Mother 4 is the fan-made sequel to the international cult-classic series, Mother. Set in an idealized vintage America, Mother 4 follows the adventures of a young boy and the leader of a biker gang, who get caught up in the whirlwind events surrounding a group calling themselves the Modern Men. The official website for the game says it’s coming Winter 2014.

Earthbound is Earthbound. You simply can’t compare how bizarre and wonderful the game is. The music in this trailer gives a perfect demonstration of what it is. Playful and light hearted, but dark and eccentric at the core.

I agree. Everyone keeps believing WAY too much that there will never be a Mother 4. I for one think there will be, eventually. No good series ever comes to a final end. Especially if they think it’s a big money maker.

Yeah, that’s kinda because Nintendo was the one who decided there would be another. You know, the company who owns the IP? Do these so-called fans own the Mother IP? No! So why do they think they get to decide when a Mother game comes out? Do you really think a bunch of usurpers are going to be positively acknowledged as “one of Nintendo”? And do you really think Nintendo is going to suddenly backstab one of its most respected developers for a bunch of hacks who think they know Mother better than the developer does? Oh, Nintendo will probably take the Mother 4 all right. They’ll take it and rightfully disown any acknowledgement towards these “fans.” And those “fans” for some stupid reason are going to be pissed off because they went behind a company they supposedly respect and made something and expected a reward, profit, or acknowledgement for it. Cuz you know that’s all these fans really care about: Money or fame. They definitely don’t give a crap about Nintendo whatsoever.
Your forgetting one thing though…and if they are smart, the fan would put one on right away as soon as he’s done with the game IF he decides to try and bring it to nintendo…and that is called “a patenet”. Do you know what a patenet is? It’s a legal document stating that the idea is either an improvement to a current product or directly their idea. If the fan put one on and gave it to nintendo, nintendo would have a choice to try sue the fan, buy it from the fan and have no choice but acknowledge the game, or the fan will simply sell the idea (which he clearly has a demo of the game) with a game design document for a set amount of money. I for one do believe that if the owner of the original game saw this, it can go two ways. One way is he’s happy about it and will acknowledge the game to be a sequel to the previous games. Second way, be extremely pissed off and won’t even look at it, toss it in the trash and sue the hell out of the fan making huge headlines. Yes I do believe nintendo would do this to its own producer but not without showing him and telling him saying “we have found a fan that made a sequel to your game, we would like to add it to our collection, please understand”. You gotta think like a developer to understand how a company works dude.

Wow, this looks great! I wasn’t expecting much from a fan project, but it’s obvious that the team behind this really cares.
For something fan-made, it looks really good. If I didn’t already know, I’d say it looked straight from Nintendo themselves.
I’m curious to see where this goes.
