Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai has been firing many of the game’s Wii U and 3DS images for a number of months onto Miiverse and, occasionally, we receive extra details on gameplay. Last week, Sakurai explained the technical changes to edge-grabbing or edge-guarding – a welcome change for those who play Super Smash Bros. competitively – but today the director has focused on gameplay tactics.
The Wii U screenshot above showcases Link and Pit unleashing their powerful archery skills on each other, amidst the beautiful Wuhu Island background from the Pilotwings stage. But when their arrows meet, they simply disperse and neutralise. Here’s what Sakurai said in his Miiverse post:
“Both Link and Pit use bows, but when they fire simultaneously, their arrows meet and cancel out closer to Pit. Besides attack power and projectile speed, there are many elements that affect tactics, such as accuracy, vulnerability after attacking, and even seemingly unrelated features like a character’s physical abilities.”
