Fighting Game Community Makes Nicalis Drop 3DS Game, Develop It For Vita Instead

yata

Beloved 3DS developer Nicalis has changed directions with its Japanese fighting game called Yatagarasu. Online fighting game communities expressed their dissatisfaction when they heard that Nicalis was bringing the game to Nintendo’s popular handheld, demanding they develop it for PS Vita instead. Eager to please the game’s devoted followers, Nicalis heeded what they called an “overwhelming response” from Yatagarasu fans, announcing that the game will be retitled Legend of Raven and launched for PS Vita. Despite the fact that 3DS owners will be losing out on what looked to be an interesting title from Nicalis, the company is still planning to release the popular iOS and Android JRPG Grinsia for 3DS in the near future.

        1. No, you’re right. But a lot of the Vita owners will buy it. According to some reports (don’t feel like looking for the links since I’m about to run out for dinner – Google is your friend), the Vita has a high attach rate for digitally downloaded titles.

Reasons why we see a lot of indie games selling the most on Vita and a lot of indie devs flocking in droves to the system.

            1. PS Vita has sold over 10 games for every system Sony sold. It’s a known fact. But nintendo has sold way more 3ds systems just less games per unit sold.

              1. Please link….I have seen no data to back that. I have seen data to show digital sales are good on 3DS, a few have been as high as 10 to 1 over iOS and Android.

                1. look it up yourself. i also work in retail and psvita buyers always purchase at least 2 games while 3ds buyers either just buy the console or they buy 1 game.

                2. as J said, look it up yourself, Google, Yahoo, and Bing are out there for a reason. Also, in case you didnt watch the Sony’s E3 Keynote, thats when it was made public.

                  1. I can’t find anything legit on sales of Vita games. All I get is hoping to turn Vita sales around. Sorry, but I do know 3DS has a high digital attach rate, much higher than iOS and Android.

                3. Oh yeah, ignore the fact that i said that it was all made public at SONY E3 Keynote. Let me guess, you didnt watch it, right?

                  1. he probably didnt watch it. Totally getting a PS4 tho. I don’t need to prove anything to you. I didnt say anything about articles stating anything. I am taking about first hand retail. Ever since gamespot.com used. to be a huge gaming community, all ppl would cry about is “link plz” “proof” “linksss nao.” you are on a video game community/forum…on the INTERNET. the purpose of one is to bring info to your attention. you can do the rest and use the internet too and search up info

                    1. Well, here’s how I see it. If you can’t back it up, then your lying, but that’s just me, not you, not lol, not anyone else…my vision. It’s not rather I’ve seen it or not but more of others seeing it or not since they don’t believe you. See, I’m just one in many who thinks like Shokio, he only saw 2 games worth the while on ps4, me? Well…I’m gonna be honest…I’m right along with shokio. I see more worth while games on Xbox 1 and Wii U. Maybe a few games, one in paticular coming for it called Legend of Raven. Too me, all the systems are following the same thing as nintendo is but 3ds is creaming Vita no matter how hard they try to copy the steps. You can’t show it to me, then you can’t prove dick to all these people here. I’m really not doing this for my own sake because I can get around the gaming community pretty dam well. It’s just like I said before, “show me or admit defeat”. By that, I don’t mean by me, but by everyone else who does the damage control and stands up against you who are nintendo fanboys/nintendo fangirls. It don’t matter to me either on how you go or how you’ll play the “vita beats 3ds” game, facts are facts and the 3ds is certainly on a roll over the vita. I’m really saving your asses from them by calmly acting like them in a way so to speak.

          1. @Rafael..And yet, the 3DS is currently the best selling system in the world! In truth, they could develop this game for BOTH systems. Instead, they take a calculated risk, by dropping the development of their game for a system with a HUGE install base, for a system with a much SMALLER install base. This shows great business acumen, not!!

            1. I think you aren’t realizing this is a fighting game, where a lot of people demanded it on the vita. They demanded it so much, with so little complaint that it actually succeeded. If that can happen, then I am quite sure that it will sell more than it would on the 3DS…

          2. I really find that utterly and inconclusively false. Compare Vita’s 3-6 million sold units to 3DS’s 40 million. Which portable has a bigger audience and is more profitable again?…

Open your damn eyes and stop insisting that the Vita has a shot at all. Once Pokemon X/Y launches worldwide with a possible exclusive 3DS bundle, it’s gonna be an overkill day for the Vita. It’s done and not even a $50-100 price drop is gonna save it.
As for those stupid a** fans crying for Vita over 3DS; if it’s even true, they clearly have no f***ing idea how dead the Vita really is. Even the Wii U has a better fighting chance to become more successful.

            1. Companies want to release their games on Vita because they’re making a profit from it. Lots of Vita sales are digital, which means no physical costs, some have cross-buy with PS3, Sony has Steam-like sales, while Nintendo hasn’t even established an account system yet and all their games are the same price as physical. They’re far behind, and that takes a shot at their profitability.

Ubisoft made more money from Vita than 3DS, and that’s absurd when you compare platforms with a 25~35 million units of difference. Yet, if you ask me where I want to put my game, I’ll put it on the portable where indie games are selling well for $15, not where they’re collecting dust for $3

People buy the 3DS because of Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, and that’s were they spend their money. If you buy a Nintendo platform because of Nintendo games, you’re not going to experiment a lot with other games, you’ll just get everything Nintendo puts out.

Why would a company change their game from the best selling platform to another? They’re not dumb, they know where the money is.

                1. Grand Turismo has been made for all Sony sytems. What makes you think they arent going to develope one for vita?

Remember when Nintendo said we werent getting a price drop on the 3DS, and then we got one, Remember a Redesign was out of the question? Then we got the XL.

Companies lie, they always have, always will. GT is their biggest selling franchise do you really think theyll neglet the vita from it??

              1. Thats silly, people buy Nintendo consoles for good 3rd party games. My first game on the 3DS was Street Fighter 4, as was most people who bought it near launch.

                1. Street Fighter 4 came on 3DS, and then what else? Marvel vs Capcom 3? Vita. Mortal Kombat? Vita. Guilty Gear? Vita. Street Fighter x Tekken? Vita. What’s the next fighting game you’ll get on 3DS? Super Smash Bros. From who? Nintendo.

                  1. Well after Street Fight 4, there was Guilty Gear which sold well. DoA which sold well. Then Tekken which sold ok. Yes, I might get Smash Bros. on the 3DS. There was an independent game coming. Yes all those companies lost sales on me, cause I could have very well bought there game.

But guess what I still wouldn’t buy a Vita, I like different types of games. The Vita just is a no go for me, you are not going to convince me to get something I don’t want.

                    1. Not trying to convince you, just pointing out you’re not getting the games you want on the portable with the best sales. That’s incompetece from Nintendo’s part, where companies actually prefer to put games on Vita

                2. “Thats silly, people buy Nintendo consoles for good 3rd party games.”

Actually, most people buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo only games these days.

                3. Psh, what are you saying? Nowadays most only buy it for Nintendo games. Like me. They’re totally worth it compared to many other 3rd party games.

              2. “Companies want to release their games on Vita because they’re making a profit from it.

Ubisoft made more money from Vita than 3DS, and that’s absurd when you compare platforms with a 25~35 million units of difference.”

No they’re not. If that was true, more vita handhelds would have been sold more. Plus Ubisoft wouldn’t have came to the wii u side to help them with sales, even though its bullshit on their lies for DLC. Even with digital sales, vita needed to sell more units in order to match that kind of sales compared to the 3ds sales.

“People buy the 3DS because of Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, and that’s were they spend their money. If you buy a Nintendo platform because of Nintendo games, you’re not going to experiment a lot with other games, you’ll just get everything Nintendo puts out.”

That maybe a little true, Mario, Zelda, and pokemon are nintendo’s heavy hitters but your still missing the point and alot of other heavy hitters like Fire Emblem. Plus nintendo is choice for millions of people. To me, its two reasons, one is because I play multiple systems, two is because of my 6 year old nephew.

“Why would a company change their game from the best selling platform to another? They’re not dumb, they know where the money is.”

No, I disagree again, if they were truly smart, they would develope for both systems, THAT…is where the money is. Trying to sell on a less sold handheld is fool hardy. Face it, your not winning this fight sir. Know your status before running the mouth. If you claim such a thing, show me the link. Otherwise, accept defeat.

                1. During the GameCube era, companies would develop a game for PS2, Xbox and not port it for GameCube, because it was just a waste, they never managed to sell how much as they wanted.

Companies making more money on a platform does not mean the platform sells more. PS Vita will not start selling because it’s the most profitable. However, it will get more games, and that’s exactly what we see now, lots of announcements for Vita, not that many for 3DS.

                    1. Seriously? You haven’t seen more Vita announcements than 3DS? I can’t remember anything being annonced for the 3DS lately, Sony spilled like 20 games during Gamescom

  1. All the 10 active PS Vita gamers caused an uproar, and they decided to drop support for platform with about 10 times bigger user base?

What the fuck is wrong with these developers?

    1. There’s less competition for Vita games. 3DS already has Project X Zone, and will get SSB4 very soon… meanwhile, what Vita games would get in their way?

        1. Portable consoles are a whole lot less interchangeable with each other than TV consoles. You can make a game for the Wii U, PS4 AND Xbox One (since they’re so very similar), whereas you’ll either make a game for the PSVita OR the 3DS.

      1. If this was a Wii U game, then I’d get pissed. We have nothing to worry about with Pokemon X & Y and Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

            1. Yes indeed…

It will gather so much resources that it will extend our Empire’s existence by 13,4 cycles more…

I can’t wait to get my hands on them…

          1. Maybe for 3D fighting game, where you aren’t relying too much on quarter circles and360’s and 720’s…. but this is a 2D fighting game silly, and one that will play like old school 2D fighting games. It’s much more important to have a working analog stick then :P

          2. You clearly haven’t played any fighting games.
Try to do special moves on the 3DS D-Pad in Street Fighter 4 and you’ll see what we’re talking about.

  2. Wait, let me get this straight.
You’re going to move a game from the 3DS to PS Vita…
A system that has sold 10 if not 20 times more then the Vita…
And to try and make things “better” they give us an JRPG that’s already on a iOS?
If anything to make good sells why not put it to both handhelds? That would be much more of a profit if anything…

  3. THE ONLY FIGHTING GAME I CURR AND I LIKE ITZ SMASHS BRUSS I WONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THIS INDIE GAME OR WHATEVER

  4. Who cares? Not a big loss. It doesnt look that impressive fightin game anyway. And besides fightin games on handhelds are pain to play for many reasons, thats why i question why Smash needs to be on 3DS. Handhelds are more rpg and platformer machines imo.

  5. They had no other option, the game was so bad that Masahiro Sakurai said,”There can only be one fighting game on a Nintendo console or handheld, and it sure ain’t gonna be you!” So they moved to Sony and Shigeru Miyamoto said,”PlayStation All-Stars wasn’t good so we are glad a worse game is coming for us now to prove that our PlayStation All-Stars doesn’t suck!”

  6. Not sure if it will sell well on the Vita. It hasn’t done very well lately.

The 3DS on the other hand…

We need to start a petition to get the 3DS version back in development!

    1. Meh. I buy what I get, I’m tire of begging for games from other consoles is easier to beg for the ones that are for the console but haven’t been released outside of Japan.

  7. Busy with all my 3DS games anyway..but there only complaining because they didn’t have the game on ps vita. Now nintendo fans will ask for the game.

  8. It’s funny that these devs avoid putting thier games on the wii u because it doesn’t have a very large install base, yet they decide to cancel a game for the 3ds. a console that does have a massive install base, In favor of bringing it too sonys failed console that barely anyone owns . The irony of this situation, so they are happy to support and take a chance to support sony’s failed console but not the wii u huh ?.

  9. Seriously? What stops them from releasing the game on both systems?
Then again, perhaps the VITA is in need of getting actual exclusives. Literally the only things that appeal to me on this system is Persona and a few visual novels. Let me guess, no backward compatibility with PSP ?

    1. No physical backwards compatibility with PSP because the UMD is a terrible and expensive format that nobody wants to use anymore.

” the VITA is in need of getting actual exclusives”

Erm, here’s a list of just some of the PS Vita exclusive games. Not ports, not enhanced versions of games or remakes. Exclusive, original titles only found on Vita.

Soooo, which one isn’t an actual exclusive? Or should I list more games?

        1. You mean the system that was out a full year before the Vita?

The system that sells a crap ton more than the Vita? What’s your point? I know the 3DS has a lot of exclusives. I play them!

I wasn’t comparing anything. I was responding to your false claim that the Vita has no exclusives.

I have no need to compare or pit one against the other. I just enjoy what both have to offer.

          1. ”No exclusives” was an intented exageration. My actual claim was that it has considerably less games than 3DS and that its current exclusives aren’t impressive enough to attract customers, for the most part at least.

            1. Well, no crap it has less games than the 3DS.

As for its current exclusives not being “impressive enough,” they are very impressive. People are just too scared to step out of their comfort zones. They want the same franchises, the same games, over and over. The Vita has a lot of games that people don’t know about and don’t *want* to know about. But at the same time, that’s why Nintendo games do very well on the whole. People feel safe with their strong IP’s.

The Vita, a system that was released a year after the 3DS, has almost the same amount of highly rated games as the 3DS. People just don’t know about them. That’s partially the fault of Sony’s terrible marketing and partly on ignorant gamers who don’t want to try new things (thus stifling the industry).

Check for yourself if you want:

Vita (about 59 in green): http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/release-date/available/vita/metascore?view=condensed

              3DS (about 60 in green): http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/release-date/available/3ds/metascore?view=condensed

              1. Yeah, I’m sure there are many hidden/underappreciated gems on the Vita, but not on the surface which is why it isn’t too popular at the moment.
However, not that I want to contradict you, but on the Vita list, many of the games that are in green are ports or multi-plats.

  10. Proof that Sony drones/Xbots are worse than Nintendo fans. I don’t recall anyone ever clamoring for a PS360 game to be cancelled in favor of a Wii U version. We just want the games, we don’t care that other people get to play it on other consoles too.

    1. Compared to our evolved wiser species, the Sonyans and the Xbots are a young and violent species…

They lack the evolved sense of justice and manners and must be put on Quarantine for further studies…

And we will soon see the destruction of the Nicalis Tribe…

        1. Who said we would do anything to them?…

They are obviously taking care of that themselves just like every other fallen enemy of the past, most notably the Atarians…

      1. Please stop taking that console war so seriously, it’s pathetic to look at.
Don’t act like Nintendo drones are never as bad as drones of other console. A fanboy is still a fanboy, no matter what they worship.

    2. Did they say to cancel the other version? or did fans just want it on another platform too? I believe the cancellation was purely a dev decision. So, that’s a bit of a stretch there.

Nintendo fanboys are among some of the worst, most deluded fanboys out there. They’re all bad: Sony fanboys, Microsoft fanboys, PC elitists, etc. But Nintendo fanboys are pretty damn terrible too. Don’t get it twisted.

  11. I’m not a huge fighting game person, so I don’t care too much… But can someone explain to me WHY it is the fighting community complained? The 3DS has just as many buttons and everything… All it’s missing is a second slide pad. which can be added. Given this game is pixels rather than 3D models I don’t see the issue being FPS. You know, since fighting gamers seem to cry if the frames aren’t “perfect”…

  12. I guess most people complaining knows wack about this game. Which kinda shows how much people likes to complain about stuff they don’t really know anything about, or have any interest in… Quite sad really :( But then again, quite laughable <3

  13. Why are we mad by the time this game comes out ssb4 will be out and who will be buyi.g this game over that one?

Actually now I think of it I can’t wait to see which sales better the 3ds or Wii U version.

  14. Read this almost a week ago. I really don’t have the money to literally buy anymore 3DS games lol. So what it moved to Vita, learn to share, the PS4 controller Vita needs some games.

  15. So, let me get this thing, he is choose to please a community with less that what? 6 million users, rather to please the community with more that 30 millions users?

I do not know if to call him a devout developer to his fan base or a complete idiot.

  16. instead of crying like a baby, I wrote a letter to the Nicalis team using their contact form in their website. Why don’t you do the same? ask if the game can be also for 3DS and make pressure?

  17. Well, it’s hard not to get ensnared with the fandom and the judgment calls when something like this occurs. Personally, I have little faith with developers who let the fans sway them this way, because it reveals they really have little insight on the business front.

Personally, I feel Nicalis should develop the game for BOTH systems and let the people decide what they really want. Essentially since I’ve seen this type of thing before, and in truth, it really doesn’t bother me.

Why? Well, I recall once where a popular title was going to be exclusive for one system, until people started bitching and moaning about why it couldn’t be put on its competitor. So, the developers decided to stop making it for that system and produce it for the competitor. But about halfway through the conversion and development, they discovered they were eating their words. One reason was the fact they forgot how difficult it was for developing games for the competition, not to mention the competition suddenly wanted them to be EXCLUSIVE only for their systems. As a result, they ended up dropping the title altogether.

Meaning, in short, I’m waiting for when Nicalis will discover programming/developing for the PS Vita will be NOTHING like it is for the 3DS. Or they’ll make the game for the PS Vita and fans will bitch about something they had to omit because of some programming constraint.

All well, live and learn, I guess.

    1. I don’t know why I added that “Has” at the beginning of the sentence, excuse me for my poor sentence structure.

  18. Pingback: Fighting game dropped for 3ds and moved to the vita instead.

  19. this is probably because the smashtards will only buy smash bros on nintendo , they probably thought the vita was a better fit. less competition, maybe this game can sell more.

    1. Nice to see a clear thinking individual. These nintendophiles are irritating me. I hope it does. I got enough games for my 3DS anyway. My vita on the other hand…is in need of more games.

  20. So developers avoid Wii U because its install base is low..ignoring the Vita’s install base is low. Yet because 3DS is Nintendo, they rather go to the Vita..If the Vita was selling 40 million units and 3DS owners wanted this fighting game on the Nintendo handheld, the developer would have never left. Proving once again its the developers hatered and make up any excuse to avoid any Nintendo 3rd party game.

    1. If Rare was with Sony instead of Nintendo, and left Sony for Microsoft, after Nuts N bolts, Rare would have returned to Sony. But because in reality it’s Nintendo, Rare is staying with Microsoft!

      1. Individual employees can leave, but “Rare” can’t just leave since they’re owned by the company. They would have to be sold and I don’t see Microsoft doing that.

  21. If Rayman Legends was exclusive to Vita, it would have debuted in March and not get delayed to go multiplat. But because it was supposed to go exclusive for Wii U, it gets delayed for multiplat, yet won’t delay Splintercell for PS3 and 360 so Wii U’s version can get all its features.

    1. I want to see a independent developer in Nintendo’s favor for once. It almost feels like every independent developer is on Sony and Microsoft’s side and against Nintendo. If we you had 8 cores, developers would bitch, Wii U is too powerful. Wii U’s install base is too low. They have every fucking excuse in the book.Ignoring the free kits and it’s easy to make a Wii U game. They bitch about the GamePad but it’s no problem making PS4 games work with the Vita.

      1. We have the most Indie Tribes at our command…

The Nicalis Tribe is only one of the very very few that has betrayed our Empire…

      2. Devs do not have to do much of anything to make PS4 games work with the Vita with respects remote play. That’s built into the hardware and all devs have to do is create an alternate control scheme to match the Vita. Basic, simple stuff.

  22. Becausw Watch Dogs is multiplat Ubisoft perfers to show PS4’s version. Ubisoft perfers to show off XBONE’S ÁND PS4’S version of GHOST yet they say they have faith on Wii U.

    1. Because it was Sony who had to sell their headquarters, the media keeps it hush hush…..let it be Nintendo and the media would talk about until gas price soar, $7.50 a gallon.

  23. Because an Xbox invester wants Microsoft to sell the division, that info is hard to find. Let it be a Wii U invester and it would be 35 articles about that.

  24. Because Pikmin 3 is a wii u exclusive, you can only find less artcles than the fingers on your one hand explaining that Wii U sells boosted 79% in USA. If Pikmin was an Xbox or PS4 game, you’d find numerous articles explaining that.

  25. Because Wonderful 101 is a Nintendo Wii U exclusive, reviwers bash it making reasons why it got a 7 or 8. If it was on an Xbox console, it would have gotten a 10/10.

  26. Because Lost Worlds is exclusive to Nintendo, now Sonic is labled “kiddy” yet when it was on Xbox and Playstayion it wasn’t.

  27. Because Shadow of Darkness needs money to produce a game for Wii U, PC, and PS4 they can’t do it. Yet they perfer to play dumb that Wii U kits are free making it easier to just work on Wii U. But because PS4 is not Nintendo, they perfer to delay it and request for more more than what used to be $200,000 before deciding to make a version for an 8 core console. So they don’t mind delaying their net income until they get the funds.

    1. Dev kits =/= only development costs.

Also, Wii U dev kits are not free for everyone. At the same time, Sony has a massive program lending out free dev kits for PS4 and Vita to a lot of indies (again, not everyone) worldwide.

But dev kits are usually a one-time cost for a company. There are a lot of other factors to consider in game development when it comes down to cost.

  28. Again people in this site fail to realize something: it doesn’t matter how big your installbase is, if you don’t have a community of dedicated gamers for certain genres the game will fail, and Nintendo systems are not famous for having big communities for competitive games outside smash, the VITA has a big fighting game community that is also a compettiive fighting community in other systems, why should they put the game on a system that has absolutely zero players with a competitive mindset (3DS)? Nintendo gamers only care for softcore games from the most famous pop culture franchise of nintento not competitive games and if they want a game like that they only care about smash.

The vita has a nice catalog of Fighting games available for the system like SFxT, Blaz Blue, Guilty Gear, UMVC3, DOA5+, all the psp fighting games, etc. and they actually play well there and even at 60 fps without input lag something that i really doubt i will see in the 3DS again there is absolutely no reason to put this game from these brilliant ex-SNK devs on a system with a dead competitive community.

    1. Install base doesn’t mean nothing? The last time I checked PS3/ 360 were more FPS. While Wii U is about 2D,, 3D platformers. Why Rayman Legends leave from an exclusive then?

      1. Do you know which platform sold the most copies of Rayman Origins? out of the PS3, 360, and Wii. The Wii had the biggest install base, and you know what, It sold the worst. The PS3 had the smallest Install base (at the time) and out of the 3 it sold best. The Wii (The best selling Home console this generation sold 110,000 more copies than the “Vitanic”) The Wii had about 90 Million units sold and the Vita had about 2-3 Million. Do you still wonder why Rayman Legends went multiplat?

        3DS: 0.05M
        PSV 0.34M
        Wii: 0.45M
        360: 0.62M
        PS3: 0.78M

    2. Well your wrong about one thing. If nintendo players were softcore, we wouldn’t be buying Bl ops 2, Slintercell blacklist, rayman legends (not sure if that’s a hardcore platform), blackberry kingdom, watch dogs, Dexus, Ninja Gainden 3, Orroichi Hyper 3 wii u edition, Tekken Torunement Tag 2 wii u edition WITH nintendo downloadable content as an option. So if we buy those, then that must make them softcore too I take it.

  29. Its really too bad that the 10 or so people who really wanted this in the Vita, took it away from the 3DS. I was interested in buying it and was looking to another 2d fight to go along with Street Fighter 4.

    1. Me too. And the 3ds is well suited for fighters because. they can have the move list on the bottom screen. We need more fighting games.

  30. LOL! Drop it for the best selling system with a much larger user base for the system that is the worst selling system and has a much smaller user base. Duh, makes perfect sense.

  31. Maybe one day someone will take a game being developed for PS4 and make it Wii U only.
    This is bullshit though really.

    1. Hahaha the only one being a baby here is you. Bet you don’t care about this game like everyone else who is bitching. Chillax and let the vita have a game.

  32. Really disappointing, I was looking forward to this game. 3DS does not have many fighters. And memory is so expensive on Vita it’s hard to be able to download many titles.

    1. Yeah, that’s one of the few negatives of the Vita. I got the 32 GB memory card and within a month of the system’s launch, I had to start deleting games because it filled up so quickly.

I have deleted so many games from my memory card, I can’t keep track of all of the games that I once had on there now. It’s frustrating, really.

They either need to support the system with more retail releases, or find a viable fix for the storage issue they have. Larger memory cards, built in storage, cheaper costs… These all need to be addressed for the Vita.

        1. I don’t really think that’s the stopping factor. People are just not as aware of what the Vita has to offer. Sony’s marketing has been so bad and it has such a tiny retail presence that people just don’t know.

I mean, all Vitas have been coming with a 4-8GB memory card that will hold you over for a while since about August of 2012. People just don’t know though.

          1. Uh, nothing wrong with it, I mean midevil and so I do plan to get it in the future thanks to the price drop but I’m just pointing out one possibilities on that fact. Keywhole being a hit for sony, its hard not to try it when it hits PS4. Actually, don’t you find it ironic that sony and nintendo are on equal terms on opposite sides? Ok, PS4 is hype for those who want it but the vita is lacking big time, nintendo’s wii u is lacking but the 3ds is hot cakes right now…yet both wii u and vita are both starting to pick up the paste…vita’s price drop and wii u’s games coming in. I would not surprise me if both of them became equal to each other as the xbox might fall behind but not at this time.

  33. Absurd. Switch platforms mid-way through development to appease the minority? Ridiculous.

Very few will buy the game, mostly because very few own a Vita. Nicalis should’ve kept it on the 3DS and told those that complained to jog on. Failing that, develop it for both platforms.

Remember, it’s not just about reaching your target audience. You want your game to attract as many players as possible, and side-lining the handheld with the largest market share and game installbase (which by the way was the original platform of choice) is a seriously bad move. I don’t care if the Vita has a thousand fighting games, the Vita’s overall market share is pretty piss poor compared to the 3DS. Case in point, CoD on Nintendo hardware. Not the most popular of genres on said hardware but still sold reasonably well to those that enjoyed the genre. How many units did the Wii sell overall? Even if 10,000 copies were sold, it’s 10,000 more the company would never have registered otherwise. If this game only sells 10,000 on Vita, but could’ve sold 100,000 on the 3DS, well, Nicalis won’t see those 100,000 sales on the 3DS now will they?

N.B. Numbers are solely illustrative, and aren’t factual in any way.

  36. I’m confused. Many people here very likely never heard of this game before, and I’d be surprised if many here were genuinely interested in it. After all, Nintendo fanboys are convinced Smash Bros is the only good fighting game in existence.
Nicalis would actually fit the Vita much better. Just because 3DS sells more doesn’t mean it would sell more on the system since few 3DS owners are fans of the genre.

  37. This is silly, if the comments above were valid, then the Soul Cailbur series would’ve become Nintendo exclusive because SC 2 sold best on the Gamecube.

Make it for both systems, (they’re similar enough) and everyone wins.

  38. I have both PS vita and 3DS, and also have a PSP and DS Lite… so i dont give a shiet which handheld they release it for… but if they release multiplatform games.. i will get it for vita over the 3ds bcoz of better graphics and controls.
