Photos With Mario AR Card Details Confirmed With Official Website Launch

mario_ar_eshopNintendo sneakily launched Photos With Mario last week on the eShop for North America – a free 3DS app which allows users to snap photos of Mario characters with pre-purchased AR cards. But there was confusion among reports as to how much the AR cards would cost and where exactly they could be purchased.

Nintendo has since confirmed the details with the launch of the app’s official website. On sale at US store Target from May 28 will be three character-specific $10 eShop cards, which each come with a free AR card of either Mario, Peach or Goomba.

Along with the purchasing details, Nintendo has also uploaded a number of videos of the app’s character animations and appeal. Though many fans have found a way to snap a photo of the AR characters online, if you’re looking to purchase eShop funds it’s an extra incentive to do so. Currently, the free 3DS app is only available in North America, with no word on a European release.

  1. Yeeeeah… Didn’t Iwata promise for a return to profits for Nintendo? Why are they still doing this bullshit?

    1. What… there not even making money off of this… if anything there giving you more of a reason to buy eshop funds, considering thry come with free cards… god people, its not like nintendo banned the cards from being posted online.

      1. You’re confused. They are charging for the AR cards, not the App. They were supposed to make money on the AR cards. But that’s not gonna happen.

What were you even talking about??

        1. They make money the way they always did – it’s $10 for a $10 e-Shop credit. The e-Shop card comes with a free AR card, that you could make a bad copy of by spending money on a printer and ink, or get it for free when you purchase stuff on the e-Shop.

      1. What? Damn, the comments on this site have degraded to the point, they make no logical sense at all. I

  2. WTF is this Nintendo? Overpriced single cards that no one, I repeat, NO ONE will ever bother to think about buying.

This is a step backwards Nintendo. -_-

    1. No need to. Download the app for free. (hard to find, but it’s there in the US shop) Then download the AR images.

It’s not really that fun, but.. Nice to have just in case?
