Wii U Launching With More Than 23 Games

Nintendo announced last week that there will be 23 physical Wii U games available for purchase on the new console’s launch day. However, Nintendo hasn’t confirmed which digital games will be available for download from the Nintendo eShop on Wii U’s debut.

Tomorrow Corporation, the developer of fantastic WiiWare title World of Goo, confirmed its first Nintendo eShop title, Little Inferno, is a Wii U launch title. Unlike World of Goo, which was given an E rating by ESRB, Little Inferno is rated T for Teen.

    1. On wiiu ?? Its coming to PC , PS vita and android (*sigh android*).

It’s expected for about march 2013 on those platforms . Its going to get overshadowed by Monster Hunter 4 and Ultimate . But I will still buy it :) . I have put well over a thousand hours into PSO on dreamcast and PSO epsiode 1 and 2 on gamecube and PSO Blue burst on PC .

      1. Yeah, I’d want it on the Wii U. I think the GamePad would be perfect for the form of gameplay that PSO2 has. I have an iMac now, so PC is out of the question for me, and I despise both the PS Vita and Android (have an iPhone, Android sucks monkey butt). For our western region, only the PC version has been confirmed (with what little news we know).

I’m hopeful it’s in the works for Wii U because Reggie stated we still have many third-party games that have not been announced yet for the Wii U.

I think I may have accumulated around 1500 over PSO Ep. 1 & 2 on the Nintendo GameCube and Blue Burst on PC after combining all of my play-time data for each of my characters.

If it does come to the Wii U, I hope we can just pay the normal retail price for the game and not have to worry about the freeware crap associated with it (play it like a REAL Phantasy Star Online sequel in other words without the microtransactions).

I’ve never liked Monster Hunter because the game is too gritty and realistic for me to really bother with, but I can see why the Japanese love the game to death. I have always thought of the PSO community as one that is stronger in the West than it has been in Japan.

I mean, PSO has a rich history of being the FIRST ever online game for a console (the Dreamcast). That alone speaks for itself and why it has such a large and diverse fanbase all across the world. That said, I do want the developers to take advantage of the Wii U’s capabilities though. A direct port with a couple of enhanced features that don’t try to do anything special with the interaction between the GamePad and the TV screen just won’t cut it for me.

In other words, all I ask for is a PSO2 on Wii U that doesn’t just display a map and your menu on the GamePad screen and call it finished. Use the GamePad to allow players to shoot in first-person mode as a Ranger when the display is above the screen (think Wii Sports Baseball Demo from E3 2011), allow us to play the game solely on GamePad, support Wii U Pro Controller (for PSOGC veterans), incorporate Miiverse functionality into the experience, interactive map on the GamePad (fleshed out and easy to search through with the tap-and-scroll of a finger like in Pikmin 3), streamline menus to GamePad, chat functionality (voice and text), and, most importantly, let up to five players play together (with one using GamePad and others using traditional Wii U Pro Controllers) to play some classic offline multiplayer gameplay.

        1. Hey now, don’t go dissing the Vita and Android. Both, just like Apple and Nintendo products, offer great experiences even if you don’t like them because of some misplaced exclusive consumer brand loyalty.

  1. Nice. But I thought it was going to launch with 50 games? What happened to the large selection of games that were being named at E3 and such? I mean, I heard not all of them were confirmed but still..

Alba I love that avatar… Going to have to find me one with a different color screen. For some reason your looks HD. Better than anything else on my screen, hmm…

I meant scheme, sorry people! The great Reggie never fails, because I fix it before it is a mistake! Haha.

    1. That’s the amount being launched in something Nintendo call “The Launch Window” which will be going over from November 30th until March 2013

  2. Looks like Tomorrow Corp. have went from casual to CORE!!!! Little Inferno seems to me a very promising title at the eShop for the U.

  3. So, I have the premium console & 3 games pre-ordered. Problem is, there’s 3-4 more I want to buy ON LAUNCH DAY. There’s another 5-6 I’m interested in playing & this does not include the eShop titles that will be there day one. One of those I want to buy & there’s a few more I wanna check out. This is a LOT of content for any system, that is IF these are the types of games that even interest a person. But with the diversity of titles & genres, I’d say they covered the bases pretty damn good. I may not even be able to afford all 3 games on that day with the console & have to choose right there at midnight depending on the $ situation. Plus, I’ll need A LOT of free time just to play this stuff I’m getting ON DAY ONE (not including ANY “launch window” games, just 1st day availability). A damn good start Nintendo.

    BY COMPARISON

Nintendo 64 launched in Japan with 2, that’s right a TOTAL of two games. A few weeks later a 3rd party chess title arrived, bringing the entire library up to 3. Also, the console launched at $250 WITHOUT A GAME.

We actually have it pretty good.
