Three of the best-selling and best-reviewed Wii games of all time are now available at a new low price. Starting today, Super Mario Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Wii Sports Resort are available at a suggested retail price of just $29.99 each.
The new price represents one of the many steps Nintendo is taking to provide shoppers with the best value and variety across all its systems through the end of 2013. The games can also be played on the Wii U home console, which can play the entire library of Wii games.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 is tied with Super Mario Galaxy as one of the best-reviewed games of all time, with a Metacritic score of 97. To date the game has sold more than 2.7 million in the United States alone. New Super Mario Bros. Wii has sold more than 9.4 million in the U.S. and Wii Sports Resort, the follow-up to the game that introduced motion controls to the world of gaming, has U.S. sales of nearly 7 million.

Galaxy 2 is easily my fave platformer ever made.
I know almost everyone will disagree but, in my opinion, Galaxy 2 is far superior than Galaxy 1.

There are some elements that are present in Galaxy 2 that could made Galaxy 1 be even better. Actually, Miyamoto said once that there were so many amazing ideas remaining from Galaxy 1 that the team decided to go for a sequel – something that hadn’t been planned at all. Ultimately, and interestingly, Galaxy 2 only exists because they made Galaxy 1. For sure, both are outstanding games, but Galaxy 2 delivers a wider plethora of mechanics and possibilities.
I really didn’t like 2 compared with1. It was okay, but I didn’t like the tiny little levels. Made it too linear, felt more like a New Mario Bros than a Mario 64 style game. The map was boring, too.
It just didn’t capture the epic-ness of Mario 64, sunshine and Galaxy 1 for me.
The Yoshi’s didn’t add much either. The speed one was pretty cool, but that’s it.
Would’ve rathered something more original that still incorporated the extra ideas.
I see. Actually, it is very interesting that I did not feel that huge difference in linearity between Galaxies 1 and 2. Maybe because I played the 2 years after I played the 1… I don’t know. But I agree that some levels in 2 were way short. But that didn’t bother me, honestly.
Also, I loved how Yoshi’s addition enriched the gameplay and experience. You know, it is absolutely fantastic seeing both together in any game.
Anyways, both are amazing titles, and I got so frustrated when I realized that the upcoming Mario 3D is in reality a sequel of (awful – in my opinion) Super Mario 3D Land… :(
The Galaxy games are not meant to be a recreation of Mario 64. It’s a matter of taste but I prefer the linear style. That is what Mario is to me.

Finally, I can buy back two of my other all time favourite games. I sold them back to gamestop on the days gamestop used to give money back lol, to help my brother out. My comments and surfing are now split between mynintendonews, player essence and nintendo life. Shadow dragonfly, Sickr and Alba can give one hypertension with they way phrase their articles. Plus player essence gives information on other systems that extends your knowledge of how well nintendo is doing. Also widens the reason of why it shall be a PS4WiiU generation for home consoles. Microsoft, if they do not get consumer friendly and remove the Kinect; leaving it only optional shall be crushed. Nintendo and Sony first parties shall be increased this generation. With the success of the last of us, I see Sony getting confident and more innovative. At least on the IP side of gaming.

I’ve never been to Player Essence and Nintendo Life. I’ll peak at them. Also, I’ve been reading Polygon, Joystiq and WiiU Daily – the latter suggested by Anubis. All of them very nice places to keep one updated.

Reality check video games and consoles are toys. Only because the Wii, PS2 and DS family of consoles sold millions was there a rebranding to entertainment. Also nerds mostly play on computers and the xbox360. Nintendo caters to all people groups and ages. Nintendo is prominent on all continents as well. Generations know Mario and have played his adventures :). Ms and Sony know nintendo is like mercedes and Toyota, built to last with quality unmatched :). Thus the bash nintendo while they could both be innovating.

But now we got a price drop in Galaxy 2 – the sequel. Now it is $ 29.99.
While I think price drops are a good thing I think that Nintendo needs to do what Microsoft did recently – announce a date when they will stop promoting the Wii so that consumers will buy the Wii U instead and boost sales of it. MS said 2016 for the 360 and if the Wii was just 2014 that might move units for Wii U. I haven’t played any Wii games pretty much since I got the new system as there is more than enough to keep me busy at the moment.
