Nintendo has released their overall 2013 game sales figures so far for 3DS and Wii U console titles. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon screamed to the top of the list with 863,000 copies sold, while Animal Crossing: New Leaf was close behind, shoveling up 739,000 in sales.
Although Nintendo’s figures included Wii U titles, unfortunately none of them managed to break the top 10, with Pikmin 3 and New Super Luigi U falling just short at 115,000 and 120,000 copies, respectively. After the Wii U’s launch late last year, a dearth of games in the spring of 2013 caused a veritable halt of system and game sales for the gamepad-driven console in the US. Here are the top 10 best-selling games in the US, composed of all 3DS titles:
- Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon – 863,000
- Animal Crossing: New Leaf – 739,000
- New Super Mario Bros. 2 – 406,000
- Fire Emblem Awakening – 390,000
- Mario Kart 7 – 352,000
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity – 298,000
- Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D – 268,000
- Super Mario 3D Land – 265,000
- LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins – 264,000
- Mario & Luigi: Dream Team – 190,000

where’s my lighter? ah there, let’s smoooooooooooke.
Needs more fire emblem on the list.
I haven’t got Fire Emblem: Awakening yet.
These sales seem abysmal to me. Hopefully Animal Crossing New Leaf picks up in sales, and with Zelda and Pokemon releasing soon for 3DS, that should help the system pick up. As for Wii U, I’m honestly concerned. Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros aren’t releasing until next year, which may be too little too late. Hopefully Nintendo doesn’t plan on giving Wii U a 6 year lifespan like they did with the Wii.
Just sales in America, from what I can understand of it.
I really have to start checking myy sources because I read a post claiming luigis mansion sold poorly…which I doubted..now the figures are in and it confirmed my beliefs
Well if your sources include a Microsoft fan site then that’s why your information was misleading. ;) 💋
How’s that misleading? Luigi’s Mansion 2 sold less than the original. That’s pretty low considering 3DS has a bigger install base than GameCube
I JUST SUCKED MYSELF OFF WITH A HOOVER.
LOL
A kirby vacuum would get you off quicker…what? Nothing :-!
YES!
Luigi sold more than mario aint that something?
Those numbers are US and only for this year. They don’t included totals from previous years.
I’m surprised. 💋
Damn if these are the U.S sales for the mighty 3ds I feel bad for future Wii U sales. SM3DW and DKCR TF or any of the holiday games just aren’t going to save it.

Etecoons and dachoras i’ll save you!
Reblogged this on Curiosidades na internet.
Okay, lets do some math here.
1 million app downloads at $1 = $1,000,000
863,000 Sales of Luigis Mansion @ $40 = $34,520,000
Hmmmmm, why does Nintendo have to start making iOS games again?
Luigi’s Mansion and Animal Crossing. Two games that deserve to be on this list. But I will never, as long as I live, understand the appeal of Fire Emblem. At least not the videos I watched on YouTube of it. It looked SO dull and boring.
