Namco Bandai Will Change Its English Name From Namco Bandai To Bandai Namco

Namco Bandai has announced that it will change its English name from Namco Bandai to Bandai Namco, the same as it is in Japan. The company says the name change is a way to unify the brand internationally. Bandai Namco says that the move will increase the “value” and “appeal” of the name and brand. Guess we will have to get used to the name change.

    1. the name was written as it currently is when george washington entered the presidency and established the declaration of independence against the british empire. at that time, japan and australia were in an all out porn scene that threatened to destroy the world as we know it, and thus namco bandai became bandai namco.

    2. It’s because, while Bandai is a more recognizable name in Japan, Namco was a much more recognizable brand name in English speaking countries at the time. However, the company is more Bandai than Namco, so it’s good to see that they’ve changed it.

    1. I’m sooo pumped for ToX2!!! Except it would be kind of sad being a Tales fan on a Nintendo site because it seems to be getting more releases on Sony consoles these days.

  2. doesn’t increase the appeal one bit to me .. i think it’s a fricking pointless (and probably very expensive) change..

    well not my problem really

  3. I don’t care. I still just call them Namco. Nobody cares about Bandai.

And while we’re on the subject, bring a dang Tales Of game to Wii U already! Or at least a 3DS game that isn’t a port. You pretty much slapped us in the face with keeping the Symphonia remake away from Nintendo.

        1. I’m aware of them. It’s just that I believe Namco has also really screwed Nintendo over in the past few years.

      1. I think that their relationship has actually gotten a bit better than it was. You have Smash Bros., and Bandai Namco making those surprisingly decent Mario Kart Arcade games, even Taiko Drum is now on Wii U! Plus, with the amazingness that was Tekken Tag Tournament 2 on Wii U, I have faith that NB can pull off Smash Bros.

        1. Yeah, I guess so. Most of my spite against Namco is because of Tales Of and Soul Calibur.

I have a GCN and I absolutely loved Tales of Symphonia and Soul Calibur 2. And now both of their remakes aren’t coming to Wii U. Tales has become increasingly PS-exclusive, which I think is sad. Tales is too good of a series to be restricted to one console.

  4. I like Namco being first. Because I’m more familiar with Namco. But I suppose it makes no difference either way.
When did the 2 companies merge? I know they used to be separate companies.

    1. In all honesty i dont get whats so special about Bandai Namco, Tales of games are typical anime series lookin jrpgs and tekken hasnt been good in long time. Smash is no doubt their biggest game they will be part of. I also hope they wont screw it, Sakurai needs to show them who is the boss.
