      1. Or don’t be cheap and just get it now. The regular battery is fine and its only a small annoyance. Im never far from an outlet or the charger for the game pad.

          1. It already is built in (Sort of). It fits into the battery slot the entire way because they planned on making this battery ahead of time.

  1. This is so annoying. Why the hell would I pay for this battery that should have been in the console from the beginning

  2. Way too expensive. When competitors controllers go for $50, it’s unacceptable to make us pay $32 for a battery that, frankly, should’ve been included in the first place.

  3. I would say 8 hours isn’t alot but when you consider it’s powering a 6.2 embedded resisitive touch screen that isn’t that bad.

  4. Not that the small battery life bothers me that much, the control isn’t going anywhere, but this should have been there in all standard gamepads.
Although not really a problem, charge cable doesn’t jiggle around, unlike the PS3 ‘s cable, that’s a nightmare if you want to play while charging.

  5. I agree with the others that extended battery should have been standard with the game pad. That is the one of the flaws with the system. It is extremely annoying having to charge the game pad EVERY single time I use it.

  6. Fuck. I JUST bought the Niko one…which is pretty bulky.

on the plus side, it was only $10, has a game pad kickstand and hives me about the same life as the official Nintendo one…maybe It’s better I got the Nyko one after all.

    1. Yeah, I got the Nyko one as well. While it’s bulky, it doesn’t get in the way of your hands. The Stand is convenient, And it’s nice that both batteries change at the same time.

    2. How is that nyko battery? did you get the external one? I’m hesitant to buy it only because I haven’t seen any reviews for it and I’m worried it might mess up my gamepad in the long run?

  7. Also, everyone, another alternative is a USB charge cable. I got one, it’s pretty long and plugs into the front of the WiiU. (or back.) I’ve been using it since launch and it’s been great.

  8. Hey a longer battery life isn’t such a big issue (at least for me) I mean the GamPad can only be what 30 feet from the console, besides I play with my GamePad charging while I play so if anything needs a longer battery life its the 3DS

      1. I know ive tried that but when I play outside even when the sunlight is sparse, I cannot see at all, so in order to see I have to either find room inside a building and loiter or I have to change brightness settings to at least 3 with the power saver on, but even still that only last like 1 hour

  9. There should have been a button to shut off the gamepad instead of having to go to the menu to just shut off the screen.

    1. the snakebyte power pack has that “button”

it’s an external switch that physically seperates the battery pack from the gamepad
      works like a charm

  10. Why not do something to shut the GamePad off when waching Netflix or Amazon prime? I don’t need the extra battery life right now. I just hope when they sell GamePads to put the new battery inside.

        1. can’t shut anything off when you’re watching something in the browser however as entering the wii u settings will close the browser

          not smart

      1. What’s a pretty dumb way to do it… A quick press on the powerbutton should shut it of, or trough the remote spot, enough room to add a shortcut so you don’t have to interrupt the gameplay if you forgot to do it ir so. And that makes it easier to pick it up to write something to the Miiverse in game.

  11. so that was their plan all this time huh. motherfuckers. gives us a piece of shit controller with horrendous battery life so you can swindle people for more dough for better batteries.

    1. Nah. It’s consistent with the whole system. Every aspect is stripped down to the minimum to run an HD console effectively. It’s not just the battery. I can’t believe I paid $350, and $60 for half the games they are giving away now. Oh well.

      1. Yea I’m pretty pissed they didn’t implement a ambassador program. Games prices are dropping like rocks too. Seriously contiplating not buying games until their dirt cheap going forward. Although at this point, rayman is one of the few wii u games i don’t own.

  12. It seems a bit too pricey for a still very low game time. Hopefully it’s included as the standard battery in future runs of the console.

    1. Lolzz its just another C@$h in by Nintendo to G3t PeopL3 to 2 buy The $camU

  13. “The Wii U GamePad High-Capacity Battery offers up to 8 hours of use”

    that it most certainly won’t

got myself a 2500 mAh battery for mine and it usually lasts about 6 hours, maybe up to 7 but definitely not 8

  14. I already imported one from the UK. I bought it from amazon.co.uk. I would’ve ordered direct from Nintendo, but they gave no indication that it was going to be made available in the USA. Plus, I wanted to be sure to have it before Christmas.

  15. Yes more c@$H ins by Nintendo for the $camU. Only the kiddies bUy ThiS STufF

  16. Why not leave it plugged in?

Or by the off chance that you’re away from an outlet (Slim chance, your WiiU is 99% likely to be plugged into one), give WalMart 3$ and buy an extension cord.

  17. I actually see this battery on a very affordable price
and for those idiots that keep saying it should come with the package, IT IS GONNA COME ON THE NEW WIIU’S PACKAGES FOR NOW ON

God, this kids on this site trying to sound smart making stupid hashtags and sounding all important because mommy/daddy didnt gave me money to afford this(may not be the case, in which, i dont care in fact)
Now I know why this site entertains me. This fucking show off kids wannabe trolls are just as hilarious as any funny video on youtube.
Seriously guys. no matter how you sound, no matter how you make it, no matter how much you rant, if any of you want to be heard, the best way is to make a rational statement rather than “Me cool, me pro, Nintendo are a bunch of idiots”. Keep it that way and what you will accomplish is to make me laugh even harder(and other ppl as well).

That said, I’m expecting your answers, i wanna laugh and make my day
also, the idiot replying “exposed” or anything with the word “butt” and “hurt”, you are as exposed as well as being a dumbass, not knowing how to write a proper answer to a reply

    Ciao

    1. Lolzzz more nintdronez on the loose. This just in- fanboy rages on NinTenDo W3bs!Te

      1. #WiiHaveNoHope & #Wii$camedU are hilarious! They really set themselves up with an odd name like ‘WiiU’, right? “We” and “You” can be used in so many ways.

Portaldark: I understand what you mean entirely, but you don’t have to read the comments; this site is about the news! Trolls are fun anyhow, and if you don’t like them, don’t post!

        1. im just commenting that news are cool, but the best are the wannabe trolls, they amuse me for being a group of stupid kids trying to sound like if they have enough intelligence when they are just a bunch of idiots that thiink “trolling” is still mainstream

  18. I’d go for this if it weren’t so pricey. I bought a Wii U cleaning kit off of the Nintendo Store last year and it has yet to see a release elsewhere, though. (Side note, the cleaning kit for the original Wii is not for use in the Wii U). Chances are this new battery will be an exclusive item until someone like Nyko copies it.

  19. Nintendo is cheap fucks. Not only they make underpowered outdated, overpriced hardware with 25gb internal space in 2013, but then they charge 32$ to change the battery that had to be in the gamepad in the first place from the beginning.

  20. They should send these free out to people who have already bought a WiIU, as the new battery is bigger what is the space in the control-pad being used for now, Nintendo are just trying to screw more cash out of us.

    1. Lolzzz dont except much from NintenDont. OnLy except C@$h in game$ for the $camU
