Analytics firm Nielsen has posted consumers most anticipated console games this holiday season. You’ll notice that Nintendo’s forthcoming Wii U console is absent from the data, but the original Wii is included. Nielsen says that the results are determined by leveraging several key consumer metrics (including Awareness, Purchase Interest and others) into one overall score.

It should be . It’s 6 years old and all the developers have been focusing on the WiiU since 2011 . Wii served us well whilst it lasted but wasn’t built to live as long as the ps3 and 360 were . That’s why we’re getting the wiiu 1-2 maybe even 3 years before the ps4 and 720.
Nintendo is doing there own thing , so don’t worry about comparing them to their competitors .

I’m not “expecting” anything different, there’s no real reason why it wouldn’t be when the system still has yet to be unveiled and probably won’t be until late 2013.

After the wii , people believe Nintendo is good enough to make a popular console and they have the money to do it aswell.
The wii was Nintendo saying ”what can we do with a tiiny amount of money that will make us money and be popular again ?” simple answer the wii . The wiiu could still be classed a bit ”gimmicky” but a lot more serious none the less. It can produce graphics slightly better maybe even a lot better than the ps3 and 360 and power 2 screens at once and all that.
The wiiu is launching in UK for £250-£350 the wii was £180. You can see Nintendo is stepping their game up a bit.
Compared to the Xbox, GCN was not a “tiny bit of money for Nintendo”. The Original Xbox was a disaster in terms of profit for MS, in fact I recall they actually lost well over a billion on it. The Xbox 1 was a giant money pit, and they killed it off quite fast for a reason.
While their current strategy is similar to the HD twins, the issue is how long will it last, that’s why people are concerned about the horsepower of the Wii U. If it ends up being a second Wii, then it isn’t going to be good on those consumers again.

5 years of “terrific” titles that could have been further terrific on hardware that’s built to last and handle a lot more. No such thing happened with the Wii, and it didn’t have to be that way either. You know very well if it was more in tune with the current HD consoles but balancing whatever gimmick they chose with decent hardware, you wouldn’t be needing another console for multiplatform titles that most certainly would have been on the Wii if it wasn’t an overclocked Gamecube.
The Wii has exclusives, but how many of them are worthwhile? Technically almost every Wii game is an exclusive seeing as how butchered they were in comparison to consoles.
I agree with you, the wii is far from perfect infact in one sense it is disabled. But it still stood tall with games like Smash bros , prime 3 , Skyward sword galaxy 1 and 2 , xenoblade ,Monster Hunter Etc .

I got my Wii in 2009 or 2010. It was was a great system untill I found out about the 3DS. I neglected my Wii ever since I got my 3DS. And since I’m getting the Wii U, which is the succesor of the Wii I found myself just not caring for my Wii. I will still keep my Wii games for they will always be irraplaceable though. The Wii is a great system I won’t deny that.

Try the beta first (I know its not the last built) but it feels stiff, slow, and just not completly there. It feels as slow and floaty as Brawl. As for me I’m cancelling my pre-order and might buy it after I try the final version, but for now, I’m super dissapointed in PSASBR.

With 100 millions Wiis sold, Nintendo can lend and publish monster hunter freedom unite, upscale it to 480P crisp and have some of the free Nintendo EAD stuff work on it for the Wii. Release that baby on the day Sony and Microsoft have their E3 and watch the Wii sales sole at $129.99.

Halo 4 and NFS Most Wanted (PS3 version) are the games I’m looking forward from that list, though I’ll have to wait for NFS next year cause I need a new HDD for the PS3. Sucks cause I was really looking forward to it too. Everything 3rd party on that list I can wait on for the Wii U, and not looking forward to anything else on the Wii right now. Transformers Prime sounds interesting but hope it plays like Highmoon Studios games, not like the movie-based ones.

Well the HUD thing in Halo 4 looks like it functions like Metroid Primes, and some of the enemies from the trailer if I can remember, seemed to be inspired by Metroid Prime as well. And yeah, the ex Retro members working on Halo 4 is why I’m excited for the game.
