Nintendo Has Failed To Acquire WiiU.com

wii_U_white

The World Intellectual Property Organisation has denied Nintendo’s request to the URL wiiu.com. The domain belongs to an individual who registered it long before even the original Wii console existed.  The World Intellectual Property Organisation did not cite a specific reason why the filing was denied. But it has emerged that the domain was actually up for auction a few days before Nintendo filed its complaint. Nintendo could have purchased it at a discounted price, but decided not to. It’s unclear whether they will ever own the domain.

    1. shows how stuckup nintendo is. could buy it decided it was theirs nd went after it. nintendo is so stuck up on its self. they r not gods..

      1. We never said that Nintendo is a god, we were just saying that I must suck for them. Plus, if you want to bash Nintendo, please do it somewhere else

      2. If you owned a company like Nintendo and owned/manufactured a piece of world renowned hardware, wouldn’t you expect to get the URL? Heck, I would have done the same thing probably. Celebrities and companies acquire their names on Twitter without paying for anything. If it’s a situation where someone is using your name as in trying to pretend they are you or something (if the person had a picture of the actually Wii U on their website or something without a disclaimer) Nintendo then would have the right to take their website (or should).

      1. You’re* :P . Seriously though , I will actually pay you to stop Why u mad from getting top comment lol!

          1. Why u mad, Why u mad?

Just teasing, like with my other comment in my other thread, if you thought it was trolling. :P

  1. they clearly don’t care….. they will always have the main site and each console gets its place on there. i have never seen or used 3ds.com ds.com wii.com gamecube.com n64.com gba.com etc etc etc :p

  2. Sad thing is the website was registered before 2004 so nintendo had no right to file a complaint against the site.

    Patent trolls be trolling.

  3. Not sure if this would make a difference but can they do WiiU.com instead of wiiu.com see the 2 capitalized letters?

  4. Nintendo has the right to claim the domain for themselves.
    That’s the priority principle.
In a nutshell: nemo plus iuris ad alium transferre potest quam ipse haberet.

  5. Ultra hd guy when hd isnt enough

Guys i havent been on this site in a long time. I was spendin my no life spec obsessive days at ultra hd brotherhood. Wii u doesnt count as ultra hd system because its hd system, now we have made up this ultra hd from our fat ass. We were known as hd brotherhood first but now that nintendo has powerful hd system we created ultra hd from our fat ass so we can ignore Nintendo again. We are cryin because Nintendo has best exclusives and powerful system with best controller, but we have ultra hd goddamnit. Ultra hd doesnt exist, but it has to have something in common with hd. Im no life fat 30 year old virgin, hood in my head livin still with my parents basement, i dont have nothing else in my life than ultra hd. Im gonna eat hamburger now. I stink also.

    1. If you hate the Wii U, why did you post this in a blog post portraying Nintendo’s failure as a bad thing?

  6. I have no sympathy for Nintendo on this, and have to assume they just didn’t want it that badly.

A.) They could have bought it, and chose not to. (this being the main reason)

B.) WiiU was a poor choice to name a new, innovative console. Nintendo’s first HD console and they tethered it to a console people associate with poor graphics and kid games. WiiU could have been an opportunity for Nintendo to walk away from the stigmata of weak hardware and they could have redefined their image JUST WITH A NEW NAME. They could have left the console how it is, and marketed it as something new to redefine gaming. But they left “Wii” in the name. If it didn’t confuse people, then it made others assume it was weak. (Let’s just not go there right now) The Wii took the casual market by storm and made Nintendo a shot load of money. Great. Congrats Nintendo, now take your winnings and MOVE ON. They stretched the Wii lifespan too long, and by the time they had a new Console, they were sick of sub-par graphics. Skyward sword was great. (IMO), Xenoblade was amazing, Let the Wii rest in peace on those final titles.

C.) This is consistent with the tremendous amount of planning, strategy and foresight we’ve seen so far. “What, Nintendo caught off guard again? Didn’t think ahead about what was going to happen? Yep. Must be part of the WiiU launch strategy.
