To celebrate the launch of Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D for Nintendo 3DS on May 24, Nintendo is partnering with the Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens on Memorial Day weekend (May 24-27) to host an event on the L.A. Zoo grounds. The four-day event will feature fun activities for all members of the family, including an interactive experience at the Campo Gorilla Reserve, various demo stations where attendees can play the Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D game and coupon giveaways for $5 off the game at participating GameStop retail stores. For the weekend, the gorilla area will be temporarily renamed the “Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D at Campo Gorilla Reserve.

One of the weekend’s main events, a Donkey Kong Interactive Experience, allows visitors to watch L.A. Zoo staff feed the real-life gorillas from giant cardboard barrels that are inspired by the barrels featured in the video game. This friendly, educational activity is a one-of-a-kind experience for families and a treat for the gorillas. In addition to the feeding, there will be opportunities for fans to take pictures with the costumed Donkey Kong character around the zoo.

“Fans will get a chance to spend time with Donkey Kong and some of his friends from the animal kingdom at the L.A. Zoo this Memorial Day weekend. They’ll be able to experience a fun day with Nintendo at the zoo and play Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D.”

– Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing

      1. Cause incest-Ville Bayous cannot comprehend technology. They think a 3DS is a doctors x-ray machine lol.

  1. This is a actual interesting way to promote your games, Nintendo, do not let down the Wii U

    1. This partnership and the one with the famouse art museum, the Louvre are awesome get togethers. Nintendo is truely an extraordinary company. 💋

  2. Is clearly that they are preparing a counter attack to get all of there platforms on shape.

    1. Zoos are great!!! They teach people about the magnificent creatures of our planet that many overlook. Some animals kept in zoos belong to the endangered species list. Being in a safe haven (the zoo) they are safe from harm such as disease, poachers, etc. Zoos are actually very important. Say the Panda goes extinct in it’s natural habitat… well the D.C Zoo has a couple Pandas and they could use their DNA to either breed more or clone them safely. (with China’s clarification of course :P) 💋

    2. Looks like ‘Anonymous the Pissed off Penguin’ escaped the the zoo again! Quick, get him!

  3. Wow! If only they shall promote the Wii U like they are the 3DS. Then! I ponder, yes they will :).

  4. All joking aside, this sounds kind of dangerous:

If I worked there I’d fake an injury to get out of that.

    1. I’m sure they feed the gorillas all the time. It’s not like they are making them do anything new. 💋

  5. Ewwww! Sounds like it will be full of bratty, little kids. Definitely would not want to go to the zoo on those days.

  6. Why does Nintendo ignore the East coast??? Everything is always in California… that state (no offense) kinda sucks. 💋

  7. Man I was just there 2 weeks ago. Had I known what I know now I would have waited.

  8. What do you mean the west gets everything!? You guys in the east have the freaking Nintendo Store. We Don’t. I’m glad we are getting this. Time to go to the zoo again!

  9. the guy in the dk suite is going to be held hostage with a real ape after him trying to be cool with the ape. poor donkey kong. he wil be playing the game in there and finding himself, adapting to wilderness. trying to run away way when the ape is trying to rape him. till he gets rescued and tells his story retarded like about actually him being donkey kong for real and gives them the game. that would be a good advertisement.
