Nintendo Remains The Top Dog In Japan

    1. also vita had its biggest week in software releases for the remaning year and has got no line up for holidays. its about 50 % sales are from last holiday so i think even neo geo pocket will overtake it. according to wikipedia NGP sold 2 million which at present is at the least point in the chart and i dont see vita reaching 2 million in japan cause it will break 1 million next week and 2013 has only soul sacrifice as the notable game. obviously it cant bail it out. rest are on ps3 and psp so nothing aint work.

3ds will hit with 38/40 famitsu scorer bravely default flying fairy , project x zone, animal crossing jump out , lugi’s manison dark moon and pokemon mystery dungeon in japan. 3ds will kill next year .

and if NGP can overtake it then crossing streams with wonder swan is almost inevitable.

      1. You have no clue what your talking about. The Vita line up for the rest of the year is HUGE. The 3DS has one or two big releases this year and thats it.

      1. sony just said that it will support vita for 10 years in an interview with koller recently. however i believe it is just to keep people in delusion.
however discontinuing vita is not a good move before releasing ps 4.

yet its the retailer’s choice and they will require space for wii u too.

        1. I’m sure they will. They have done so with all of their hardware. Both the PS1 and PS2 were supported for over 10 years. 8 years so far of PSP (and it still sells well in Japan), and I’m sure they’ll continue to do so with the PS3 and Vita.

  1. Eat your hearts out ( Sony ps division and Microsoft xbox RROD division) it’s Nintendo.

Now you are playing with power.

              1. Agreed, however the NEED to start making some money. If they can bring enough money to cover overhead costs, they don’t need to be #1.

If, however they keep burning theough cash quicker than they can recover, they’re fucked.

                1. They would save a lot of money if they stop making handhelds and just focus on home consoles. Imagine what money they could have saved/made if the PSVita never happened.

                  1. I don’t think you know how money and business works if you think it would have made any difference what they would have saved.

                    1. I don’t think you do.sony has spent TONS of money to develop the ps vita. The ps3 has a bright future right now and they should have spent more time on it.

                2. ‘If, however they keep burning through cash quicker than they can recover, they’re fucked.’

Isn’t that sort of elementary within business?

  2. 14k for the vita. nice little bump for this week but unfortunately not enough.

as of this week, it’s official: at this point in the vita’s life, it is selling worse than the sega dreamcast was at this point in its life. i wonder how long this trend will keep up

    1. My dreamcast just jumped into life !!! old fellah he is !! . But on a serious note , there is a lot of sony titles in the software charts this week (about time) , but good for them .

I just wish sony would stop copying the big N . They’re making fools out of themselves . They’re not big or clever , ATM they’re a bunch of copycat dick heads .

They are pissing me off soo much with games like PSAS and LBPK and the MOVE , vita wiiu rip off connection , I’m starting to hate them.

I feel more comftorble playing the 360 than ps3 atm , my ps3 makes me cringe a bit .

      1. I’m not a drone. I like Nintendo and Sony but people on this site should give this copy cat bullshit a rest. Nintendo were not the first to do so in HD gaming, online gaming, touch screen gaming, Wii U pro controller looks similar to 360’s etc. They’re not perfect and neither is Sony.

        1. Tell what came first the ds or touch screen phone? Who got motion controll first in gamming ? Hd was first on pc but that is not a break trough evolution.

          1. yep. you´re right. Nintendo introduced motion controls with our old beloved NES in the 80´s, , analog controls with the N64 in the 90´s, touchscreen gaming with the Ds in the 2000´s, 3D capabitilies with the GC (not used because there wasn´t TV´s that supported that)

        2. I have both Sony and Nintendo consoles. I prefer Nintendo, so yeah, maybe I’m biased. Ok I am biased xD
The thing that personally pisses me off about the Sony ‘copying’ knack is their hypocrisy. For example, with the advent of the Wii, Sony called motion controls ‘a gimmick’ and ‘a lollipop’. After the astounding success of Nintendo’s console, Sony introduced their own motion controller…and I don’t need to say what it looks like…
I don’t think people would talk about Sony copying Nintendo so much if they didn’t try to shoot down Nintendo’s products, before ironically attempting to emulate them. And for the record, it’s the US branch of Sony that seems to act this way. The European and Japanese divisions seem much more respectful

    2. Why do people keep bringing up the Dreamcast? It was a major home console release from a company already on their way to bankruptcy. The Vita and Sony are neither. This argument is becoming very, very stupid.

      1. Sony is on their way too. Not posting a company wide profit since 4-8 years, no longer market leader in almost every aspect of their company, credit rating got cut again, stocks are at an all time low for the past few months, there market cap is now lower then nintendo who just make games mind you. Their market cap fell from $100b to just $11 in a matter of years, they closed about 3-4 game studios alone but they still say their gaming market is one of the most profitable ventures. How can you say they arent heading towards bankruptcy after all this? If they aint bringing in money and they are in massive debt how do you expect a company to thrive?

  3. Nintendo 3DS sells + Wii sells = almost 4 x (Play$tation 3 sells + Vita sells).

And $ony still dares to remain arrogant…

  4. Ouch if this is the best vita can do with its biggest software launch week, this thing probably want last for to much longer without any desparate measures.

        1. And it had Y´s, that game has built a lot of hype in Japan, but still…. not enough to drive a lot of Vita sales

  5. Sales sales sales.. great sales should mean great games but where are they? Keep talking about sales, because that is the only thing better about the 3ds sans pokemon.

  6. Sony has been selling the same or less each time so it’s not catching up at all…
Unless it’s PSP you are talking about ;D

  7. Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate Portable. I want to play it. The anime was rather interesting.

Anyways, there were supposed to be several games released this week for Vita or was it next week? I know Littlebigplanet Vita bombed hard last week. 3DS sales are impressive considering it only has 2 games in the top 10.

      1. japan doesn’t care about xbox. they mostly focus on nintendo and sony, and sony’s newest handheld isn’t doing well. don’t try to make it seem like it isn’t in bad shape. after launch, the vita went straight down, with a slight bump back up to ~15k every now and again (which, as i recall, were around the lowest numbers the 3DS put out before the announcement of a price cut. think about it: the 3DS did about the same on its worst pre-pricecut weeks as the vita does on a week when it gets a new game that isn’t wildly popular).

heck, even with persona and hatsune miku, this year’s biggest boosts, the vita still couldn’t even put out numbers on par with one of the 3DS’s slow weeks this year. not to mention that the 3DS XL model alone, which has only been out a couple months, has already surpassed the the vita sales made in 2012 so far.

then there’s times like this, where it seems like the PSP is getting better support than its successor. that’s pretty sad if you ask me. it’s almost like sony doesn’t really care about the vita. its biggest future release that isn’t also on the PSP or PS3 this year is what, assassin’s creed and essentially nothing else? if it weren’t for that confirmation of a 2013 price cut, i would’ve sworn that sony left it for dead

        1. Post this again, this time backing up these stupid assumptions with evidence that Sony doesn’t care about that device. The rest is a bunch of drivel as if people expected a more expensive device to shit out 3DS numbers.

          1. the vita’s numbers started fairly lower (with a HOLIDAY launch) and fell much harder and faster than the 3DS’s after their respective launches. despite having worse sales every [aligned] step of the way and the fact that sony should’ve learned from nintendo’s mistake about trying to push a $250 handheld with basically no compelling software, they denied their system an early price cut and allowed it to spend all of 2012 floundering on the hardware charts. then from the software end, it only has like 2 effective system-sellers so far and this holiday for the vita mostly involves games that can also be bought for other sony systems. lol yeah, i’m sure the vita can feel all of the love sony has for it

            1. Really? Where else can I buy Uncharted:GA, Gravity Rush, LBP PSVita, Ragnarok Odyssey, Soul Sacrifice, and a few others I’m missing right now?

              Right, nowhere. Try again.

        1. Extremely limited vocabulary, Mii avatar, and 100% stupid posts no matter what you’re replying to. You really are a failed abortion.

          1. Says the fool with arrogancy, comments 20x more than the average person here,so many contradicting posts that it’s ridiculous, has been banned so many times it’s not even funny, and a very weird avatar. You really are a pussy with a hairy mudflap ass.

  8. Ouch, Microsoft !!!!! It really hurts to see that Xbox360 can´t even match the sales of the Playstation 2 in Japan !!!!

    1. it’s fine because it still does pretty well in the west. if the 360 had even half of the PS3’s japanese sales, it would be ahead of it in global weekly sales. japan may not really care about the 360 but north america sure does!
