap smart phone games still won’t be able to slow down the 3ds in Japan which is selling aswell as any handheld has ever done before …..

  4. It must be sad that out of 715 games most people (not everyone) just cares for Monster Hunter 4, Metal Gear Rising, Remember Me and Soul Sacrifice.

    1. I dont know. i was waiting these few days to see if they (Monolith Soft) would announced something, but i guess not. Maybe they will announce it in a Nintendo Direct?

  5. The bulk of those mobile games will be drivel of the Japanese kind. While the bulk of avid gamers know the quality is to be found on consoles, with conventional controls available. Even add-on devices for phone or tabs don’t wash at the large scale either.

  6. Frankly,I don’t care if it is ported from wii u,Nintendo can you make a couple more games for 3ds?I know there are many other games coming out for it,but I want to see Resident Evil:downfall/Resident evil:revelations 2,Assasin’s creed, conduit, metroid, pikmin,or a quality racing game (not the ridge racer port or ashplalt 3d).Maybe two of those.I’m not complaining (technically I am but still)but can you try that

  7. The fact is, everyone has a cell phone. Most have a smart phone. A lot of people have a table running iOS or Android.

It would be best for us to not get cocky and accept that te Mobile market CAN and WILL impact developers budgets and abilities to code for consoles. (Full or handheld.)

Movile gaming is a real threat. Nintendo is the only company who I feel has the heart to combat the massive competition, but even if all third-party support dries up, and all you can play on a Nintendo system are 1st party games, Nintendo will survive, as long as we keep supporting them with our purchasing power.

  8. mobile “gaming” imo is not a form of gaming. it is a form of entertainment. You cannot experience a game on a phone like you can on a tv.

  9. Of course it has a low percent. It’s not even a day old! Plus the Wii U is brand new system like no other. It’s not out long enough for tons of games. Besides No one owns it!

  10. I would not consider a tablet or phone something that has a true ‘video game’. Diversions, yes. Games, no. They’re cheap time killers. Quality over quantity, please.

  11. I dont see the point. The reason for 70% of games at the show on handhelds is because it is SOOO much cheaper to create a game on a handheld… anyone can do it! Handhelds wont take over consoles any time soon.

  14. the smart phone games just don’t interest me for long period and not bought one in a while, a waist of money when you can get an equivalent game free on the same store. tablet gaming will die down when a new trinket comes out, tablets are new and like most new things most people buy them on impulse.
the difference with console/pc gaming and tablet gaming is quality, tablet games remind me of the home bru games of the 80s and early 90s fun for a short time. out of that 507 shown i bet only 6 or 7 have any reply ability and most are just tedious games which are over in 10 minuets.
