The company has always held a Financial Results meeting, so this will come as a surprise to many. Clearly, if this is true, then investors in the company won’t be happy. Nintendo will report its Q2:14 (September) results on Wednesday, October 30th .

Every media company has forms of DRM, even Nintendo. PlayStation never had plans to institute the kind of DRM that Xbox was going to though.
It has already been confirmed that you can play games without downloading the update or connecting online to the PS4. Sony talked about no DRM before the Xbox One was even announced. So it couldn’t have been from the backlash there. The only thing you need to connect online for is the stupid day 1 patch. That patch is dumb though, all of those features should have been included on the system.
It just goes to show that all three, Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are rushing their systems out. Nintendo rushed theirs out last year and had that huge patch, Sony and Microsoft will do the same.
In all honesty, while it would have flooded the market and caused a lot of competition, it looks like all three systems should have probably launched sometime in 2014.

microsoft and sony should have simply come to an agreement to only limit drm in terms of locking out pirating out of the system. MS going full retard on DRM initially and Sony because they’re desperate took the open approach. I still think 1 year out they will institute the same policy as Steam – or something half baked so the developer has the option so MS itself wont take the blame if your system is offline and cant connect to get the launch file.
Also, the trade up program is for both Xbox One and PS4 games. These programs are not being offered by Sony or Microsoft, but rather the third party developers. Yes you will need to keep the disc to run the downloaded copy, but that has been explained over and over in the terms and conditions of the program. This isn’t some insider info. It’s old news.
Besides, anyone who uses that program is a tool anyway. There’s absolutely no point in getting a PS3/360 version of a game then two weeks later getting the next-gen version spending even more money. Wait it out. If you don’t want to wait it out, then oh well. Really no reason to complain about the OPTIONAL service – which has been a rip from the start.

Jump in, jump out local co-op. It’s just a little addition to the game where someone can control a robot Knack. They can help in the game, but can not negatively affect it. It’s good for kids to play along with or someone who isn’t much of a gamer.
At the same time, it offers even seasoned gamers a chance to join in on the challenge.
There’s no online since Knack is primarily a singleplayer game (which is why co-op mode has barely even been mentioned).

The other way to spin this is that Iwata is too busy running operations for the Holidays [ probably the most important holiday season for the next 5 years due to competition ]… to be off doing the dog and pony show with investors. Also, it doesnt mean there will be no conference call, it just means that the financial minions can handle it.
Look at 3DS sales and pokemon sales on vgcharts, off the hook. But you know dumbass analysts will focus on the semi-negative Wii-U sales that certainly will pick up during the holidays.

There really is no excuse for the CEO of a major conglomeration to be “too busy” for this. This is his job. This is a requirement to investors. Yes, this holiday season will be very important but it is just as important to keep the people funding your company in the loop.
This is just one more thing in a long laundry list of mistakes that will eventually cause investors to lose faith in Iwata and sell stock in Nintendo. Nintendo always does well during the holiday season. That’s neither hear, nor there. What happens after the holiday season is what matters.
There is no platform for any excuses for Nintendo anymore. That’s all done. Time has run out. The XBOX One and PS4 are here. Not to mention the PS3 and 360 going down in price. The market will be oversaturated with competing consoles.
